it's obvious that 1 person can't dig up an entire body of work on such a massive topic, but this being something I've been through, i just wanted to narrate my subjective experience
strange month for my taste in movies!
20th August 2021, Celebrating 5 years of the album that changed the way I and so many others listen to music. . The link to my essay is: https://medium.com/@mannavwrites/how-frank-oceans-blonde-mastered-the-art-of-a-perfectly-paced-and-structured-studio-album-34381540e864 . The Strokes' debut album is filled with the expectation and anticipation of long-term change. It feels built specifically for the existentialism of reaching new points in life.
discussing the recent Lil Nas X and Da Baby incidents.
Reading out an essay i wrote dissecting inner prejudices and previewed a cool new beat i made, i'll probably make that a recurring segment, we'll see.
from last Sunday to this Sunday, I recorded the first thing that came to my head that I felt I could talk about for a few minutes. episodes that have a singular theme for the entire time are beginning to escape me, and this format was really fun to record and put together. the topics, if you're interested, are as follows. 1. Viral Content passes by too quick 2. Cup Noodles are Intimate 3. I just had a nice day :)
We have a potential album of the year with Tyler, the Creator !!
possibly the most wholesome episode of Talking to the Void so far, that's really all i have to say.
Who Fell Off? Listen to my Thoughts.
so I got vaccinated :) and didn't expect to suffer as much as I have :) but it's worth it :)
*disappears for a month* so what's up? welcome back. I'm cleaning out my cupboard for no reason.
Do you wanna know what it's like to create every week for this show? listen in! (it's not that fun)
Fall Out Boy provides "big heartbreak energy" on their 2015 record. My favorite tracks are Immortals, Favorite Record and Novacaine. My least favorite is Irresistible. 9/10
I think we've lost the art of good racing films, so today I decided to revisit Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift and give my thoughts on this dying but brilliant genre.
Inspired by this Nathan Zed video: https://youtu.be/xYJnsLUywik , I think it's time artists gave their albums more well-rounded love.
mannav and poppy answer the infamous question: "Was my fit hard". We talk about Tokyo Drift, our personal fashion tastes, why sneaker culture sucks, wanting a Converse sponsorship and why you shouldn't wear Crocs unless you're Adam Sandler. We also dunk on the new trend of rich kids starting Thrift Stores and have only one word of advice to aspiring fashionistas: "don't be a d*ck".
Poppy and I discuss the music that provided the soundtrack to our time in self isolation, and the importance of being alone, but mainly, we geeked about Blonde. Watch the video we spoke about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZ_Bu4dfeMs
Today, 15/4/21, marks the one year anniversary of the Void's trailer being released, so I thought I'd revisit it.
Hi! Today we have an Interview with Udbhav, he is a New Delhi based rapper, singer-songwriter, musician and performer. Listen to his music: https://open.spotify.com/artist/5z64uWhlp31wS6DysFX99p?si=BAeLOjW4RvOy7sY4-vibSQ&utm_source=copy-link
19th March 2021 [the day I'm posting this] marks one year of my whole world shutting down and out around me. All episodes of talking to the void have been cumulatively streamed two thousand times, thanks.
Do I hate myself? the answer really isn't a simple yes or no, I contain multitudes, we all do.

welcome to me reading eight poems that speak to me, I'll be reading them out and explaining what they mean to me. poetry, if it isn't apparent already, is something I'm very passionate about and following in Megha Rao's footsteps, to read some of it out, is the best way to combine this podcast with my passion. I'd love feedback on this episode particularly, thank you for your time.
it's just not good, no redeeming qualities whatsoever, and I'm not even sure if that's a hot take or not. Please read this article about prostitution: http://www.prostitutionresearch.com/pdf/Prostitutionin9countries.pdf
rap music, now considered the largest genre worldwide, has had a polarizing rise to fame. today, I wanna discuss misconceptions, point out fallacies in it's criticisms and generally assert my love for modern rap. the playlist for u: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/00w0O6y5I9ZZAb6jhJJnFn?si=kcjQnH9uSuqXp5-Kv-VwHw

A concept album is an album whose tracks hold a larger purpose or meaning collectively than they do individually. This is typically achieved through a single central narrative or theme, which can be instrumental, compositional, or lyrical. Listen on to watch two nerds dissect their favorites.
of all the rappers I could've picked, why logic? as corny as his music is to me now, I grew up on it. so it makes sense that I'm paying homage to my introduction to rap music, I shit on him for most of this episode tho lol skip to number 3 if you wanna a-void the criticism.
a brief overview on the stuff that's constantly trending
Hello its ur local Cishet man talking about this society we live in. understand that I can't possibly encompass everything about everything ever in 14 minutes, bear with me. I do it to generate healthier discussion on what can benefit society as a whole, not social media reach, but you can always spread the word.
two of the funniest people I know, myself and my sister team up to explain a movie, contrary to watching it. she reveals the name of the movie at the end of the ep, to create suspense (how quirky).
if you dont know already, Frank is my favorite musical artist currently, his discography is weird; consisting of demo tapes, to music leaks to an entire album made up of visuals. there's very few artists who's ENTIRE discography I've heard and would be able to rank like this. but hey, I love the guy, and you do stuff for the people you love. listen to his stuff: https://mixtapemonkey.com/artist/82/frank-ocean
So I originally scripted this as a video before realizing I have the camera confidence of a deer. but since my podcast is an expendable outlet, I'm dropping this PSA as a Bonus episode. this is far more serious than my usual work and does not mark my return to this series. I'll be back later. (this honestly applies to all art forms not just poetry).
Did you know that my first jaunt at podcast hosting was almost three years ago? I never explained it, so I assume not. but I feel like I should get around to that story eventually. so here is the Season One Finale, i really need a break and this is the perfect opportunity to take one. I genuinely have no idea when I'll be back, but don't consider this an abandonment, I'm not your dad ;). jokes aside, thank you for pushing me to make TWENTY whole episodes of this. I'll be back at some point in the distant future, we'll see. you can always come back to my back-catalogue, it'll be here.
This episode, I capitalise on the "Travis Scott Burger" meme in the same way that he's capitalising off of 14 year olds. I discuss the meal, the accompanying merchandise and give my thoughts on it's impact and consequences. In my broke boy opinion, it's pretty two sided, ranging from artistic expression through products to inconveniencing fast food workers. Listen on to find out how I fully feel.
two bros bitchin' about random stuff on the interwebz, this isn't meant to be taken seriously, we just observed some things and thought we'd discuss them.
art has always served a purpose deeper than entertainment. on today's episode, I've taken up Kid Cudi's 2015 album "Speedin' Bullet 2 Heaven" and dissected it in the wider context of not only music but also art as a whole. This episode is an attempt to understand the expression of personal struggle through art in a way that exhales pressure and captures audience. i attempt dissect everything to do with this album also in relation to my own artistic process, this is probably my most high-effort episode till date.
YouTube is my favorite media platform ever, i felt the episode was a long time considering my influences and inspirations, listen in for my insight into the past and current waves of the platform.
