Op beelden waren twee kleine touchés te zien met een renner van Picnic PostNL. Verslaggevers Maxim Horssels en Youri IJnsen waren verbolgen over die beslissing van de jury, want de Belg kreeg er ook nog een gele kaart voor. Eind goed al goed, want de jury nam de enige juiste beslissing: bij nader inzien werd de DSQ teruggedraaid.Ook over de eindsprint raken ze niet uitgepraat. Olav Kooij betaalde daar zuiver leergeld. Hij besloot aantrekker Cees Bol los te laten, maar daarna reed de 24-jarige Nederlander wel de snelste sprint van allemaal. Kooij had de sprint kunnen winnen. Dat deed uiteindelijk Søren Wærenskjold, die het juiste moment koos en niet twijfelde. De weg naar de top van de Noor is bewonderenswaardig.
