Every time Joe Burrow misses 10 games or more in a season, he plays 16 or more the following year. Last year he played 9. You do the math.
93.7 The Fan Sports Director Jeff Hathhorn joined the show. Jeff said Max Iheanachor told reporters that he feels ready to start Week 1 at right tackle. Jeff feels like there is a better chance of Iheanachor starting now than there was last week. Is Germie Bernard quickly going to overtake Roman Wilson for WR3? The Steelers used a ton of TEs last year, but that isn't really the style Mike McCarthy plays with – will we see multiple TEs on the field at the same time this season? Jeff doesn't think it was a super serious conversation between Omar Khan and Joey Porter Jr. that reporters caught earlier today. Jeff thinks the franchise tag is ‘100% in-play' for the Steelers to use on Porter. Jeff doesn't buy the threat of Porter sitting out real games. Jeff thought the tone used by McCarthy and Khan were both telling when talking about Elandon Roberts. Jeff doesn't expect Roberts back and labeled him as ‘the victim' of the Steelers going with 4 QBs on their 53-man roster.
Richard Sherman and Mitchell predict the AFC division winners for the 2026 NFL season, including the Bills, Chiefs, Ravens, and Texans. They also pick Wild Cards like the Broncos, Patriots, Jaguars, Chargers, and Bengals. They discuss if Drake Maye and the Patriots can reach the Super Bowl after adding A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs, whether Josh Allen and the Bills can reclaim the AFC East, and how Malik Willis might affect the Dolphins. The preview covers the AFC West, mentioning Patrick Mahomes’ health, the Chiefs’ addition of Kenneth Walker III, Bo Nix and the Broncos’ offense with Jaylen Waddle, Justin Herbert’s prospects with Mike McDaniel calling plays, and Fernando Mendoza’s potential for the Raiders. They debate Lamar Jackson and the Ravens, Aaron Rodgers’ reunion with Mike McCarthy in Pittsburgh, Joe Burrow’s chances with the Bengals, Shedeur Sanders with the Browns, C.J. Stroud and the Texans’ defense, Trevor Lawrence with the Jaguars, and AFC playoff contenders.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have their 53-man roster — but did Omar Khan and Mike McCarthy get it right? Tonight on Steelers Hangover, we're breaking down the biggest decisions coming out of roster cuts, including the Steelers' surprising decision to carry FOUR quarterbacks, what it means for Will Howard and Drew Allar, the biggest roster surprises, and the moves that could shape Pittsburgh's 2026 season.
Jared and Matt wrap up the 2026 NFL and college football preview season by breaking down the AFC North, NFC North, and the SEC conference. Plus, it's time for the first Six-Pack of the year — six weekly college football picks against the spread. We start in the AFC North, a division turned upside down this offseason. Three of the four teams enter with new head coaches — Jesse Minter in Baltimore after John Harbaugh's departure to the Giants, Mike McCarthy back home in Pittsburgh, and Todd Monken taking over in Cleveland after Kevin Stefanski left for Atlanta. On top of that, the Browns sent shockwaves through the league by trading superstar pass rusher Myles Garrett to the Rams. We break down how the division shakes out amid all the change. From there we shift to the NFC North, where the Bears look to defend their surprise division title after a wild, comeback-fueled 11-6 season under first-year head coach Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams. The Lions enter as the betting favorites once again after a disappointing fall from grace, while the Packers deal with uncertainty up front as star pass rusher Micah Parsons starts the year on the PUP list. We break down all four teams in what's shaping up to be one of the league's most competitive divisions. We close out the football previews with the SEC. Georgia enters as the back-to-back defending conference champion behind quarterback Gunner Stockton, while Texas, Alabama, and a Lane Kiffin-led LSU squad round out the league's top tier of national title contenders. Then it's time for our first Six-Pack of the season:
Former NFL quarterback and SiriusXM broadcaster Rich Gannon joined the show. Today is the debut of The Fan on SiriusXM, channel 169. Rich is friends with Mike McCarthy and is excited for him to be in Pittsburgh. He likes Will Howard thinks he has plenty of arm talent, plus can scramble. Rich thinks Drew Allar had some challenges around him in college and has good arm talent but is going to take reps and time.
McCarthy's Morsels – What did Mike McCarthy say to the media today? NFL Draft analyst Ryan Wilson from CBS Sports joined the show. Ryan put together a piece that broke down a lot of the Steelers draft picks over the last 10 years. It wasn't just pointing out if the Steelers made a bad pick, but if they also passed on a good player that would have fit a void in real time. Was the Kenny Pickett selection as bad as we remember because others around him haven't panned out either? Ryan admitted that he liked Kendrick Green coming out of college and he turned into a terrible selection. What happened with Chase Claypool and how did he fail? Who should be mostly at fault for bad draft picks? PM Team Draft – Best defensive players in NFL history.
We saw the introduction of Broderick Jones in Dallas yesterday after the Steelers sent him there via trade Saturday night in exchange for a 3rd and 6th round pick. The Steelers also sent a 4th rounder to the Cowboys. Jones didn't mince words – he said the Steelers screwed him up. Jones did a lot of moving around in his time here because the coaching staff pandered to Dan Moore time and time again. Is he right? The guys pointed out some recent Steelers that have gone elsewhere and thrived, to a degree. Names like Kevin Dotson and Devin Bush come to mind. That used to never be the case. Poni had a dog analogy to relate to the Steelers… but it never really did. Oh well. Former NFL QB Ben DiNucci from CBS Sports joined the show. Ben played under Mike McCarthy and was the perfect guy to ask about Big Mike keeping 4 QBs on the Steelers 53-man roster. Ben was the QB3 in his first year under McCarthy and he mostly stood around at practice until injuries forced him into the fire. So, what will it look like with 4 guys? Ben expects Aaron Rodgers to get a ton of reps as a guy who never really takes a practice off. Ben thinks McCarthy will still be the main coach for the QBs and it's not just an off-season thing. Ben said he didn't see any glaring things that Will Howard did in the preseason that was better than Drew Allar. Ben understands Will's position as a fellow late-round pick that hung around the league for a few years. Ben wondered if the room will still have 4 active QBs next week or long into the season. Ben talked about the open mind young QBs need to have and why that may explain his reasoning to keep all 4. How does Ben view Mason Rudolph as the team's backup QB? Ben said a ton by not saying anything about Matt Canada coaching him at Pitt.

The Steelers kept four quarterbacks on the 53-man roster. Mark Kaboly said he thought the Steelers wanted to keep Aaron Rodgers, Will Howard, and Drew Allar, but Mason Rudolph played his way onto the Steelers roster. The Steelers are keeping four quarterbacks for the first time since 1995. Rudolph impressed Mike McCarthy.
Mike McCarthy said good things about Broderick Jones over the course of the offseason, but those words must have just been coach speak. The Steelers traded Jones to the Cowboys yesterday for a mid-round pick swap. Poni thinks that the Cowboys may have traded for Jones because he would be a good middle man between George Pickens and the front office. Mullsy thinks that Mike Tomlin is not to blame for the Broderick Jones pick, even though a lot of people want to use him as a scape goat for everything that has gone wrong. The guys go over the Steelers last 5 first-round draft picks and decide who gets the blame for each one.
Steelers reporter Brooke Pryor from ESPN joined the show. Brooke labeled this as a ‘bonus' week of work since the preseason is over, the roster is set and the regular season doesn't begin for nearly 2 weeks. How many moves will we see the Steelers make from their initial 53-man? Brooke thinks Kevin Jobity is likely the first person to go if the Steelers shuffle around some of their roster. Brooke also expects Eli Heidenreich to be on the chopping block if the team can't find a way to use him on game days. Brooke pointed out that safety and tackle are two spots the Steelers will look to add depth. Is Jalen Ramsey going to be seen at safety following the injury news with DeShon Elliott? Brooke thought the Elandon Roberts cut was a surprise and she would be additionally surprised if he isn't back on the roster in the next few weeks. Brooke said both sides are frustrated in the Joey Porter Jr. contract negotiations, but she isn't sounding the alarm yet because we have seen contracts come down to the wire before. Brooke wasn't surprised at all the Steelers kept 4 QBs and explained why Mike McCarthy didn't want to give up on Will Howard just yet. Do the Steelers believe that much in Roman Wilson entering his third year? Brooke tried to explain how women could have fallen for the Daejon Love scam.

Retired Steelers Linebacker, Arthur Moats, is joined by the Emmy Award winning producer in Raleigh, NC, Mark Bergin, to interview the CBS Sports lead play-by-play announcer, Ian Eagle, about his history announcing Steelers games, Mike McCarthy being named head coach, the new NFL rules plus more!
The Pittsburgh Steelers preseason is officially over, and now the REAL decisions begin. Mike McCarthy appears prepared to keep FOUR quarterbacks on the Steelers' 53-man roster — Aaron Rodgers, Mason Rudolph, Drew Allar and Will Howard — but does keeping both young quarterbacks actually make sense? I don't think it does.
The AFC North has undergone multiple coaching changes this offseason. Which new coach will have the biggest impact? Will a healthy Deshaun Watson make a difference for the Browns post Myles Garrett trade? Can the reunited Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy recapture their Lambeau magic in the Steel City? How will Lamar Jackson and the Ravens bounce back after last season? Joe Burrow has laid down the gauntlet for the Cincinnati Bengals - it's now or never. Will the Bengals be able to cash the check Burrow wrote for his team? D and Z answer these questions and more as they preview and predict the AFC North!

On the Friday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by FanDuel and Edgar Snyder & Associates, host Christopher Carter and Post-Gazette insider Ray Fittipaldo break down the Steelers' 28-27 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night to end the NFL preseason. It seems the Steelers are committed to carrying four quarterbacks into the regular season. Is this the right move for Mike McCarthy's team? What did Drew Allar and Will Howard show in Buffalo? Are either of them pushing Aaron Rodgers or Mason Rudolph? How concerned should we be that DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. didn't see the field at all during preseason? And did Kaden Wetjen cement his roster spot with a punt return touchdown? Our duo tackles those topics and more. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Adam Crowley and Dorin Dickerson review how well the team exemplified head coach Mike McCarthy's "six tenets of Steelers' football" in Thursday's preseason game against the Buffalo Bills.
Hour 3: Mark Kaboly joins the show for the full hour! Will the Steelers get a new state-of-the-art stadium in the next few years? Mark is going to a WPIAL football game tonight, but the guys take issue with who he's rooting for. And Poni says he sees franchise quarterback traits in Drew Allar.

Hour 1: Poni recaps his trip to Buffalo yesterday for Steelers-Bills with Joe Starkey. The guys wonder why people are hyping up Will Howard's performance last night. DK Metcalf posted something shockingly terrible on Instagram the other day. And another round of Fair Game with Farabaugh!
Nate Tice & Robert Mays deep dive on all four teams in the AFC North ahead of the 2026 NFL season. The dynamic duo kick things off with the division champion Pittsburgh Steelers: can new head coach Mike McCarthy go on one more run with QB Aaron Rodgers? Next up, the Baltimore Ravens, who are tied for the highest win total in the league currently, despite going 8-9 last year and kicking off the season with a new head coach in Jesse Minter. Are the Ravens ready to make a Super Bowl run in 2026? The Cincinnati Bengals are up next, and Nate & Robert weigh in on if they've done enough on defense to allow Joe Burrow & his elite receivers to carry them to a deep playoff run, plus a potential transition to an under-center offense. Finally, the Cleveland Browns have made plenty of interesting moves this offseason, but will they translate to wins on the field this fall? Nate & Robert reveal their expectations for head coach Todd Monken and the Browns' young roster. The duo finish off the show with their final predictions: who takes home the AFC North this season? Mike McCarthy spoke earlier about Will Howard and his final preseason start. Mullsy is ready to have an adult conversation about Will Howard and his future as a Steelers and NFL quarterback. As a sixth round pick, the deck was stacked against him from the beginning and he has not exactly lit the world on fire. The adult thing to say about a player like that is that he is on his last legs with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's the reporting coming out of NFL Network on Monday evening surrounding the ongoing contract negotiations between the Steelers and Joey Porter Jr., which head coach Mike McCarthy said on Monday are at an "impasse." But is the lack of a formal offer from the Steelers the thing that is holding up progress, as is being suggested? Alan breaks it down: Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Alan Saunders & Zachary Smith discuss all things Pittsburgh Steelers. On today's episode, we discuss Mike McCarthy discussing the idea of keeping 4 quarterbacks on the roster, what he needs to see from his RB3 in that battle, how Jalen Ramsey changes things for the defense and not going into much detail in regard to the teams' preseason finale. We also discuss the team signing Brandon Hill, with Sebastian Castro in a boot and if moving on from Roman Wilson makes sense. Join us for another Steelers Afternoon Drive and discuss all of this. Hour 4 with Joe Starkey: Asante Samuel Sr. doesn't think Joey Porter Jr. is doing a good job with negotiations and he should be practicing. Tom Verducci reported that the biggest problem for Paul Skenes is that he's lost his velocity. He doesn't think Skenes has the best break and spin on his fastball to get hitters out if its not at an elite velocity. The SEC and Big Ten want to keep pro athletes from coming back to college sports.
The SEC and Big Ten want to keep pro athletes from coming back to college sports. Mike McCarthy has confidence in Iowa players. He thinks keeping four quarterbacks won't hurt developing Allar and Howard.
In this hour, Adam Crowley and Dorin Dickerson react to Steelers' head coach Mike McCarthy recently addressing a published report that the team has already decided to keep all four of their current QBs. Also, Pirates insider Jason Mackey comes on The Fan Hotline. August 25, 2026, 9:00 Hour
In this hour, Adam Crowley and Dorin Dickerson react to Steelers' head coach Mike McCarthy acknowledging in a recent press conference that the team is at an "impasse" with CB Joey Porter Jr. in talks about a contract extension. August 25, 2026, 6:00 Hour
Mike McCarthy doesn't think keeping 4 QBs would be a hinderance to building a 53-man roster. McCarthy hasn't always felt that way – or at least, he hasn't acted that way. Is Will Howard a certainty to make the team? Chris is wondering if McCarthy is overcompensating with all of this and will really only keep 3 when it's all said & done. Was it set in stone since the start for McCarthy that Howard would make the team? Allar's Answers – What did Drew Allar say to the media today? Donny Football Debrief – The AFC South and NFC North have unveiled their ‘rivalry' uniforms in 2026. Jed York update. The Big 10 stood up to the players coming back from the NFL.

The Prophet Playoff Theory heads to the AFC North, where all four teams enter 2026 with major questions, new leadership and plenty of pressure. First up: The Baltimore Ravens. Jesse Minter takes over as head coach and brings his defensive prowess to a team led by two-time MVP Lamar Jackson. Can Minter get Baltimore's defense back to its dominant ways? Will Derrick Henry finally fall off a cliff, and can the offensive line keep this offense from being its own worst enemy? The Cincinnati Bengals. Cincinnati can't afford another slow start. Joe Burrow's health remains one of the biggest questions surrounding this team, but for the first time in a while, the Bengals have made major investments in their defense. Can Burrow make it through the entire season, and will the revamped defense finally give Cincinnati the ability to win some low-scoring games when the offense isn't carrying the team? The Cleveland Browns. Cleveland has a decision to make at quarterback, and Rashad and Keven aren't waiting around — they believe Shedeur Sanders should start right away. Can the 2nd year QB take control of the offense and give the Browns a real direction at quarterback? And with Andrew Berry still running the front office, will Cleveland continue to hit on the draft picks needed to build this team back up?The Pittsburgh Steelers. Mike McCarthy is in, and so is Aaron Rodgers for what could be his final NFL season. Is McCarthy's system the perfect fit for this version of Rodgers, or are we asking too much from a 42-year-old quarterback? Can the McCarthy-Rodgers reunion recreate some of that Green Bay magic? And with Mike Tomlin no longer on the sideline, can Pittsburgh still find a way to finish around .500 or better? Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's the play of Steelers rookie wide receiver and kick returner Kaden Wetjen, which drew fairly harsh criticism from head coach Mike McCarthy, and that was before he fumbled the football against the New York Jets in Week 2 of the preseason and the team brought in a veteran kick returner for a tryout on Sunday. So is Wetjen really on the chopping block? Alan breaks it down: Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Max Iheanachor is going to practice today and could play on Thursday. Jalen Ramsey is being activated off the PUP list. McCarthy said Joey Porter Jr. is at an impasse in contract talks. Would you trade Porter for a first-round pick?
Rob in West Mifflin thinks there isn't much of a gap between Will Howard and Drew Allar. Joe wants to prioritize developing Allar and should move on from Howard. Joe thinks Mike McCarthy loves Allar.
Hour 4 with Bob Pompeani and Joe Starkey: PFF doesn't have Joey Porter Jr. as a top 10 corner despite great numbers. Mike McCarthy said this is a challenge for Joey Porter Jr. and the Steelers. He wants to coach JPJ and said there is an impasse with the contract talks. The Browns waived a tight end that has an agreement to play for LSU if he clears waivers.
Hour 2 with Bob Pompeani and Joe Starkey: Who will be the Steelers starter next year? We have no idea who the answer is, Allar or a quarterback drafted next year. Joe thinks the Steelers believe Allar is their guy. Leslie from the YouTube chat calls. Rob in West Mifflin thinks there isn't much of a gap between Howard and Allar. Joe wants to prioritize developing Allar and should move on from Howard.
