(00:00-19:39) It's Friday, what else do you have to do? Doug matched his ear buds to his top today. Another morning of St. Louis sports apologists radio. Do you do White Castle before or after the Blues game? Looking for stepdads on the prowl. Doug wants to the Army/Navy game played on Veteran's Day. Mom Goggles. Wide delta SZN.(19:47-41:20) An algorithm full of neckbeards. Some of these guys are just gonna have to get in line. Martin had a monologue about the MLS schedule change. The arbiter of interest. Uniform Boi's take on the Thursday Night Football uniforms. Jackson's war on silver pants. Who's Stan Lee? What's the best uniform division in the NFL? Oxford slaps hard. Jackson can contradict himself all he wants.(41:30-53:35) Feel it, feel it. Doug's going to Columbia tomorrow. We almost lost Gus Johnson at the end of the Indiana Penn State game last week. Offers coming in for Doug. Harry Hogge has offered up his Blues tickets for tonight for today's EMOTD prize. Emails for pleasure. 0:00 — Welcome! Unfortunate last names you have to say on a broadcast 5:10 — Sam Houston defeats Oregon State and the guys call the head coach13:00 — NCAAF Week in Review: Peter doesn't like Gus Johnson's IU-Penn State call; gritty Indiana win Heisman odds; how should the committee view Oregon & Indiana's win(s) over Penn State; Oregon guts out win over Iowa37:35 — NCAAF big games preview, bets43:50 — NFL Week in Review: Best & worst bets of the weekend, Sean Payton conspiracy, Jonathan Taylor is on another level, MVP discussion, petty Mike McDaniel1:09:05 — NFL Preview, bets, survivor pool
On this week's Breaking Sports with Yarbs & Will, the guys thaw out from a surprise snow and dive straight into a wild slate: Indiana–Penn State's toe-tap classic (was that Francisco Mendoza's Heisman moment?) and a spirited side rant on Gus Johnson going full Nic Cage; why Texas A&M might secretly be No. 1 while the ACC keeps eating itself; USC's jersey-swap fake-punt loophole; and LSU's Brian Kelly mess, buyout brinkmanship, and statehouse drama. They unpack the growing prop-bet scandal (why college props might be first on the chopping block), then hit Sports STAT: Cade Cunningham's 45 on 45 shots, a Browns-Jets stat unicorn, and Philly's turnover stinginess. Pop-culture pit stop: a new Eddie Murphy doc sparks a “3-on-3” of their favorite Eddie films (Beverly Hills Cop, Trading Places, Coming to America and more). The Get Off My Lawn duo goes at the NBA's new USA vs. World All-Star format and the habit of gold-jacket-ing QBs after five good games. Finally: Panthers-Saints autopsy (does Dave Canales trust Bryce Young?), plus whether late-season Thursday nighters should exist at all. It's jokes, receipts, and rants—STAT.
Boomer and Gio kick off the hour blasting Aaron Glenn for going after reporters Gio says you can't act like that unless you're winning, and warns that the media will turn on him fast. The guys also get into how beat reporters and opinion columnists are blurring together in today's NFL coverage. They pivot to Fernando Mendoza's NFL potential before Jerry's update brings more fireworks: Glenn's media meltdown, Bill Belichick saying he's “on to Wake Forest,” and Mike Valenti torching Gus Johnson on Detroit radio. The Knicks keep rolling at MSG, Jim Rome reacts to the Mavs firing Nico Harrison, and big news breaks Jameis Winston is set to start Sunday against the Packers. Plus, the Patriots unveil their icy new “nor'easter” uniforms, and a caller makes his pitch for Antonio Pierce as the next Giants head coach.

The episode begins with the traditional "Who's who you bring into the bar" segment. Hot topics include placing Mavericks executive Nico Harrison in the hot seat due to the team's "pathetic start" and celebrating Joe Burrow's return to practice after injury. A dramatic highlight is House's enthusiastic (and loud) tribute to Gus Johnson's commentary on an Indiana game-winning catch against Penn State, describing the spectacular, contorted play. Baseball talk surfaces with the mention of Japanese power hitter Munetaka Murakami becoming a free agent. College football takes over as the final segment, centered on the nail-biting Indiana victory over Penn State and the physics-defying catch that won the game, declaring the Hoosiers are now on a "collision course with Ohio State for the Big Ten Championship". The SEC picture is discussed, with Texas A&M being declared the best team until proven otherwise. There's significant attention paid to Texas (UT), which, if they "run the table" and beat Georgia and Texas A&M, could potentially secure a spot in the College Football Playoff. Finally, the hosts analyze the chaotic situation in the ACC, where multiple one-loss teams like Pitt, Georgia Tech, and SMU are vying for the championship. There's a concern that if the ACC champion is not a top 25 team, the conference could miss out on a College Football Playoff spot entirely.

Czabe wraps up a crazy weekend in sports. Starting with the "greatest catch" in football history? The play absolutely wrecked Gus Johnson's voice, which was either an epic call, or another "nails on chalkboard" indictment of the Fox screamer. ANDY POLLIN joins to discuss the Commanders getting destroyed by the Lions. Trump appearance goes poorly. Wisconsin storms the field. Big10 ready to do something reckless. The drummer and percussionist Billy Martin, whose name many Time Sensitive listeners may recognize—he created the Time Sensitive theme song—defies any boxed-in or limiting definitions of his work. Best known as a member of the band Medeski Martin & Wood (MMW), he's spent the past three-plus decades making experimental, boundary-pushing, and uncategorizable instrumental jazz-funk-groove music, shaping sounds that feel as expansive as they are definitive and distinctive. Across all his artistic output, Martin continually, meditatively searches for harmony. He is also a composer, a teacher, a visual artist, and a builder and craftsman. His expansive creative practice comes most alive at his home in Englewood, New Jersey, where he has cultivated a bamboo garden, crafted his own Japanese-style teahouse, and constructed a music studio. Martin is someone for whom rhythm is not just something heard, but also seen and felt.On the episode, he talks about his MMW journey at length, his concept of “rhythmic harmony,” and why he views sound creation as a sacred act.Special thanks to our Season 11 presenting sponsor, Van Cleef & Arpels.Show notes:Billy Martin[7:31] Medeski Martin & Wood[7:31] John Medeski[7:31] Chris Wood[7:31] “Not Not Jazz” (2024)[10:12] Iggy Pop's “Avenue B” (1999)[10:12] Don Was[11:27] “The Lover” (1995)[11:27] “Friday Afternoon in the Universe” (1995)[11:27] “Old Angel Midnight” (1973) by Jack Kerouac[13:44] Ra-Kalam Bob Moses[13:44] John Scofield[13:44] David Baker[15:57] “Shuck It Up” (1993)[15:57] “It's a Jungle in Here” (1993)[18:12] “Latin Shuffle” (1998)[18:12] “Combustication” (1998)[18:12] Frankie Malabe[18:12] Art Blakey[33:25] Thelonious Monk[33:58] “Life on Drums” (2011)[38:32] John Bonham[38:32] Charlie Watts[38:32] Stewart Copeland[38:32] Elvin Jones[38:32] Max Roach[38:32] Danny Richmond[38:32] Charles Mingus[38:32] Jack DeJohnette[38:32] Joe Morello[38:32] Roy Haynes[38:32] Stan Getz[38:32] Airto Moreira[38:32] Naná Vasconcelos[38:32] Babatunde Olatunji[39:58] Gus Johnson[39:58] “Whatever Happened to Gus” (1998)[39:58] Steve Cannon[40:54] “Chubb Sub” (1995)[40:54] ”Uncle Chubb” (1992)[46:41] “Shack-man” (1996)[47:06] “Drumming Birds” (2004)[54:48] “Bamboo Rainsticks” (1999)[54:48] Amulet Records[1:00:23] Creative Music Studio
