Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise reacts to the day in Pittsburgh sports news live around 5 p.m. Eastern. Specifically, he gives his thoughts on news that Rams receiver Cooper Kupp expects to be traded this offseason. Should Steelers GM Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin look to add him to the team's receiver corps? How would he fit with what Arthur Smith's offense already has in George Pickens and Calvin Austin III? And how would such a move influence the team's NFL draft and free agency plans? Later, Paul checks in on Pitt basketball after yet another costly defeat Monday against Virginia. And he weighs in on top Pirates storylines with spring training set to begin in a little over a week.
Alan Saunders and Zachary Smith discuss all things Pittsburgh Steelers. On today's show, we discuss the idea of the team trading for LA Rams' offensive stars Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford. Do either one of these moves make sense or move the needle for the team? We then dive into the report that the Steelers changed their offensive gameplans up during their losing streak to become less pass oriented and more focused on the run game. Despite their lack of success on the ground, was this the right move? Was it an overreaction to short term results? Finally, we discuss Alan's Super Bowl media night experience, catching up with Kenny Pickett and Juju Smith-Schuster and others. Let's go for another Steelers Afternoon Drive and discuss! Jerry would not move on from Capel and thinks they can still make some damage down the stretch. A report from Gerry Dulac that there was a major falling out between Arthur Smith (Mike Tomlin) and Russell Wilson following the Steelers win in Cincinnati – one of the team's final victories. It is suggested that Wilson went rogue in the game and that didn't go over well. The offense looked great that day, but that quickly met its demise. The guys think if this is true, how can you possibly bring Wilson back? What kind of positive is there to the Russell Wilson fallout with Arthur Smith? College Basketball Minute – Pitt was embarrassed last night by Virginia. Are the March Madness dreams over? This would be 5 of 6 years under Jeff Capel that Pitt misses the dance.

Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise reacts to the day in Pittsburgh sports news live around 5 p.m. Eastern. What should we make of Russell Wilson's comments at the Pro Bowl over the weekend, in which he expressed a preference to remain with the Steelers in NFL free agency instead of possibly reuniting with former Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll via the Las Vegas Raiders? Does it matter what Wilson wants if general manager Omar Khan, coach Mike Tomlin and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith prefer Justin Fields? And what impact could Myles Garrett's trade request have on the AFC North rival Cleveland Browns? Paul tackles those topics, plus Pitt basketball's costly loss to Wake Forest over the weekend; Penn State football's introduction of Jim Knowles as defensive coordinator; and the Penguins trade that sent Marcus Pettersson and Drew O'Connor to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for two NHL players, a prospect and a first-round NHL draft pick.
Steelers reporter Nick Farabaugh from Penn Live dot com joined the show. Nick told the guys about his trip to the Senior Bowl last week. Nick said the Steelers are not interested in the QB crop in this year's draft, at least they didn't show it in any of the group he saw. He thinks the team is a lot more interested in the 2026 QB class. Nick brought up the defensive line group because that was the crew that garnered the most attention from Steelers brass. Nick described the DL group as an all-time deep position group. How much does Keeanu Benton have to step up? Nick talked about how involved Mike Tomlin is in the Senior Bowl activities. More w/ Nick – Nick talked about the overall draft class in 2025 and how some scouts think the middle part of it is flush and there aren't a ton of elite players. Nick doesn't understand the hype over Jaxson Dart as he climbs up the ranks. How are some of these QBs? Nick is interested in some of the tools that guys can offer, but he thinks there will be some better players slipping into the middle rounds. Nick does not see Quinshon Judkins being a Steeler because he is too similar to Najee Harris as a player. Nick thinks Emeka Egbuka is a very high-floor player, but the ceiling may not be sky-high. More w/ Nick – Nick said it's so hard to tell if George Pickens will be a Steeler by Week 1, but he expects him to follow the Brandon Aiyuk playbook in training camp. The key to Pickens' performance banks on the team getting him involved early. Nick talked about the Steelers current QB situation and why he still likes Justin Fields back as the team's starting QB. But how much will they hold him back in the offense or cater to his strengths? Nick described the offense under Arthur Smith as a disaster in the first year. He speculated that Russell Wilson could get, maybe, $15M per year.
