Sean Combs, known to listeners worldwide as Puffy or P Diddy, remains one of the most high-profile and talked-about figures in entertainment, but the headlines this week focus on his ongoing legal battles and the drama surrounding his sentencing. After a seven-week New York trial, Sean Diddy Combs was found guilty of two prostitution-related charges while being acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering. According to a CNN report, a group of top Trump administration officials were set to meet last night at Vice President JD Vance's residence to discuss whether to publish details of Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche's meetings with Ghislaine Maxwell. Both Trump and Vance called the report fake news, but CNN says the meeting was to include Vance, White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel and Todd Blanche. Trump is also saying, and expects us to believe, that he hasn't been briefed on what Maxwell told Blanche during their two meetings and that he wasn't aware of the decision to move Maxwell to a prison camp in Texas. We welcome former U.S. Pardon attorney Liz Oyer to The Mark Thompson Show. We'll ask her about a potential Maxwell pardon and how that might play out.

Sean “Diddy” Combs, also known as Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, or simply Diddy, remains in the global spotlight as his sprawling legal saga continues to grip the music industry and beyond. Recently, there's been a new twist: RadarOnline reports that Combs, currently holed up in New York's Metropolitan Detention Center after being found guilty of two counts related to prostitution while being cleared of the most severe sex trafficking charge, is reportedly plotting a high-profile comeback with Kanye West. Sources close to Combs say he's determined to reenter Hollywood's power circles and sees Kanye, who has stuck by him throughout his legal woes, as a key ally in this effort. Last month, Kanye even released a track called “Diddy Free,” including a phone call with Combs and has launched 'Free Puff' merchandise despite widespread backlash and a temporary suspension from X after a controversial post supporting Combs. Bitcoin noteerde woensdagavond warrempel een nieuwe recordkoers: iets boven de 112.000 dollar. Inmiddels is de koers iets teruggezakt. Opvallend is dat daar geen échte retailhype omheen hangt. De vraag naar Bitcoin lijkt vooral te komen van bedrijven die massaal bitcoin inslaan voor op hun balans. Opmerkelijk is de aankoop van 70 miljoen dollar aan Bitcoin door designplatform Figma – zonder grote aankondiging of ronkend persbericht. Het lijkt steeds normaler te worden voor Amerikaanse bedrijven om in Bitcoin te stappen. Ethereum en XRP boekten deze week een winst van zo’n 10 procent. In Europa heeft de Spaanse grootbank BBVA een primeur. Als eerste grote Europese bank lanceert het een crypto-platform voor klanten. Via de bankapp kunnen gebruikers nu Bitcoin en Ethereum kopen en bewaren. De stap volgt na eerdere experimenten in Turkije en Zwitserland en betekent dat BBVA zich in eigen land profileert als koploper op het gebied van digitale assets. De bank spreekt de ambitie uit om in de toekomst ook stablecoins, getokeniseerde obligaties en fondsen aan te bieden. De Europese cryptowetgeving, bekend als MiCAR, speelt hierbij een belangrijke rol. Omdat banken als BBVA al onder streng financieel toezicht staan, kunnen ze relatief eenvoudig instappen. In Nederland blijft het vooralsnog stil: alleen Bunq biedt crypto aan, al zijn de kosten daar relatief hoog. Verder viel er iets bijzonders te zien op het Bitcoin-netwerk: een oude wallet met tachtigduizend Bitcoin, ter waarde van zo’n 8 miljard dollar, werd na meer dan een decennium weer actief. De munten dateren uit 2011, toen Bitcoin nog een nicheproject was. Op sociale media wordt gespeculeerd dat deze coins in handen zijn van Roger Ver, ook wel bekend als 'Bitcoin Jesus'. Hij raakte in ongenade na een scheuring binnen de bitcoingemeenschap en zit momenteel vast in Spanje wegens belastingontduiking. De munten lijken niet direct richting een beurs te zijn gestuurd, wat erop wijst dat ze vooralsnog niet verkocht worden. Mogelijk zijn ze enkel verplaatst naar een veiliger en nieuwer type adres.
