(Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Ugandan Muslims stab Christian evangelist Morning Star News reports hardline Muslims stabbed a Christian evangelist in eastern Uganda earlier this month. The attackers stabbed 39-year-old Robert Kasozi in the stomach and beat three of his co-workers. This came after Robert engaged in open-air preaching and led a 75-year-old widow to Christ. Angered by this, the widow's relatives attacked the Christians and tore up their Bibles. Thankfully, the man is recovering from his wounds in the hospital, but has vowed to file a case with the police upon his return home. Authorities did not arrest any of the Muslim attackers at the time though some were known to area residents. This was the latest of many instances of persecution against Christians in Uganda documented by Morning Star News. Northern Ireland to threaten religious liberty Northern Ireland is considering legislation that could threaten religious liberty. Lawmakers for the region may consolidate existing so-called “equality” laws into one new law. The Christian Institute warns this could undermine religious liberty and “detrimentally affect the work of churches.” Officials previously used equality laws to target a Christian bakery for refusing to participate in celebrating sexually perverted lifestyles. Sam Webster with The Christian Institute told lawmakers, “Laws can be passed very easily, but legislators don't necessarily always see the implications further down the track for other protected characteristics.” Isaiah 10:1 says, “Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, who write misfortune, which they have prescribed.” Trump's budget passes the House In the United States, before the vote on President Donald Trump's budget on Tuesday, House Speaker Mike Johnson made these remarks. JOHNSON: “We promised to deliver President Trump's full agenda, not just a part of it. We're not just going to do a little bit now and return later for the rest. We have to do it now. And that ‘one big, beautiful bill' will include securing the border, restoring America's energy dominance, dismantling the deep state, growing our economy, ensuring we don't have the largest tax increase in US history, and a return to peace through strength. “We do not have time to waste. The American people are expecting us to deliver on this, and we will. House Republicans need to unite so we can keep this process moving forward. And I think they all understand that we're working right now to get everybody on board. I think everybody wants to be on this train and not in front of it.” The resolution passed 217-215 with no Democrat support and one Republican voting against it. The proposal lays a framework for enacting President Donald Trump's legislative agenda. It cuts $4.5 trillion in taxes and at least $1.5 trillion in spending and raises the debt ceiling by $4 trillion. The resolution would allow for the defunding of Planned Parenthood which receives hundreds of millions of dollars from the government each year. The proposal heads to the Senate where it must get bipartisan support. Georgia Supreme Court upheld Heartbeat Law The Supreme Court of Georgia once again upheld the state's heartbeat law. The court ruled 6-1 to uphold the Living Infants Fairness and Equality Act last Thursday. The law bans the killing of unborn babies with detectable heartbeats with some exceptions. The latest ruling overturns a lower court ruling in a case brought by abortion activists. Heartbeat laws in other states have been upheld by their respective supreme courts, including Florida, Iowa, and South Carolina. Amazon outpaced Walmart Amazon, the e-commerce giant, outpaced the retail giant Walmart in quarterly revenue for the first time. Amazon brought in $187.8 billion in revenue during the fourth quarter of last year while Walmart brought in $180.5 billion. Walmart has been the top revenue-generating company each quarter for over a decade after outpacing Exxon Mobil in 2012. Walmart is still projected to lead in annual sales, but Amazon is close behind. Decline of Christian identification has slowed A new report from Pew Research found the decline of Christian identification in the U.S. has slowed. Sixty-two percent of U.S. adults identify as Christians currently, down from 78% in 2007. That percentage fell to 71% by 2014 and 63% by 2019. However, the share of self-identified Christian adults has hovered between 60% and 64% over the past five years. Non-Christian religious identification stands at 7.1%, up from 4.7% in 2007. And identification as religiously unaffiliated stands at 29%, up from 16% in 2007 but appears to be plateauing. New plant found in Big Bend National Park And finally, a new species of plant was discovered at a U.S. national park for the first time in 50 years. Park staff members first encountered the plant in Big Bend National Park in Texas last year. The National Park Service noted that the plant's “fuzzy foliage and interesting flower looked like nothing they had seen before.” Researchers analyzed the plant, concluding it is unique enough to be classified as a new species. The plant is officially called Ovicula biradiata and belongs to the same family as daisies. Researchers are also investigating potential medicinal applications of the plant, including anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties. Psalm 104:24 says, “O LORD, how manifold are Your works! (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Pakistani court sentenced Christian to death A court in Pakistan sentenced a Christian man to death on Saturday. Twenty-eight-year-old Ehsaan Shan Masih is accused of reposting content considered blasphemous against Islam by the government. The accusations followed a terrible mob attack against Christians in the country's eastern Punjab Province in 2023. Shan's lawyer will appeal the sentence. He said, “The Christian community in Pakistan is facing severe injustice, living in constant fear for their lives, property, and places of worship. This verdict symbolizes the virtual death of all Christians in Pakistan today.” According to the Open Doors' World Watch List of nations, Pakistan is ranked the seventh most difficult country worldwide in which to be a Christian. Revelation 12:11 says believers overcame Satan “by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” Church of England greenlights blessing homosexual couples The Church of England's General Synod began this week. The church is facing division over the issue of sexually perverted lifestyles. Last year, the Church of England allowed priests to bless homosexual couples. However, conservative leaders in the Church of England are pushing back. The group known as The Alliance represents over 2,000 clergy members. A letter from the group warned they are preparing to create a "parallel province” in the Church of England and to “seek pastoral oversight from bishops who remain faithful to orthodox teaching on marriage and sexuality.” Biden: “I can do this job!” Last Friday, in Raleigh, North Carolina, following his disastrous debate performance, President Joe Biden admitted that his age has limited his abilities. BIDEN: “I don't walk as easy as I used to. I don't speak as smoothly as I used to. I don't debate, debate as well as I used to. But I know what I do know. I know how to tell the truth. (cheers) I know right from wrong. (cheers) “I know how to do this job. (cheers) I know how to get things done. (cheers) I know, like millions of Americans know, when you get knocked down you get back up. (cheers) “I know what it took to take our economy from the depths of pandemic, where it is the day, the strongest economy in the world. Folks, I give you my word, as a Biden, I would not be running again if I didn't believe, with all my heart and soul, I can do this job!” First Democrat Congressman tells Biden to step aside However, Biden's defense was not sufficient for Democratic Congressman Lloyd Doggett of Austin, Texas. On Tuesday, Doggett became the first in the party to publicly call for President Joe Biden to step down as the party's nominee for president, citing Biden's poor debate performance against Donald Trump, reports The Associated Press. In a statement Tuesday, Congressman Doggett said, “My decision to make these strong reservations public is not done lightly nor does it in any way diminish my respect for all that President Biden has achieved. … I am hopeful that he will make the painful and difficult decision to withdraw. I respectfully call on him to do so.” Shortly afterwards, former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro joined Doggett in calling for Biden to withdraw. Castro ran against Biden in the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries. Trump advisor Rudy Giuliani disbarred On Tuesday, Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor, federal prosecutor and legal adviser to Donald Trump, was disbarred in New York after a court found he repeatedly made false statements about Trump's 2020 election loss, reports The Associated Press. The Manhattan appeals court ruled Giuliani, who had his New York law license suspended in 2021 for making false statements around the election, is no longer allowed to practice law at all in the state, effective immediately. Texas Court upholds ban on transgender drugs/surgeries for minors Last Friday, the Texas Supreme Court upheld a law that bans transgender drugs and surgeries for minors. The court ruled 8-1 in favor of the law. Texas is the largest of about 25 states that banned such mutilating practices on children. The court emphasized the role of parents in their children's care. The ruling stated, “We have said—and we reaffirm today—that fit parents have a fundamental interest in directing the care, custody, and control of their children free from government interference.” Iowa court upholds Heartbeat law Also last Friday, the Iowa Supreme Court ruled that the state's Heartbeat Law should go into effect. The law bans physicians from killing unborn babies. If a heartbeat is detected, the baby is protected with some exceptions. The ruling stated, “We have previously held that abortion is not a fundamental right under the Iowa Constitution. … We conclude that the fetal heartbeat statute is rationally related to the state's legitimate interest in protecting unborn life.” American patriotism declining July 4th might be tomorrow, but American patriotism is down, according to a new Gallup poll. Only 41% of U.S. adults say they are extremely proud to be American, down from 70% in the early 2000s. An additional 26% say they are very proud to be American. A combined 67% are extremely or very proud, down from 90% in the early 2000s. Being extremely proud to be an American is down among Republicans, Democrats, and Independents. But Republicans were the most likely to be extremely patriotic. Generations Radio guest empowers sex abuse victims to speak up Today, as Kevin Swanson is traveling overseas, I guest host for him on Generations Radio. I interviewed Elizabeth Good, the author of Speak the Unspeakable: Real Talk on Secrets, Sex and Being Set Free. Through TheFoundationUnited.org, she empowers people to stop concealing their trauma. GOOD: “If abuse starts at three, four, or five years old, and we keep it secret until [age] 53, things are happening that a child, their intuition, they know it doesn't feel right. They feel yucky. And the textbook ploys of somebody that is abusing them, and the predator tactics of this type of behavior, is so textbook. And so to arm the children, so they have the empowerment and the ability to speak to the things that are entering at five years old, six years old, seven years old. “We have so many children in seventh grade that are going through our different materials that we have for the church or for schools or for homeschool. And as they're going through it in seventh grade, we've had so many girls especially say, ‘Why wasn't I given this in fourth grade? If this would have been given me in fourth grade, I would have known exactly what to do. When this happened to be online. I would have known exactly what to say because this is exactly the situation.'” Take a listen to my 30-minute interview with Elizabeth Good at Generations.org/radio. That's Generations.org/radio. Christian athlete gives glory to God A Christian track athlete broke a world record in the lead-up to the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. Sydney McLaughlin Levrone was competing in the U.S. Olympic team trials. She finished the women's 400-meter hurdles in 50.65 seconds. That beat the previous world record which she herself had set. Listen to her interaction with a sports reporter. NBC REPORTER: “Sydney, when you looked up and you saw the clock, we saw the look on your face. But just tell us what went through your mind, another world record.” LEVRONE: “Honestly, praise God. I was not expecting that, but He can do anything. Anything is possible in Christ. So, yeah, I'm just amazed, baffled, and in shock!” After breaking world records in the past, she has quoted Hebrews 4:16: “So let us come BOLDLY to the throne of our gracious God. To his credit, over the course of several hours and in 90-degree heat, Isaac successfully killed 1,000 Colorado potato beetles, earning $50 for his effort which he decided to donate, in its entirely, to The Worldview. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Swiss abandon Christ The population of Switzerland is moving away from Christianity, despite the country once being at the center of the Protestant Reformation, led by Ulrich Zwingli. Three quarters of the Swiss live in cities. Of those, nearly one in three say they do not belong to any religion. The mainline Protestant church makes up only 19% of the city population, down from 49% in 1970. Roman Catholicism makes up 31%, down from 45%. And Islam has remained stable at 6%. Texas teacher ordered not to pray International Christian Concern warns that persecution is cropping up in America and the West, not just in other parts of the world. Just one example is the case of Staci Barber. She is a Texas school teacher who has been silenced for her faith after praying with other teachers at a school flagpole. She has been ordered not to pray. Jeff King, President of International Christian Concern, told The Christian Post, “Basically, we are frogs in the kettle, and the bubbles keep coming up under us. ... People learn that you do not stick your head up, and you start being quiet because ‘the process' is the punishment. ... We desperately need revival, and that all starts with us personally looking to the Lord.” Zechariah 1:3 says, “Return to Me, says the LORD of hosts, and I will return to you.” 5 GOP states won't comply with Biden's transgender executive order Five Republican states are suing the Biden administration in a transgender case. The administration is trying to expand a federal civil rights law to include protection for students living sexually perverted lifestyles in public schools. Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott told the Texas Education Agency to ignore the new federal rule. He wrote to President Joe Biden, “This ham-handed effort to impose a leftist belief onto Title IX exceeds your authority as president.” Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis also pushed back, saying, “Florida rejects Joe Biden's attempt to rewrite Title IX. We will not comply, and we will fight back.” Florida's Heartbeat Law protects unborn babies at 6 weeks Meanwhile, a new Heartbeat Law goes into effect in the Sunshine State today. The law bans the killing of unborn babies with detectable heartbeats but with some exceptions. The law goes into effect after the Florida Supreme Court upheld it last month. The court also upheld a 15-week abortion ban. Once a destination in the southeast for abortion, Florida may see thousands of fewer abortions due to the Heartbeat Law. FCC fines AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon for privacy breach The Federal Communications Commission is fining big wireless companies for sharing customer data without consent. AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon face nearly $200 million in fines. Jessica Rosenworcel with the FCC said, “These carriers failed to protect the information entrusted to them. Here, we are talking about some of the most sensitive data in their possession: customers' real-time location information, revealing where they go and who they are.” People concerned with crime despite drop in crime U.S. adults are becoming more concerned about crime. However, Pew Research reports crime rates are falling. Based on data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, violent crime fell 46% between 1993 and 2022. Property crime fell by 59%. The Bureau of Justice Statistics records even steeper declines with violent and property crime falling 71% over the same period. Meanwhile, 77% of Americans think crime is up nationally compared to 47% in 2000. And 55% think crime is up in their area compared to 34% in 2000. 10 perspectives that conflict with Biblical worldview Dr. George Barna released another survey on worldview in America. He identified 10 of the most common perspectives widely embraced by adults that conflict with a Biblical worldview. These views were influenced by other worldviews like secular humanism, pantheism, animism, Mormonism, and Judaism. One of the top beliefs was that married couples can be bonded to each other for eternity. Other top beliefs were that people are born neither good nor bad and that morality is determined by our own reason and emotions. In Ephesians 4:14-15, the Apostle Paul encourages us to “no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into Him who is the head, into Christ.” Unique nova explosion in the skies set for August And finally, NASA reports yet another once-in-a-lifetime cosmic event will be visible this year. Sometime before September, scientists are expecting a nova explosion in a star system about 3,000 light years from Earth. The stellar explosion results from the interaction between a massive star, known as a red giant, and a white dwarf—a star about the size of Earth. This particular nova happens about every 80 years and will likely be visible to the unaided eye. Close And that's The World View in 5 Minutes on this Wednesday, May 1st in the year of our Lord 2024. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Nicaragua convicted 11 pastors on false charges of money laundering Alliance Defending Freedom reports that Nicaraguan government officials have convicted 11 pastors and ministry leaders on sham charges of money laundering. The Christians worked with the U.S.-based Mountain Gateway ministry. They now face 12 to 15 years in prison. This comes after the ministry held evangelistic events that drew hundreds of thousands of people in the Central American country. ADF attorney Kristina Hjelkrem said, “No one is safe from religious persecution in Nicaragua, and it is devastating to see the … conviction of these pastors … who were simply sharing their faith.” Nicaragua is ranked 30th on the Open Doors' World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian. Australian officials object to Christian schools' stand against sexual perversion The Australian Law Reform Commission released a report on faith-based schools last month. The report recommends that the Australian government should remove protections for faith-based schools from the Sex Discrimination Act. The act had allowed Christian schools to expel students or staff who identified with sexually perverted lifestyles. Religious organizations are calling on the country's Prime Minister to reject the recommendation. The Australian Christian Schools Alliance called the report a “direct attack on faith and freedom of belief in Australia.” Christian identification dropping in England and Wales Christian identification fell below 50% of the population in England and Wales for the first time on record in recent years. Even atheists aren't happy as Islamic influences are rising in the once dominantly Christian area. During an interview on Resurrection Sunday, Richard Dawkins, a prominent British atheist, lamented the cultural demise of Christianity in Europe. DAWKINS: “It's true that statistically the number of people who actually believe in Christianity is going down. And I'm happy with that. But I would not be happy if, for example, we lost all our cathedrals and our beautiful parish churches. So, I count myself a cultural Christian. I think it would matter if we certainly if we substituted any alternative religion, [like Islam]. That would be truly dreadful.” 2 Timothy 3:2, 5, 7 warns, “For men will be lovers of themselves … having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! … [They are] always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” Florida Supreme Court: 15-week abortion ban is constitutional In the United States, Florida's Supreme Court ruled that the state's 15-week abortion ban is constitutional. The Monday ruling also upheld the Heartbeat Law that banned most abortions after six weeks of pregnancy. Mat Staver with Liberty Counsel said, “Today, the Florida Supreme Court rejected the dreadful history of abortion that began with an activist bench in 1989. . . . the wrongly decided abortion opinions are no more. The Constitution wins. Life wins.” However, the court also allowed a pro-abortion ballot measure to move forward. If passed, the referendum would make abortion a “right” in the state's constitution. Walt Disney dropped lawsuit against Florida In other Florida news, the Walt Disney Company has dropped its lawsuit against the state over its Florida resort. Back in 2022, Disney opposed a Florida bill which sought to protect young children from sexually-related content in schools. In response, Republican Governor Ron DeSantis revoked Disney World's special district status and appointed a new oversight board for the resort. Disney pushed back but has now conceded. A DeSantis spokesman said, “No corporation should be its own government. Moving forward, we stand ready to work with Disney and the District to help promote economic growth, family-friendly tourism, and accountable government in Central Florida.” Traffic deaths down The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports traffic deaths fell for a second year in a row in 2023. U.S. traffic deaths dropped 3.6% last year. Still, almost 41,000 people died on the roads last year. The number of deaths in 2022 was just over 42,000. Traffic deaths are down even though driving is up. Americans drove 67.5 billion more miles last year compared to 2022. 152nd anniversary of Samuel Morse, inventor of Morse code And finally, this week is the anniversary of the death of Samuel Morse. The American inventor died on April 2, 1872. Before his important inventions, Morse was known as a painter, even gaining admittance to the British Royal Academy of Art. Later in life, he would make key contributions to the design and deployment of the telegraph system. He also co-developed the code that bears his name. Morse code would become the primary language for telegraphy and is still used to this day. Notably, Morse was a devout Christian who gave glory to God for his inventions. U.S. and Arab leaders raised pressure on Israel to ease its siege of Gaza and at least briefly halt its attacks in order to aid civilians. Nearly four weeks after Hamas' deadly rampage in Israel sparked the war, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken was heading to the region for talks Friday in Israel and Jordan following President Joe Biden's suggestion for a humanitarian “pause” in the fighting. The aim would be to let in aid for Palestinians and let out more foreign nationals and wounded. Around 800 people left over the past two days. Israel did not immediately respond to Biden's suggestion. But Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has previously ruled out a cease-fire, said Thursday: “We are advancing … Nothing will stop us.” He vowed to destroy Hamas rule in the Gaza Strip. UK's most-read paper shows Israeli child hostages held in Gaza on front page The Sun, the United Kingdom's most widely-read newspaper, published a cover story on Thursday depicting the names and faces of all 32 children being held hostage by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, reports the Jerusalem Post. The cover image features the faces of all 32 children arched around a black box, emblazoned on which is the text: "32 innocent children snatched by terrorists. This is why Israel must fight evil of Hamas. BRING THEM HOME." The article was also featured prominently on the U.K. news outlet's website, which included a compilation of video footage depicting, among other things, Hamas taking hostages on October 7, scenes of Hamas's underground tunnel networks, and protests calling for the hostages to be returned home. JK Rowling risks imprisonment over refusal to use gender identity pronouns World-renowned author J.K. Rowling said she'd rather go to prison for two years than repeat the lie that “trans women are women,” reports The Christian Post Rowling, a British fiction writer who gained international fame and notoriety for authoring the seven-book Harry Potter series, tweeted her reaction to a picture of a message projected on the exterior wall of a building that read: “Repeat After Us: Trans Women Are Women.” When Rowling shared the photograph on her social media platform, she wrote one word: “No.” Trump out of touch with pro-life Iowa caucus voters Former President Donald Trump's opposition to protecting preborn babies from abortion after six weeks is out of touch with the very people he will need to win in Iowa, according to a new poll. Trump called Florida's Heartbeat Bill a “terrible mistake” during a September 17 Meet the Press interview. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Trump's 2024 primary opponent, signed the legislation. Listen to the exchange between NBC's Kristen Welker and Trump. KRISTEN WELKER: “If a federal ban landed on your desk, if you were re-elected, would you sign it at 15 weeks? TRUMP: “Are you talking about a complete ban?” WELKER: “A ban at 15 weeks.” TRUMP: “Well, people, people are starting to think of 15 weeks. That seems to be a number that people are talking about right now.” WELKER: “Would you sign that?” TRUMP: “I would sit down with both sides and I'd negotiate something, and we'll end up with peace in that issue for the first time in 52 years. I'm not going to say I would or I wouldn't. I mean ‘DeSanctus' is willing to sign a five-week and six-week ban.” WELKER: “Would you support that? Do you think that goes too far?” TRUMP: “I think what he did is a terrible thing and a terrible mistake.” Iowa has a similar Heartbeat Law that is pending legal challenges. A new poll from The Des Moines Register and NBC News found that 52% of likely Republican caucus-goers disagree with Trump's assessment. The Iowa caucus is scheduled for January 15, 2024. Among Republicans who say Trump is their first choice, just 40% agree that a six-week ban is a mistake. Texas Rangers, only MLB team that doesn't hold ‘Homosexual Pride Night,' wins World Series And finally, on Wednesday night, the Texas Rangers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 5 to 0 in Game 5 of the World Series, becoming champions for the first time in franchise history. Listen to the winning moment. ANNOUNCER 1: “It's happened! The Texas Rangers win the World Series! So long to heartbreak. Hello World Series for the Texas Rangers. Champions in 2023. ANNOUNCER 2: “What a moment, and what a year for the Texas Rangers.” Providentially, the Texas Rangers was the only Major League Baseball Team that did not celebrate “Homosexual Pride Night”, reports LifeSiteNews.com. Not initially considered likely to be a 2023 World Series winning team, the Rangers are perhaps best known among conservatives as being the only Major League Baseball Team to simply refuse to host a “Homosexual Pride Night” game in celebration of sodomy and the radical homosexual/transgender agenda. Psalm 1:1-2 says, “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Friday, November 3rd in the year of our Lord 2023. Despite the Heartbeat Law taking effect, the abortion debate continues to rage in South Carolina. Plus, is there a multifaceted approach to censor both news and web search results? It's a loaded Tuesday edition of the Palmetto Family Matters Show
The SC Supreme Court rules the Heartbeat Law is constitutional. We break down the decision and read through the findings for the first time on air. Plus, USA Today has a cool, hip, new back to school list for parents. And is there a cultural uprising on the way in the United States?
It's Thursday, July 6th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Muslims trusting Christ in North Africa and Middle East The church continues to grow in one of the most dangerous areas to be a Christian. International Christian Concern reports that “In one of the world's most persecuted regions, the church is experiencing a remarkable surge of new believers. Despite the persecution and pressure from Islamic families and culture, an unprecedented number of Muslims across the Middle East and North Africa turn to Christianity.” Many of these Muslim-background believers are young people who became disillusioned with Islam and turned to atheism before finding Christ. Those who become Christian are often disowned by their families and can face imprisonment or death for leaving Islam. Please pray for the suffering yet growing church in the Middle East and North Africa. Psalm 22:27 says, “All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations shall worship before You.” Only 5% of Germans read Bible regularly Last week, the University of Leipzig released a study on Bible usage in Germany. The area was once at the heart of the Protestant Reformation in 16th century Europe. Just over 50% of the population owns a Bible now; however, less than five percent of Germans read Scripture daily or weekly. The proportion of Bible users has not changed much over the past 10 years. It is the frequency of use that has fallen. Dr. Alexander Deeg with the university said, “I was surprised by the relatively low use of the Bible among Catholics and Protestants.” Judge to U.S. government: Stop censoring First Amendment through Big Tech On Tuesday, a U.S. District Judge issued a preliminary injunction against the Biden administration to protect free speech. The injunction blocks the federal government from meeting with social media companies to suppress online content. Republican attorneys general in Missouri and Louisiana initiated the case last year. They accused the administration and social media companies of censoring free speech during the COVID-19 pandemic. The injunction noted, “During the . . . pandemic, a period perhaps best characterized by widespread doubt and uncertainty, the United States Government seems to have assumed a role similar to an Orwellian ‘Ministry of Truth.'” Georgian abortions dropped by 50% since Roe overturned Abortions in Georgia have dropped nearly in half since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade just over a year ago. During the first half of 2022, about 4,000 unborn babies were murdered in the womb each month in the state. That number dropped to about 2,000 during the second half of last year. Following the Supreme Court's decision, Georgia started enforcing its Heartbeat Law. The legislation bans abortions after six weeks of pregnancy with some exceptions. Jim Caviezel's Sound of Freedom film beat Indiana Jones and Dial of Destiny As The Worldview reported, Angel Studios released the film Sound of Freedom in theaters on Tuesday, July 4th, starring Jim Caviezel. The movie is based on a true story of one man's efforts to rescue children from human trafficking. Thanks to Angel Studios “Pay it Forward” technology, the film actually took the Number 1 spot at the box office on Tuesday, beating out Disney's Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Neal Harmon, CEO of Angel Studios, told The Christian Post, “Thanks to fans around the country, Sound Of Freedom earned the top spot as America's number one movie on Independence Day. We've received numerous messages telling us theaters are either packed or sold out. This movie has now taken on a life of its own to become something more than that, a grassroots movement.” My bride, Amy, and I saw Sound of Freedom last night and highly recommend it. To their credit, the producers of the movie depict the egregious nature of this activity through implication. Thank you for being salt and light by providing a news outlet committed to the entire truth, both domestically and globally. It is a shame the global church and real time persecution is altogether ignored in news outlets today. I am grateful for The Worldview and its devotion to news from a Biblical perspective!” And Jeremiah, originally from Borno State, Nigeria and who now lives in Jos, Nigeria, wrote, “I deeply appreciate your accuracy about persecutions in Nigeria and other countries. Elon Musk, the CDC, States ending abortion, and the groomers are coming for your children and more on today’s CrossPolitic Daily News Brief. This is Toby Sumpter. Today is Friday, April 15, 2022. Tesla CEO Elon Musk offers to buy Twitter for $43 billion From AP: In just ten days, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has gone from popular Twitter contributor to the company’s largest individual shareholder to a would-be owner of the social platform — a whirlwind of activity that could change the service dramatically given Musk’s self-identification as a free speech absolutist. Twitter revealed in a securities filing Thursday that the sometimes whimsical billionaire has offered to buy the company outright for more than $43 billion, saying the social media platform “needs to be transformed as a private company” in order to build trust with its users. “This is not a sort of way to make money,” Musk said during an onstage interview at the TED 2022 conference Thursday. “Having a public platform that is maximally trusted and broadly inclusive is extremely important to the future of civilization.” Like other platforms, Twitter over the past several years has established restrictions on tweets that threaten violence, incite hatred, bully others and spread misinformation. Such rules played a key role in Twitter’s decision to ban former President Donald Trump following the 2021 Capitol insurrection of Jan. 6. Musk detailed some specific potential changes Thursday — like favoring temporary rather than permanent bans — but has mostly described his aim in broad and abstract terms. Twitter shares were changing hands at $44.98 in afternoon trading, down about 2% and well below Musk’s offer of $54.20 per share. That’s generally a sign that some investors doubt the deal will go through. The stock is still down from its 52-week high of about $73. Musk called that price his best and final offer, although he provided no details on financing. The offer is non-binding and subject to financing and other conditions. “I believe free speech is a societal imperative for a functioning democracy,” Musk said in the filing. “I now realize the company will neither thrive nor serve this societal imperative in its current form. Twitter needs to be transformed as a private company.” Twitter said it will decide whether accepting the offer is in the best interests of shareholders. This year our national conference is in Knoxville, TN October 6th-8th. The theme of this year’s conference is Lies, Propaganda, Storytelling and the Serrated Edge. Satan is the father of lies, and the mother of those lies is a government who has rejected God. We have especially been lied to these last two years, and the COVIDpanic has been one of the central mechanisms that our government has used to lie to us and to grab more power. Because Christians have not been reading their bibles, we are susceptible to lies and weak in our ability to fight these lies. God has given us His word to fight Satan and his lies, and we need to recover all of God’s word, its serrated edge and all. Mark your calendars for October 6th-8th, as we fight, laugh and feast with fellowship, beer and Psalms, our amazing lineup of speakers, hanging with our awesome vendors, meeting new friends, and more. Early bird tickets will be available starting in the middle of March. So you remember the Gay San Francisco Men’s Choir singing “We’re coming for your children” https://twitter.com/campusevangel/status/1514460005688356869?s=20&t=3j3TG6_2K4DlW6yOo4_fJA In the aftermath of Disney claiming that they are now committed to have half or more of their characters and movies representing LGBT+ characters, and Florida daring to say they don’t want lower elementary kids getting sex education, the accusation of “Groomer” seems to have picked up some steam. Some of us have been pointing out this grooming behavior for a while, and some so-called conservatives like David French are still defending Drag Queen story house as the cost of living in a free speech world. But I just wanted to draw your attention to another so called conservative, Dave Rubin, who is openly celebrating his grooming plan. And The Blaze and Prager U are congratulating him: Dave Rubin https://youtu.be/4qRczAodeP0 0:00-0:32 I was very thankful for Allie Beth Stuckey’s response in general, except for this one spot at the very beginning where I think she misspoke: https://youtu.be/JoHUlxI-H7k 0:54-1:30 No, they will not be good fathers, Allie. As you noted later in your video, they are intentionally depriving these two children of mothers, and they are planning to raise these children, teaching them that sexuality can be literally anything they want. What Dave Rubin and his sodomite partner are doing is grooming their kids. So if we’re going to take aim at Disney (as we should), please do not forget to include Dave Rubin in the mix. He is also part of this grooming problem. He’s doing Drag Queen Story hour also, he’s just dressed up in the Drag of normal American, which in many ways is far more dangerous. But he is also coming for your children. And to the extent that DailyWire and other conservative outlets do not come out guns blazing against Rubin and his grooming, you can rest assured tha DailyWire and all their family friendly kids programing is just a few years behind Disney. CDC extends mask mandate and Thomas Massie’s response & lawsuit https://twitter.com/RepThomasMassie/status/1514422908738838531?s=20&t=Zgcm8mkwIFQQq1lkF-GLzQ No doubt you’ve heard that the CDC has extended the airline mask mandates until May 3. To which all Americans and all airlines should be saying, Ha ha ha ha. And no. When you obey tyrants you only affirm their delusion that they have authority over you. The CDC does not have authority over you, over planes, over trains, over automobiles. Everybody should just say no. Thomas Massie made this same point, and also announced that he and Rand Paul and a number of other legislators have joined a lawsuit against the CDC for these mask mandates. And last of all, the reason, everyone should stop complying is because they don’t actually work. Abortion ban in Oklahoma and Kentucky https://www.reuters.com/world/us/kentucky-lawmakers-block-abortion-access-with-new-law-effective-immediately-2022-04-13/ April 13 (Reuters) - Kentucky effectively suspended legal abortion access on Wednesday as the legislature enacted a sweeping anti-abortion law that took effect right away and forces providers to stop offering abortions until they can meet certain requirements. The impact of the law makes Kentucky the first U.S. state without legal abortion access since the 1973 Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade established the right to end a pregnancy before the fetus is viable, abortion providers say. Abortion rights advocacy groups have said they will challenge the bill in court. The law imposes requirements that the state's clinics say make it too logistically difficult and expensive to operate, including a provision requiring that fetal remains be cremated or interred. It calls for a combination birth-death or stillbirth certificate to be issued for each abortion, and it bans abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, a Democrat, vetoed the bill on Friday, but the Republican-majority House and Senate overrode his veto on Wednesday evening. In his veto letter, Beshear expressed concern that the bill did not include exceptions for abortions in cases of rape or incest and said it was "likely unconstitutional" because of the requirements it imposed on providers. "Rape and incest are violent crimes. Victims of these crimes should have options," Beshear wrote. Two provisions in the abortion legislation hinder the state's abortion clinics from operating, according to Planned Parenthood's Kentucky state director Tamarra Wieder. The first is a requirement that the state Board of Pharmacy certify providers who dispense abortion pills. Until abortion providers are certified, they are prevented from offering medication abortions. The second is a requirement that fetal remains be cremated or interred, which places logistical and cost burdens on the clinics that they cannot sustain. The bill also bans telehealth for medication abortions, requiring an in-person doctor visit for patients seeking to end their pregnancy by pill. https://www.cnn.com/2022/04/12/politics/oklahoma-abortion-ban-kevin-stitt/index.html Oklahoma Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt on Tuesday signed a bill into law that makes performing an abortion illegal in the state, with an exception only in the case of a medical emergency. "As governor, I represent all 4 million Oklahomans and they overwhelmingly support protecting life in the state of Oklahoma. We want Oklahoma to be the most pro-life state in the country. We want to outlaw abortion in the state of Oklahoma," the governor said. Senate Bill 612, which cleared the state Senate last year and the House earlier this month, makes performing an abortion or attempting to perform one a felony punishable by a maximum fine of $100,000 or a maximum of 10 years in state prison, or both. The law does not provide exceptions in cases of rape and incest. Under the measure, the woman would not be criminally charged or convicted for the death of her "unborn child." The legislation does not prohibit the use, sale, prescription or administration of contraceptives. The governor was joined at the signing by members of the Oklahoma legislature, faith leaders from across the state, as well as representatives from anti-abortion advocacy groups. "I know this bill will be challenged immediately by liberal activists from the coast, who always seem to want to come in and dictate, and mandate, and challenge our way of life here in the state of Oklahoma. The most important thing is to take a stand and protect the unborn and protect life in the state of Oklahoma," Stitt added. Oklahoma Republican state Rep. Jim Olsen, SB 612's principal House author, previously told CNN that he believes "rape and incest is a horrible crime" and though the baby is conceived in a "horrible situation" that it "still has a right to life." "The baby should not be liable for the sins of the father," he said. "It's still a life." White House press secretary Jen Psaki condemned the law, calling it "one of the most extreme state laws signed into law to date." In her statement Tuesday, Psaki also urged Congress to pass the Woman's Health Protection Act, which would codify Roe v. Wade, after the legislation failed to overcome Senate hurdles in February, with Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia joining Republicans to block its passage. Stitt's signature on the legislation made Oklahoma the latest Republican-led state to approve new restrictions on abortion access in recent weeks. Last month, Arizona Republican Gov. Doug Ducey signed into law a ban on most abortions in the state after 15 weeks, similar to a Mississippi law that's before the US Supreme Court, and South Dakota Republican Gov. Kristi Noem has signed legislation that further restricts access to medication abortions in the state. In Idaho, the state Supreme Court temporarily blocked legislation recently signed by Republican Gov. Brad Little that was modeled after Texas' law that bans abortions after about six weeks. Idaho had become the first state to follow the controversial Texas statute that allows private citizens to enforce the restrictions with lawsuits. Idaho AG makes deal with Idaho Supreme Court to grant stay on Idaho heartbeat law https://www.ag.idaho.gov/newsroom/wasden-issues-statement-in-response-to-false-claim-over-defense-of-heartbeat-law/ Attorney General Lawrence Wasden has issued a statement berating Idaho Family Policy Center's Blaine Conzatti and local media (including Action Idaho) for misrepresenting the stay on Idaho's Heartbeat Law. According to Idaho Supreme Court documents, the Attorney General and Planned Parenthood entered into an agreement to stay the law so that legal proceedings could be delayed. Wasden now claims that the Supreme Court said this in error. Therefore, according to Wasden, those of us who quote the Supreme Court's decision are misrepresenting Wasden's position. Wasden has every reason to worry about how he looks--he looks like he is wrecking Idaho's Heartbeat Law. What reason does the Idaho Supreme Court have for misrepresenting Wasden's position? Why is Wasden complaining about Idaho Family Policy Center instead of the Idaho Supreme Court? They, after all, have made what he must think is the grossest error here. Or did they err at all? Perhaps Wasden can make all of his documents public, instead of casting aspersions at those who just know how to read an Idaho Supreme Court decision. If he gains a retraction from the Idaho Supreme Court, Action Idaho will correct the original story. Little signed the Idaho Heartbeat Bill, which bans abortions after a preborn baby's heartbeat can be detected. But because of ongoing court cases, the legislature felt it was necessary to include a trigger mechanism so that the new Heartbeat law would not become enforceable until after a similar law in another state was upheld by a federal appellate court. Then something spectacular happened. Just a few months after the bill was signed by the governor, the United States Supreme Court allowed the Texas Heartbeat Law to go into effect. This was a tremendous victory. Although it did not "trigger" enforcement of the Heartbeat Law in Idaho because of technical reasons, it blazed a viable pathway to begin saving preborn babies right away in Idaho. Sen. Patti Anne Lodge (R-Huston) and Rep. Steve Harris (R-Meridian) have sponsored the new changes adding a private enforcement mechanism that would become effective thirty days following signature by the governor. On Friday, this new bill was presented to the Senate State Affairs Committee. And the committee voted to "print," or introduce, the bill (now SB 1309). If Texas is any indication, this simple addition to the Idaho Heartbeat Law will likely save more than 1,000 preborn babies every year. Lord willing, we could be just sixty days away from preventing most abortions in the state after six weeks of pregnancy.
