Steelers correspondent Mark Kaboly from The Pat McAfee Show joined the show. Mark told us about his days on the Pirates beat. Instead of telling us if a guy was a bad guy, he just called them ‘interesting.' Mark said there is “no way” Aaron Rodgers was coming out of a Strip District hotel this morning. Mark took a guess at when Rodgers is here. Mark chatted with Mason Rudolph earlier this week, but Mason couldn't say for sure when Rodgers is showing up – they are all just assuming. We also spent some time talking about the Harry Callas political run that fell just shy of a chair seat in Green Tree. More w/ Mark – Mark reacted to Booger McFarland claiming the Steelers are ‘taking years' off the life of their defense. Mark does not think the veterans are upset with Mason Rudolph or will be upset with him if he ends up being the QB. He said the team should be upset at the succession plan since Ben Roethlisberger retired. Mark said we haven't seen Mason work with Arthur Smith or his offense – and added that Aaron Rodgers would want a lot of control. Would Smith have preferred Justin Fields at QB? Mark isn't worried about Cam Heyward or TJ Watt sitting out any practices. More w/ Mark – Poni asked Mark why he was looking up Donny's highlights earlier this week. Does Mark buy into any of the conspiracy theories that Joe Rogan may have talked to Aaron Rodgers about? Did Mark have any other tea on George Pickens following his departure?
May 20 – Ep. 56: On this episode of The Depot Dive, Ross McCorkle and Joe Clark kick things off by discussing some comments made by former Steelers QB Charlie Batch. They debate his opinion about Mason Rudolph potentially gaining an edge over Aaron Rodgers if he waits too long to sign. We talk about that opinion as well as some things said by his biographer at the end of last week. For the second topic, we discuss Mason Rudolph's interview on Kaboly + Mack where he talks about the QB depth chart, getting acclimated to Arthur Smith's offense and more. Finally, we discuss the annual media projections of the Steelers having their first losing season under Mike Tomlin and why that is unlikely to happen regardless of who is at quarterback. Thank you for joining us for this 31-minute episode, and we hope to see your thoughts in the comment section. Charlie Batch told our buddy Arthur Moats that he thinks Mason Rudolph could have an edge at starting quarterback over Aaron Rodgers. Really? We had some theories about why he would say it. Is this another nudge by the Steelers to get Rodgers to sign soon? The guys talked about Brett Favre playing his cards late in his career and making many people play the guessing game. Poni isn't convinced ‘a lot of people (with the Steelers)' want Rodgers. There was then a ranking of who Arthur Smith may have wanted at QB and how he hasn't had a chance to stand up to Mike Tomlin about his quarterback decisions. There was a discussion about the offense with Justin Fields and Russell Wilson last season and how things changed or stayed the same. How will battles go between Rodgers and Tomlin?

Another national voice telling us that Mike Tomlin would have a job in 5 seconds if the Steelers fired him. That has us asking – so what? Donny Football Debrief – Some rule changes will be voted upon this week, including the playoff seeding rule change that doesn't guarantee a home game for division winners.
May 6 – Ep. 54: On this episode of The Depot Dive, Joe Clark and Ross McCorkle kick things off by talking about Arthur Smith admitting that he had to pivot his offensive scheme last year to fit the personnel. We discuss how different the offense might look in 2025 and the various reasons why. For the next topic, we discuss the high level of hype surrounding sixth-round QB Will Howard. How or when will he get his opportunity, and why did he slide to the sixth round? We grapple with all of those questions and more. For the third topic, we talk about some of the top things to watch at Rookie Minicamp this upcoming weekend including drafted rookies, undrafted free agents and tryout players. To wrap things up we answer a listener question about George Pickens supposed compensatory value if the Steelers don't trade him. Steelers correspondent Mark Kaboly from The Pat McAfee Show joined the show. Where does Mark zero-out on Mike Tomlin entering his 19th season? Mark applauded the Steelers a bit for ‘rebuilding' seasons still netting them 8 to 9 wins per season. Mark thinks the next couple of years have to lead to ‘significant' runs. Mark thinks Art Rooney is a future HOFer and would be the deciding factor in ending things with Tomlin down the road, not Tomlin making the choice himself. Mark said Rooney has been a major factor in pushing the Steelers to a more digital age. Chris and Mark talked about some of the lack of on-field evolution from Tomlin and the Steelers in recent years. More w/ Mark – Mark defended his stance on why he thinks Art Rooney II will eventually be a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The draft became the discussion point and what the Steelers did following the Derrick Harmon selection. How much different will Kaleb Johnson be in the backfield opposed to Najee Harris? Mark mentioned something Arthur Smith said about Najee last week. Chris asked Mark about the Steelers going with an edge rusher in Jack Sawyer in the 4th round. Was Shedeur Sanders on the Steelers draft board, or was he on it at all? Mark wants people to slow the roll with Will Howard becoming a star. At pick 185, it's fine if Howard is a long-term backup that doesn't get a ton of snaps during the offseason. More w/ Mark – Power Rankings.
Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise reacts to the day in Pittsburgh sports news live around 5 p.m. Eastern. Do the Steelers have enough depth at receiver now that Robert Woods has joined Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson behind DK Metcalf and George Pickens? Or will those three still have to prove themselves as reliable pieces for coach Mike Tomlin and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith? And is the team's talk of becoming more physical following the NFL draft legit now that names like Derrick Harmon, Kaleb Johnson, Jack Sawyer and Yahya Black are in the fold? Paul tackles those questions; ponders the desirability of the Penguins job for NHL coaches; and wonders whether it's time to worry about Paul Skenes after his rocky Thursday start cost the Pirates a series win vs. the Chicago Cubs.
Hour 4 with Joe Starkey: Mike would have made the Derrick Harmon pick. Mike defends Limits' point that if Will Howard becomes like Landy Jones, it would be a good pick for the Steelers. Will we see the full Arthur Smith offense? Oneil Cruz is starting to become a star. He might already be there. We would try to extend Cruz.

A check in conversation with James Arthur Smith, founder of Seatopia, about their data-driven focus on nutrient density (plus mercury/microplastics testing) resonates more strongly than abstract “sustainability” marketing strategy and it ultimately driving real ecosystem restoration. We explore how Seatopia defines regenerative aquaculture in a multi- trophic system—integrating finfish alongside shellfish and seaweeds, how they measure and quantify our impact at every step and how they partner with artisan milling companies developing species-appropriate feeds that eliminate fishmeal, soy, corn, and canola oil—pivoting toward insect protein and algae-based oils.More about this episode on https://investinginregenerativeagriculture.com/james-arthur-smith-2.==========================In Investing in Regenerative Agriculture and Food podcast show we talk to the pioneers in the regenerative food and agriculture space to learn more on how to put our money to work to regenerate soil, people, local communities and ecosystems while making an appropriate and fair return.
