On the Wednesday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by Edgar Snyder & Associates, Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Christopher Carter and Ray Fittipaldo react to national criticism of the team over Aaron Rodgers' absence from OTAs. Do names like Terry Bradshaw and Joy Taylor have a point in calling out Rodgers, GM Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin for the situation? Or are they overstating the impact of Rodgers' absence, with veterans including Mason Rudolph and others shrugging off outside concerns? Then later, the guys give a first look at other areas of concern. How are tackles Troy Fautanu and Broderick Jones looking as they face pressure amid the departure of Dan Moore Jr.? How are new receivers DK Metcalf and Robert Woods assimilating? And are internal options Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson prepared to step up at the position following the George Pickens trade to the Dallas Cowboys?

The Steelers are back on the field for OTAs, and Jarrett Bailey discusses the biggest headlines from Day 1. Can Roman Wilson become a difference maker? Mason Rudolph is saying all the right things. And why DK Metcalf's absence isn't a big deal.
Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Brian Batko and Ray Fittipaldo recap the first day OTAs at the team's South Side facility. What were players saying about Aaron Rodgers as he remains unsigned at the beginning of the offseason program? How much faith do they have in Mason Rudolph as he takes first-team reps for now? How are the receivers looking? From new faces like DK Metcalf and Robert Woods to returning options like Roman Wilson and Calvin Austin III? And how closely should we be watching tackles Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu in the early going? Our duo tackles those questions and more.
Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise reacts to the day in Pittsburgh sports news live around 5 p.m. Eastern. Should the Steelers really be looking at Kirk Cousins as a Plan B to Aaron Rodgers, as reporting from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler suggests? Would the veteran quarterback's production be worth his hefty price tag for general manager Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin? Or are they better off looking internally at options like Mason Rudolph and Will Howard? And what other storylines is Paul monitoring at Steelers OTAs, from the new-look receivers room with DK Metcalf and Robert Woods joining Roman Wilson and Calvin Austin III to the battle at tackle highlighting Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu? Paul tackles those topics, then recaps a busy weekend for the Pirates against the Milwaukee Brewers and the start of their West Coast road trip against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Hour 3 with Joe Starkey: . The USA won the World Championships for the first time in 90 years. What's the bigger story? Team USA winning or Team Canada losing in the semis? Kyle Dubas put Team Canada together. The Penguins need to take some input from Sidney Crosby and recognize what comes next for Crosby. DK Metcalf is not at Steelers OTAs. Aaron Rodgers is not there either. Does Aaron Rodgers really want to prioritize football?
DK Metcalf is not at Steelers OTAs. Aaron Rodgers is not there either. Does Aaron Rodgers really want to prioritize football? Bryan Reynolds and Ke'Bryan Hayes have been bad offensively. Reynolds only has 13 extra base hits. Oneil Cruz is becoming a star for the Pirates.
The Post-Gazette's Adam Bittner and Jason Mackey react to a busy week of Pittsburgh sports news. Should OTAs be a red line for Steelers GM Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin in their pursuit of QB Aaron Rodgers? How important is the offseason program to his success, given that it didn't seem to matter much for Russell Wilson and Justin Fields? And how much worse off would the Steelers be with Mason Rudolph as their starter instead? Is the national media bashing he's received fair? Our duo tackles those questions; the difference between George Pickens and DK Metcalf as WR1; and the team's biggest remaining weakness after adding Derrick Harmon and Kaleb Johnson in the NFL draft. Later, the guys discuss the Penguins coaching search. Why does Mitch Love continue to make a lot of sense as a frontrunner? How much say should Sidney Crosby have in the hiring process? And how cool is it to watch Crosby and Marc-Andre Fleury play together one last time at the IIHF world championships? Then in the third segment, airing on the PG's Pirates YouTube channel, our duo ponders Ben Cherington's options as the season continues to slip away. Is there a trade he can make to salvage his job? Is that a move he should be allowed to make, given his track record? Would firing him have a bigger practical or psychological impact? And what should we make of the Paul Skenes trade chatter, initiated this past week by ESPN's Jeff Passan? Adam and Jason give their thoughts, then analyze the catching situation with Henry Davis and Joey Bart. And Alexander Canario's recent hot streak.

In the first hour, Dick Fain and Hugh Millen discuss NFL players taking part in Olympics flag football for the 2028 games, listen and react to John Schneider's comments about how and why DK Metcalf is no longer with the Seahawks plus his lack of statistics here.
Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise reacts to the day in Pittsburgh sports news live around 5 p.m. Eastern. He weighs in on a report from MMQB's Albert Breer that the Steelers inquired about trading for New Orleans Saints receiver Chris Olave earlier in the offseason. Were they right to make their move for DK Metcalf instead? Should general manager Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin mount another attempt to acquire Olave as a No. 2 after sending George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys? And how much confidence should we have in the current receivers room that includes names like Robert Woods, Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson? Paul weighs in on those question, the NFL's decision not the ban the "tush push" popularized by the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles; and the conclusion of the Pirates' three-game series with the Cincinnati Reds at PNC Park.
We are hearing more from George Pickens as he begins his Dallas Cowboys career. What should we expect out of Pickens this year? Will he have better numbers than DK Metcalf? The guys think it will blow up by Columbus Day, but Donny doesn't rule out that Pickens has 1,000 yards now that he has the best QB he's ever had. Would Will Howard do well on a radio show? The Tush Push did not get banned, despite the expectation going into the voting earlier today. The Steelers were one of the teams that voted to ban the play. Where do the guys come down on it? How many games could possibly get added to an NFL season? Former Penguin Tyler Kennedy joined the show. TK played golf with Joe, but Joe was frazzled after locking his keys in his car. Tyler said Joe was a pretty good golfer, but he was overcome by his frustration. Tyler said he had to leave the round early, but heard Joe got into a lot of shenanigans after the round and thinks he could find a membership out of this.
How much of a difference in win total will there be if Aaron Rodgers starts every game versus Mason Rudolph starting every game? Ben Roethlisberger thinks the team can win 11 games with Rodgers, but 7 games, at the most, with Rudolph. The guys don't get why Ben still punches down at Mason. What do we think are the real expectations with both guys at QB? The Pirates won the series against the Reds, but they scored just 5 runs in the 3 games. The hitters continue to be inept. The pitching was spectacular and it has been for most of the season. Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk joined the show. Is it true that Aaron Rodgers could show up in the preseason and the Steelers would live with that? Mike told a story of Brett Favre showing up late and winning over the team on the very first day. Mike still thinks the Steelers are better with Rodgers than they are without him and explained what the DK Metcalf move means coming from their front office. What is the future like for Mason Rudolph? Mike doesn't rule out Will Howard benefiting greatly from Rodgers being his starting QB. The guys asked Mike why the Steelers were among the teams voting to ban the Tush Push earlier today. Mike talked about the movement for flag football in the Olympics and what it could look like.

On his weekly Chipped Ham & Football podcast, Post-Gazette Steelers insider Brian Batko ranks the team's 2025 schedule by degree of difficulty. Will Myles Garrett and the Browns be the easiest foe coach Mike Tomlin's team sees? Or will they still be able to challenge the offense that's been re-tooled with names including DK Metcalf, Kenneth Gainwell and -- possibly -- QB Aaron Rodgers? How much pressure will offensive juggernauts like the Bills and Lions put on T.J. Watt, Cam Heyward, first-round pick Derrick Harmon and the team's new-look defense? Can they slow down stars like Josh Allen, Jahmyr Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown? Or will those guys find success like Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry of the division rival Ravens did in the playoffs last season? And how do Joe Burrow and the Bengals plus J.J. McCarthy and the Vikings factor into all of this? Brian tackles those questions and more.
Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise reacts to the day in Pittsburgh sports news live around 5 p.m. Eastern. Will Aaron Rodgers sign with the Steelers before OTAs, scheduled for next week? How much will it hurt preparation for coach Mike Tomlin's team if he doesn't? What could it mean for quarterbacks already under contract, including Mason Rudolph and Will Howard, or the chemistry with wide receivers including DK Metcalf, Robert Woods, Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson? And what should we make of comments Rodgers' biographer made last week? Paul tackles those questions, then gives his thoughts on a disastrous Pirates weekend series that included a brilliant Paul Skenes start wasted by a lack of offense.
On the Monday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by Edgar Snyder & Associates, Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Christopher Carter and Ray Fittipaldo analyze the advantages DK Metcalf gives the team as its No. 1 WR in place of George Pickens, who was traded to the Dallas Cowboys earlier this month. What does Metcalf do better than Pickens? Will he be a better fit in a WRs room with names including Calvin Austin III, Robert Woods and Roman Wilson? And how quickly can he generate chemistry with QBs including Mason Rudolph and -- possibly -- Aaron Rodgers? Our duo tackles those questions, plus lessons GM Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin should take from the ill-fated 2022 NFL draft in which they selected Pickens, Austin, Kenny Pickett, DeMarvin Leal and others. Then in the third segment, the guys ponder whether Aaron Rodgers or the offensive line -- including young players like Broderick Jones, Troy Fautanu, Zach Frazier and Mason McCormick -- are more important to the team for its upcoming late-season grind.
John Schneider had some interesting comments regarding the Seahawks deciding to part ways with DK Metcalf. We take a listen and try to read into exactly why Seattle decided to trade him away. Mollywhop Monday! Nathan Bishop of The Light Bat joins Dick to discuss the victorious first leg of the Vedder Cup as the Mariners swept the Dodgers this weekend. We focus on the outstanding pitching we saw this weekend. Nathan remains on to discuss the offense, which we certainly didn't count on being this hot quite yet. Walter Jones, Hall of Fame Left Tackle joins Dick to talk about a special even in which he's participating tomorrow. Of course, we discuss the Seahawks' recent investment in the offensive line, specifically in the draft and the tone Mike Macdonald is setting here in Seattle. Finally, are the Seahawks better at quarterback and what to make of the wide receiver room? We check the text line and talk to Gregg Bell!

On the Friday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by Edgar Snyder & Associates, Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Christopher Carter and Brian Batko ponder WR2 options for GM Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin following the George Pickens trade to the Dallas Cowboys. Should the team sign a big name like Keenan Allen, Amari Cooper or Gabe Davis to line up across from DK Metcalf this season? Should they make a trade for a name like Allen Lazard if Aaron Rodgers follows through on signing to play QB? Or should they look internally to names like Calvin Austin III, Roman Wilson and Robert Woods? Our duo tackles those questions, then offers reactions to the team's 2025 schedule -- released this week -- that includes a tough late-season stretch against the Bills, Ravens and Lions.

On the Monday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by Edgar Snyder & Associates, Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Christopher Carter and Ray Fittipaldo react to GM Omar Khan's comments about his receivers at rookie minicamp over the weekend. Does he really believe in the group as constituted, following the trade of George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys? Could Roman Wilson, Robert Woods and Calvin Austin really provide the necessary production behind DK Metcalf? Is Khan sending more smokescreens with an eye toward free agents like Keenan Allen and Amari Cooper? Our duo tackles those questions and more from rookie camp. What should we make of Will Howard's impressive practice performance? Can he push Mason Rudolph and possibly Aaron Rodgers come training camp? Or be a starter for this team in the future? And what difference will Trey Sermon make in the backfield next to names including Kaleb Johnson, Kenneth Gainwell and Jaylen Warren?
Steelers GM Omar Khan speaks with reporters in conjunction with the team's rookie minicamp at its South Side facility. He explains why the team decided to trade George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys this week; why he likes his depth at WR behind DK Metcalf with names like Roman Wilson, Robert Woods and Calvin Austin III; and why he didn't make a move with Pickens before the NFL draft.

Steve Palazzolo from the 33rd Team joined the show. Steve didn't want to pick a definitive winner between the Steelers and Cowboys with the George Pickens trade because he can see it really working for both sides here. Steve commented on the timing of this deal and has a feeling the Cowboys saw the player they wanted go ahead of time in the 1st round a couple weeks ago. Steve would love to see the Steelers focus more on 2026 and 2027 and keep building the roster for the future instead of continuing to try biting at that apple. Steve pointed out that we have never seen DK Metcalf as the sole receiving threat in an offense. Who are some names that could be legit WR2 options on the roster or guys the Steelers could bring in? Steve talked about the strategy of putting yourself in position to set yourself up for the future. The guys asked Steve about some upcoming QB prospects.

Bump and Stacy have their weekly conversation with Jordan Shusterman of Yahoo Sports to discuss how important Cal Raliegh is to the Mariners team, how he thinks the AL West will shake out this year, and what he expects to see from Julio this season, and they wrap up the show by answering your questions about the 2025 Seahawks biggest impact players and DK Metcalf’s future in the NFL in Four Down Territory.
On the Wednesday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by Edgar Snyder & Associates, Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Christopher Carter and Ray Fittipaldo react to the team's decision to trade WR George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. Why would GM Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin make this move now? After the NFL draft? If they thought they might trade Pickens, why didn't they draft a starter-quality receiver to pair with DK Metcalf? Could the team still sign a free agent like Keenan Allen or Amari Cooper? And could internal options like Calvin Austin III, Robert Woods and Roman Wilson step up? Our duo tackles those questions and more beyond the receivers room. How might the deal impact the team's pursuit of Aaron Rodgers in NFL free agency? And is the team clearly signaling an interest in acquiring a QB in the deep 2026 draft, the could include names such as Arch Manning, Drew Allar, Nico Iamaleava and LaNorris Sellers?
Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise reacts to the day in Pittsburgh sports news live around 5 p.m. Eastern, primarily the Steelers' decision to trade George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a third-round pick in next year's NFL draft. How does this move fit into a confusing offseason so far, one that's included big additions in DK Metcalf, Kenneth Gainwell and Darius Slay Jr; big subtractions in the form of Najee Harris, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields; plus a protracted pursuit of quarterback Aaron Rodgers? Are general manager Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin serious about competing this year? Or are they looking toward the 2026 NFL draft, in which they now have a basket of picks to pursue a quarterback like Arch Manning, Drew Allar, Nico Iamaleava and LaNorris Sellers? Paul tackles those questions and more on the football front, then talks Pirates and manager Derek Shelton's future after another series loss vs. the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Steelers have traded George Pickens and a 2027 6th round pick to the Dallas Cowboys for a 2026 3rd and 2027 5th round pick. We will not see Pickens and DK Metcalf paired together and the timing of the trade is interesting. Pickens caused issues for the Steelers with players having to talk to him on the sideline, showing up late for meetings, and being a problem for the Steelers with lack of blocking and other frustrations.
Donny Football Debrief – So… does DK Metcalf get #14 back?
The Steelers have traded George Pickens to the Cowboys in exchange for a 3rd round pick along with a swap of late picks in the 2027 draft. The guys are happy to say goodbye. Poni went as far to say this would be among the best trades in Steelers history. It turned into a celebration because the guys think this will all blow up on Dallas and leave the Steelers laughing in the dust. Could it turn into another Diontae Johnson situation? The only thing Pickens has on his side is a better QB. Are fans happy with the George Pickens trade? Donny Football Debrief – So… does DK Metcalf get #14 back?
Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise reacts to the day in Pittsburgh sports news live around 5 p.m. Eastern. Do the Steelers have enough depth at receiver now that Robert Woods has joined Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson behind DK Metcalf and George Pickens? Or will those three still have to prove themselves as reliable pieces for coach Mike Tomlin and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith? And is the team's talk of becoming more physical following the NFL draft legit now that names like Derrick Harmon, Kaleb Johnson, Jack Sawyer and Yahya Black are in the fold? Paul tackles those questions; ponders the desirability of the Penguins job for NHL coaches; and wonders whether it's time to worry about Paul Skenes after his rocky Thursday start cost the Pirates a series win vs. the Chicago Cubs.
Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise reacts to the day in Pittsburgh sports news live around 5 p.m. Eastern. How much better did general manager Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin make the team's roster this offseason now that the NFL draft is complete? Are the Steelers better positioned to compete following the trade for DK Metcalf; the signings of names like Kenneth Gainwell and Darius Slay Jr.; and the drafting of players including Derrick Harmon, Jack Sawyer, Kaleb Johnson and Will Howard? Was it enough to replace what they lost in players like Russell Wilson, Justin Fields and Najee Harris? And how much hinges on Aaron Rodgers finally signing with the team? Paul tackles those questions, then welcomes Plum hockey coach Jon Gratton to discuss the Penguins' firing of Mike Sullivan as coach on Monday.
