Less than 2% of women facing an unplanned pregnancy choose adoption for their child. Why? We chat about the hindrances and stigmas around adoption + the honest reasons that women should seriously consider it if they are sure they can't parent themselves. We also introduce you to an amazing organization, BraveLove, that is changing the view of birth mothers around adoption and seeing them as modern day heroes! So thankful you've joined us!! Fatherhood matters and is crucial in our society, as well as, in the decision for life around an unplanned pregnancy. Our guest today is Chris Petty, the husband of our host, Traci Petty. Chris grew up in a very broken home. His father left his life when he was about 2 years old and then signed his parental rights away when Chris was in about 2nd grade. A string of four step-fathers tattered his life by the time he left high school. Those experiences gave him the determination to be a better Dad than he had ever seen. The TX Heartbeat Law has endured public backlash since it went into effect on September 1, 2021. We talk about some of those individuals, companies and corporations that have made a stand against this law and for abortion (Google, Go Daddy, Lyft, Uber, Ben & Jerry's, etc). We also chat briefly about the Women's Health Protection Act (HR 3755) that passed by the U.S. House of Representatives, but is still awaiting to be heard by Congress. We also learn about an individual that breaks the mold - Terrisa Bukovinac is a Democrat, athiest feminist and she is pro-life. She launched “ProLife San Francisco” on October 1, 2021 and is fighting for life in the womb from a non-conservative, non-religious position. She inspires you to not put yourself into a box, but instead be all of the complicated things that make one beautiful. The Texas Heartbeat Law went into effect on September 1, 2021. It stops elective abortions in the state of Texas after a detectable heartbeat exists. There has been a lot of controversy around this law and in this episode we are stating the facts of the law & disputing the myths/mis-information that have been spreading on social media with the truth. It's an overwhelming subject and one that we intend to set the record straight so that Texas women facing unplanned pregnancies are fully informed and can set aside any fears they have been feeling since September 1st.
