Mike Tomlin is still waiting on a 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers to make up his mind. This isn't how the Pittsburgh Steelers drew it up, and that's part of the problem. There hasn't been much drawing up of plans at the quarterback position. Now, T.J. Watt is unhappy? Oy vey. The Steelers' best player took to Instagram on Wednesday to post a picture of himself flashing a peaceout sign. Such is protocol for disgruntled pros. He's got one year left on his contract. He sees other edge rushers like Myles Garrett and Maxx Crosby cashing in. And no doubt, Watt sees the Steelers backing up the Brink's truck for a wide receiver who's never played a down for the team in DK Metcalf.Nobody attacks their profession quite like Watt. The seven-time Pro Bowler has every right to be pissed off at the moment. Watt was the DPOY in 2021 and finished No. 2 in the voting in two other seasons. On this week's Substack Live, we take a quick look at the state of affairs. Is there any hope? The Steelers still must contend with Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow in their own division. With or without Rodgers, they'll need to draft a quarterback. If Shedeur Sanders falls, he'd make a lot of sense in Pittsburgh.Be sure to download the Substack app and turn notifications on to join future Live chats. Also, here's our feature from September 2022: “T.J. Bob and Dave break down what Geno Smith and DK Metcalf’s contentious exit from the Seahawks tells us about the change in leadership styles between Pete Carroll and Mike Macdonald, they look at the real reasons for the Mariners slumping attendance, they try to answer some of the biggest questions surrounding this Mariners team right now, and they hear why the 49ers might not give Brock Purdy a contract extension in Sweeping the Dial.
On the Wednesday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by Edgar Snyder & Associates, Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Christopher Carter and Ray Fittipaldo react to QB Shedeur Sanders' scheduled visit to the team's facility ahead of the NFL draft. Do GM Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin have genuine interest in Deion Sanders' son should he fall from the top five in the draft? Or is it a smokescreen designed to obscure Khan's true interests? And how would Sanders fit in QB room with the likes of Mason Rudolph and -- potentially -- Aaron Rodgers? Our duo tackles those questions, then reviews other top 30 visits to this point. Is Jaxson Dart on the Steelers' radar after his own visit? Is WR Matthew Golden still on the first-round radar, despite the DK Metcalf trade? Why haven't more offensive visitors been in the projected first-round range? And what should we make of the fact that none of the projected first-round DL options have visited? A list that includes names like Derrick Harmon, Kenneth Grant, Walter Nolen, Darius Alexander and Tyleik Williams?

On the Monday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by Edgar Snyder & Associates, host Adam Bittner welcomes Post-Gazette Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo to talk in depth about the team's needs at receiver heading into the NFL draft in a couple of weeks. How much do GM Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin's plans at the position hinge on George Pickens' future? Could they still target a Day 1 option like Emeka Egbuka, Luther Burden III or Matthew Golden to pair with DK Metcalf for the long term? Or is the need at positions like QB, RB and DT too great to ignore? How do other internal options like Roman Wilson and Calvin Austin III fit into the conversation? If the Steelers go with a Day 2 option like Tre Harris, Elic Ayomanor, Jayden Higgins, Jack Bech, Jaylin Noel or Jaylen Royals, which traits will be most important them? And what role should special teams play in this conversation, especially as it pertains to possible Day 3 options like Pat Bryant or Chimere Dike? Our duo tackles those questions, then talks QBs. Could we finally get a decision from Aaron Rodgers this week? If he doesn't sign, would that elevate the chances the team targets names like Jaxson Dart, Tyler Shough or Jalen Milroe in the draft? Or would they look more toward veterans like Joe Flacco, Drew Lock and/or Carson Wentz? And could Milroe's stock be surging amid his invite to attend the draft in-person in Green Bay, Wisc.?
On the weekly NFL mock draft tracker show, host Derrick Stilley welcomes Steelers insider Christopher Carter to look at the latest popular picks. Defensive tackle has been a popular position in Round 1, but could the Steelers double-dip in Round 2? Would QB Jaxson Dart be a reach in the first round like Kenny Pickett was in 2022? And is there a world in which the Steelers draft a wide receiver early after trading for DK Metcalf?

They then listen to some sound from the inaugural Cal Raleigh Show and what stood out to them. Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo from the PG joined the show. Ray doesn't think the Steelers missed out on trading for Joe Milton this morning and thinks they could draft a similar player later this month. Ray expects the Steelers to draft a QB whether or not they get Aaron Rodgers. Ray isn't very impressed with this draft class of QBs. Ray doesn't see the Steelers using the 21st pick on RB unless Ashton Jeanty falls there. Ray still feels pretty confident the Steelers will take a DL in the opening round, which is 3 weeks away. The guys asked about the meeting with Aaron Rodgers and if they included anything about his current targets. Ray is still adamant that the Steelers want to get back into the 2nd round, the pick they traded for DK Metcalf. The guys asked Ray if there was anything knew with Rodgers. Which middle round QB would be best fit for what the Steelers do?

DK Metcalf and Aaron Rodgers were working out together and video surfaced online. Gio cannot believe Rodgers is dragging this out again, holding another franchise hostage. He has had weeks to decide what to do. You can't have Metcalf with George Pickens and then have Mason Rudolph as your quarterback. Boomer thinks the deal is already done with the Steelers and Rodgers. Gio wonders why they don't just announce it then.
A video of DK Metcalf and Aaron Rodgers working out sparked Gio's frustration over Rodgers' drawn-out decision, questioning why a deal with the Steelers isn't finalized. The Deshaun Watson situation was revisited, with Gio asserting Watson's indifference to his reputation. Jerry's update covered Mets highlights, Rafael Devers' struggles, Carson Kelly's cycle, the Braves' winless start, Aaron Glenn's press conference, and the Titans' draft openness. Mike Tomlin addressed the Rodgers situation, and rumors circulated about Rodgers announcing his Steelers move on Pat McAfee's live show in Pittsburgh. Jameis Winston's Giants press conference and Frank Reich's interim coaching role at Stanford, with Andrew Luck as GM, concluded the hour.
Hour 1 Last night, the Mets' offense erupted, highlighted by Pete Alonso's grand slam, a much-needed boost according to Gio. Amidst discussions about the Yankees' struggling offense and a social media spat between Jazz Chisholm and Dave Portnoy, Gio speculated whether Rafael Devers' strikeouts were intentional to avoid DH duties, a theory Boomer dismissed. Jerry's update featured Alonso's homer with Howie Rose's call, Jameis Winston's jovial press conference, and Browns owner Jimmy Haslam's admission of Deshaun Watson's failed acquisition. Finally, the Jets revealed they've offered voluntary buyouts to a significant portion of their staff. Hour 2 A video of DK Metcalf and Aaron Rodgers working out sparked Gio's frustration over Rodgers' drawn-out decision, questioning why a deal with the Steelers isn't finalized. Hour 3 The discussion about Frank Reich's Stanford interim coaching role continued, with calls for a potential "Football Friday" trip to California to see Stanford and to play golf at Pebble Beach. Jerry's update highlighted Brandon Nimmo's home run for the Mets, Carlos Mendoza's offensive analysis, Evan Roberts' bold claim about Aaron Judge, Ely De La Cruz's impressive RBI performance, Aaron Glenn's QB1 statement, Kevin Stefanski's Shedeur Sanders mention, and Jameis Winston's receiver comments. The hour concluded with a segment on Polymarket, a platform for betting on pop culture events, notably Sydney Sweeney's broken engagement. Hour 4 Tiger Woods' April Fool's joke about playing the Masters sparked discussion, with Boomer considering his own prank about taking the Maryland Athletic Director job, prompting Gio to compare it to Stanford's offensive coordinator role. The Giants' draft strategy, particularly regarding Shedeur Sanders, was debated. Jerry's final update included Brian Daboll's quarterback focus, Jameis Winston's QB expectations, Jimmy Haslam's Deshaun Watson admission, and Gio's Tush Push criticism. Ochocinco's jab at Shannon Sharpe and Howie Rose's Mets call were featured. The Moment of the Day highlighted Woody Johnson's unusual praise of Aaron Glenn. Boomer concluded the show with good news for Rangers fans.
Hour Two of the Good Morning Football Podcast begins with hosts Jamie Erdahl, Kyle Brandt, Isaac Rochell, and Manti Te'o debating if the tush push should be banned. After Aaron Rodgers was seen throwing the football to DK Metcalf at UCLA, the crew wonders if Rodgers is about to sign with the Steelers. A tradition - Kyle breaks down the annual photo at the NFL’s ownership meeting in Florida featuring head coaches. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Prior to this offseason, General Manager John Schneider presided over two major shakeups of the Seahawks post-Super Bowl roster. We've referred to these as a 'Hawkpocalypse' due to their significance. Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor, Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett all left in 2018. Then two franchise cornerstones in Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner left in 2022. This offseason seems to close the book on some remaining pillars of the Pete Carroll era: Tyler Lockett, DK Metcalf and Geno Smith. But does this shift seem as dire as the previous two, or is it a strategy to be celebrated? Will Schneider's move to bring in Sam Darnold, Cooper Kupp and Marquez Valdes-Scantling be able to fill the holes that were created in the roster? Even if they don't, we should expect the improvements on defense will help carry the 2025 Seahawks. In the second half of the show, we talk about some dream scenarios and nightmare scenarios for the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. Could a dream interior lineman fall into the Seahawks lap, or will they move up to draft a quarterback or even stay put to take another running back? This week, a writer at the Sporting News and a Discord hacker need to 'Do Better.' Better at life honors go out to a diner in Oregon and Sam Darnold's prolific Reddit fanclub.
Former NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers is still a free agent and is deciding where to play if he plays in 2025. The Pittsburgh Steelers are among the teams vying for Rodgers' services and newly acquired wide receiver DK Metcalf may be helping the recruiting process. He and Rodgers recently had a throwing session. The Athletic's Senior NFL Insider Dianna Russini shares her insights on the throwing session and former NFL QB Chase Daniel reacts to the news. Dianna is in Palm Beach for the March NFL owners meeting and attended the coach's breakfast. She shares unique insights from conversations with various head coaches and reacts to Mike Tomlin discussing the possibility of adding Rodgers to his quarterback room. Plus, with the 2025 NFL Draft less than a month away, what do the Tennessee Titans do with the first overall selection? Their organization recently had a large contingency present for Miami Hurricane's QB Cam Ward's Pro Day. However, the Titans remain open to potentially trading out of the top spot if the price is right. Other teams around the league in need of a quarterback are the Cleveland Browns. Jimmy Haslam admitted they made a mistake trading for Deshaun Watson. Dianna shares a trade for Kirk Cousins is possible for the Browns. The league has also been buzzing about the possibility of banning the Tush Push. The play, made famous by the Philadelphia Eagles, is under scrutiny at the owners' meeting and up for a potential ban from the competition committee. Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise reacts to the day in Pittsburgh sports news live around 5 p.m. Eastern. What should we make of reports that Aaron Rodgers and Steelers WR DK Metcalf had a throwing session over the weekend? Does it signal that Rodgers may sign with the Steelers soon? What are Paul's thoughts on comments made by coach Mike Tomlin and GM Omar Khan at the NFL owners meetings over the weekend? Is his faith in QB Mason Rudolph warranted? Will young offensive linemen including Zach Frazier, Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu heed his message? And should we take positive comments about George Pickens at face value? Paul tackles those topics, then pivots to the Pirates, who lost three of four in their MLB season-opening series against the Miami Marlins. How much blame does manager Derek Shelton deserve for the sloppy play? Is it too soon to panic about relievers David Bednar and Colin Holderman? And which players need to be better starting Monday night against the Tampa Bay Rays?
Alan Saunders and Zachary Smith discuss all things Pittsburgh Steelers. On today's episode, we discuss Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf getting together to throw at UCLA, adding fuel to the fire in terms of Rodgers becoming a Pittsburgh Steeler. We then dive into Omar Khan and Mike Tomlin's media availabilities at the NFL Owners meetings. They both addressed the team's need to find a QB, plan of attack in the draft, the future of George Pickens, rule changes that are on the table and much more.
