On today's show, we chat with Phil King!Phil is based in Amarillo, Texas, but his impact as a songwriter and worship leader is felt throughout the industry. His songs have been recorded by Matt Redman, Leeland and Micah Tyler, among others, and he released the duet "Psalm 23 (I Am Not Alone)" with Meredith Andrews in 2023. Another career highlight for Phil was his participation in Focus on the Family's 2019 pro-life event “Alive From New York.” He and Francesca Battistelli performed his song “Not Forgotten” before 20,000 people in Times Square. He has sung and played on records and live events for artists that include Michael W. Smith, Jekalyn Carr, Danny Gokey, Charity Gayle, Lauren Daigle, Meredith Andrews, Francesca Battistelli, Jamie Grace, Lindell Cooley, and others. His songwriting credits include Leeland, Matt Redman, Mack Brock, Micah Tyler, Christine D'Clario, Rita Springer, and more. But most of all, Phil's favorite thing is to be available to lead worship alongside the men and women of God who carry the Gospel to the furthermost regions of the earth. His song, Miscarriages, is out now.  Miscarriages” can help others who are grieving such a loss. Miscarriage is so common, and the pain is not acknowledged enough, both in the Church and society.

Voices In My Head (The Rick Lee James Podcast) Episode 576 - Phil King - Miscarriages PHIL KING OFFERS HOPE AMIDST LOSS WITH POIGNANT    ‘MISCARRIAGES' NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Unveiling one of his most emotive and powerful singles yet, acclaimed singer/songwriter and worship leader Phil King bows “Miscarriages” today. Written and produced by King with children's choir and string arrangements by Tyler Michael Smith, “Miscarriages” aims to bring comfort to grieving parents while serving as an important reminder that earthly loss is only temporal.    King, a father of twins, was moved to pen the poignant ballad upon witnessing multiple families in his own circle experience the heartbreak of miscarriage. “After grieving with some good friends who lost a child in the womb, we learned that another couple was pregnant with twins," he explains. "We were overjoyed to celebrate with them, but then my wife received a call with more devastating news—they had lost their ‘Baby B,' a reference to the second child conceived in a twin pregnancy. In our journey of becoming twin parents, ‘Baby B' would have been our son. Hearing this news and imagining the pain of losing our own son is what set me on course to compose ‘Miscarriages.'”   “After I wrote the song, I sent it to both couples with the intent of bringing comfort to them,” King shares. “Along with their reactions, and after playing it for a few others, I decided that with all the other millions of stories of miscarriages out there and so few songs on the subject, this one needed to be available for anyone to hear.”     He adds, “In Heaven, families are reunited every day. My hope is that ‘Miscarriages' reassures parents with the truth that their baby is not actually lost. Rather, their child is safe in Heaven with Jesus, waiting for them on the other side of eternity. I hope this knowledge will prevail in the hearts and minds of people who have struggled with the grief of miscarriage as they listen.”     A pro-life advocate, King performed his anthem “Not Forgotten” with GRAMMY-winning singer/songwriter Francesca Battistelli before 20,000 people at Focus on the Family's 2019 “Alive From New York” gathering. Featuring 4D ultrasound footage projected on screens in Times Square, the event underscored the undeniable scientific evidence that a baby in the womb is fully human, fully alive and fully worthy of protection.    “Miscarriages” is King's second single of the year, arriving on the heels of “Heal Our Land.” A fervent prayer for America which released prior to last month's Presidential Inauguration, the song is a plea for peace, spiritual transformation and personal revival in the wake of change, tension and new beginnings.    ABOUT PHIL KING  Singer/songwriter, recording artist and worship leader Phil King is passionate about composing and sharing music that points people to Jesus. The next 12 months are expected to deliver continuing change when it comes to the business of sports, sports media, and of course, sports betting. That was made clear on the first Gaming News Canada Show presented by GBG Plc. of 2025. Brian Cooper, the long-time Canadian sports sponsorship guru and current frequent board member – including chair of MKTG Canada, and Canada Basketball, and a member of the board of directors at NorthStar Gaming – and The Parleh co-founder/CEO Mark Silver were our guests for a lookahead edition of the podcast and covering a cornucopia of topics, including: - What's next for sports media in our home and native land from the reduction of journalists from newsrooms, to the continuing growth of podcasts, the increasing influence of “content creators” to the future of sports talk radio.- Twenty-five years ago, then-Toronto Star sports media beat writer Chris Zelkovich reported on interest by Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment to acquire CTV SportsNet. With Rogers, owners today of Sportsnet, now controlling majority ownership of MLSE (one of the leading sports and entertainment entities on the planet, and with long-time sports broadcast executives Keith Pelley and Phil King now helping steer the good ship MLS and E), what does that mean for the future of Canadian sports and sports media?- Speaking of MLSE, what's next for Larry Tanenbaum, who continues to be a large presence on the Canadian sports scene and is bringing a WNBA franchise to Toronto?- The partnership announcement on New Year's Eve between the MLB Milwaukee Brewers and FanDuel Sports Network and court proceedings between MLB Players Inc., and DraftKings and bet365 highlight the ongoing investment by sportsbook operators in sports media and content.- And, the still-evolving fragmentation of sports broadcast rights, including Netflix's hugely successful partnership with the NFL on Christmas Day. To cap off the podcast, host Steve McAllister asked Cooper and Silver for stories to watch in 2025 and received a couple of Spockian-eyebrow responses from the two veteran sports executives. At Livewire, we dedicate ourselves to finding the best fund managers in Australia - and in a testament to how underground Morry is, he hadn't even popped up on our radar. Last week, however, Morry found himself thrust into the spotlight and was inducted into the Australian Fund Manager Hall of Fame - joining a now 22-name strong list of the country's most recognisable fund managers such as Kerr Neilson, Chris Cuffe, Anton Tagliaferro, Catherine Allfrey, Phil King and many more. What's unique, is that all 21 other names on this list are fundamental investors. This is the first time that someone who employs a quantitative, or systematic approach to investing, as Morry describes it, has been added to the Hall of Fame. Selected Key Takeaways Be honest with your nurse about your symptoms, even if you think they are embarrassing. 32:19 “I'll be honest, I've had bladder issues before. If I'm talking to a patient and they say, ‘I'm having to get up two or three times a night, and it's embarrassing. Sometimes I don't make it to the toilet in time. I don't really want to speak to a nurse about it, and I don't want to go into the bladder and bowel clinic about it,' I say, ‘Well, why not? I've been [to the clinic].'” Work with your healthcare team to manage your condition for life. 37:25 “[MS is] not a condition that is going to end your life very quickly. This is a condition for life. We're now seeing that people with MS have a near-to-normal lifespan, [just like] any other person. So, it's about managing your condition, [and] it's about being honest with your nurse. If your nurse or neurologist asks you to keep a diary [of] how often these symptoms occur, it's really helpful to us because we want you to live the best life that you possibly can.” You can live a very good life with MS. 43:17 "MS is frightening when you're newly diagnosed, but it does settle down, and there is hope. There is a life to be lived with MS. You can live a very good life. I would say that I look at MS as a gift, which I never thought I'd say. It's shown me so many different things, different ways of living, [and] different friend groups. If I was told tomorrow, 'Phil, we've made a big mistake. You haven't got MS,' I wouldn't change my lifestyle at all." Want to learn more about living a full and happy life with multiple sclerosis? Sign up to our newsletter to hear our latest tips. It's Wednesday, April 26th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Ugandan Muslims stabbed Christian evangelist Ugandan Muslim extremists stabbed a Christian evangelist to death earlier this month. A local pastor told Morning Star News, “Herbert was very effective in evangelistic activities. ... His acts of supporting and helping preachers were seen in Muslim circles as misleading many Muslims who left Islam and joined Christianity, especially young men and women. ... As the Body of Christ, we have lost a devoted servant of Christ.” The killing is the latest of many attacks on Christians in Uganda.  Revelation 12:11 says, “And they overcame [Satan] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.” Bible-believing Anglicans urge disobedient Anglicans to repent Anglicans from around the world met last week in Kigali, Rwanda for the fourth Global Anglican Future Conference. The assembly issued a communiqué called “The Kigali Commitment.” The document affirms the authority of God's Word and calls to repentance those in the Anglican Communion who support sexually perverted lifestyles.  The Church of England has led the departure from Scripture in their support of homosexuality. Now, global Anglicans are rejecting the leadership status of the Anglican branch in England.  Anglicans at the conference represented about 85% of Anglicans worldwide. Biden: My re-election is about more freedom Yesterday, President Joe Biden officially announced he is running for reelection next year. Biden said his campaign is about fighting for more freedom.  BIDEN: “Personal freedom is fundamental to who we are as Americans. There's nothing more important, nothing more sacred. That's been the work of my first term, to fight for our democracy. This shouldn't be a red or blue issue. To protect our rights. To make sure that everyone in this country is treated equally. And that everyone is given a fair shot at making it.” Apparently, these freedoms include killing unborn babies and living sexually perverted lifestyles.  Galatians 5:13 warns, “For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” Two-thirds don't want Biden or Trump A new Reuters/Ipsos poll came out on Monday.  The poll found about two-thirds of voters don't want Joe Biden or Donald Trump to run again.  Along party lines, 44% of Democrats don't want Biden to run again, and 34% of Republicans don't want Trump to run again. Sixty-one percent of Democrats said Biden is too old to work in government, while only 35% of Republicans said the same of Trump.  Biden is expected to have little opposition for the Democrat presidential nomination. Trump is the leading candidate among Republicans at 50% followed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis at 24%.  A hypothetical contest between Biden and Trump in the survey found Biden winning 43% to 38%.  Texas bill requires public school classrooms display 10 Commandments The Texas Senate passed a bill last Thursday, requiring public school classrooms to display the Ten Commandments.  The bill passed the Senate 17-12 and heads to the state's House of Representatives.  Republican state Senator Phil King authored the bill. He said the bill “restores [religious] liberties that were lost, and reminds students all across Texas of the importance of a fundamental foundation of American and Texas law—the Ten Commandments.” The Texas Senate also passed a bill to allow public school students and employees to pray and read the Bible. North Dakota governor signed heartbeat bill Meanwhile, in North Dakota, the state's Republican governor, Doug Burgum, signed a heartbeat bill into law on Monday.  The law bans abortions after six weeks of pregnancy with some exceptions. Six weeks of pregnancy is when a baby's heartbeat can typically be detected easily.  North Dakota is now the 15th state to ban or restrict most abortions. North Dakota also banned transgender drugs/surgeries for kids To its credit, North Dakota is also the latest state to ban transgender drugs and surgeries on children.  Governor Burgum signed the bill into law last Wednesday.  Other states which have protected children include Arkansas, Indiana, Tennessee, South Dakota, Iowa, Mississippi, and Florida.  Only 12% of Americans are happy And finally, a recent poll from the Nonpartisan and Objective Research Organization at the University of Chicago found that only 12% of Americans say they are “very happy.” It's the lowest score for happiness since they starting tracking it in 1972. People who said they are very happy were also very likely to say they valued strong relationships, marriage, and the belief in God. Psalm 146:5 says, “Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Wednesday, April 26th in the year of our Lord 2023. Subscribe by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. 04: Marketing insights: Podcasts - Phil King, podcast editor, tells us how (and why) to start a podcast as part of your communications strategy. In this episode, I interview my podcast editor, Phil King. He helps to deliver quality podcasts for new and established podcasters all over the world - from audio editing and music mixing to podcast mastering. We discuss the benefits of a podcast compared to other social media channels, and how it is such a good format to boost your external communications and engagement with your existing customers - and to attract new ones.Starting a podcast is relatively simple, when you know how, and is an exciting and different way to create content. It's a great communications tool for any size of business and if it is monetised with sponsors, etc, can also create a revenue stream.Phil King is a voice actor and podcast editor, so tells us what equipment is needed for a podcast and has lots of tips on what to consider, such as format and frequency of a podcast.I listen to lots of podcasts on a range of subjects and in different formats - from the magazine style of Auto Express, to celebrities such as Alan Carr's 'Life's a Beach' podcast, and the current number one podcast, 'The Rest is Politics' with Alastair Campbell and Rory Stewart discussing their views and insights on the world of politics and media. Some podcasts have been such a hit that they've spawned life stage and TV shows. Some are small and target every niche imaginable. But there are barely any podcasts in the caravan and motorhome sector in the UK at the moment, so there is a great opportunity for businesses to listen to this podcast, learn a lot, and, hopefully, be inspired to start podcasting.Topics discussedWhy start a podcast?Equipment needed to start a podcastPodcast formatPodcasts v. A little bit about Phil's amazing business… Phil is primarily a voice actor but over the last 12 months, Phil has had to extend his business due to the current situation so has been helping creatives with their podcasts and actually edits this podcast too! What one marketing thing made a difference to their business?  Found a course by Jonathan Tilley who helps creatives get online – the course was to build your email list. He then spend time researching people who may need a voice actor and personally reached out to them to introduce himself and get to know them better. The important thing about the emails Phil sent is that they were all personalised with the research he had done. Phil also created a side hustle – The Podcast Assistant which was for a separate target market to what he was previously doing. Phil then decided to do my Build Your List course and created tailored lead magnets to get his new list started. What difference did it make to them and their business?  It was a hard slog and a long time on the internet every day but it worked – it gave Phil the client base he has today who often return for repeat business. Drawing the Maps at The Texas Tribune's symposium previewing the 2021 legislative sessionThe redistricting process — redrawing congressional and state legislative districts — could take longer than usual this year, two state lawmakers said. Redistricting takes place every 10 years following the census.“There's a lot of unknowns,” said state Sen. Joan Huffman, R-Houston, who chairs the Senate Select Committee on Redistricting. “We'll start the session with those unknowns still there.”Huffman was joined by state Rep. Phil King, R-Austin, in a conversation moderated by Ross Ramsey, executive editor of The Texas Tribune. Legal challenges and changing deadlines, compounded by the coronavirus pandemic, frustrated census efforts and could push redistricting into a special session, the lawmakers said.If the U.S. Census Bureau doesn't hand over data to lawmakers by mid-April, Huffman said “it will be impossible to get” maps redrawn without a special session.A number of statewide public hearings scheduled for earlier this year were canceled because of the pandemic. King said he was working with the House parliamentarian to draft rules to allow virtual meetings where the public can weigh in on how new maps are drawn. Huffman said she plans to introduce a similar proposal.

Regal Small Companies fund has returned 18.4% p.a. (as at April 2020) since inception (Feb 2015). As part of the COVID-19 Special Episodes, David chats with Phil King of Regal Funds Management. Late last year when David last spoke with Phil, Phil believed that it was a great time to invest. However, throughout this episode, Phil argues that it's important investors change their portfolios as the facts change. Investors should constantly ask themselves, "Is my thesis still valid?", and as we have seen, Covid-19 has largely disrupted everyone's thesis. Despite the recent bounce in markets, Phil thinks that it will be a while before we see the true bull market return, however, he highlights the opportunities presenting themselves in the small to mid-cap space of Australian equities compared to the traditional high yielding value traps that many Australians have typically favoured.  Since inception (Feb 2015) the Regal Small Companies fund has returned 18.4% p.a. This might be our fav ep so far. We welcome OITNB actress Ashley Jordyn to talk about #StartByBelieving day April 3 and how we can support survivors. For example, a local pediatrician could refuse to care for the child of a same-sex couple and the state licensing agency wouldn't be able to address the pediatrician's unprofessional behavior, or a pharmacist could refuse - without professional consequence - to dispense anti-retroviral drugs because of their religious views on HIV and AIDS. After the hearing the committee voted to advance SB 17 in a 7-1 vote. All the Republicans on the committee and state senator Eddie Lucio Jr. (D) voted in favor of the bill, and state senator Judith Zaffirini (D) voted against it. The bill is now on the way to the Senate floor, and we still have time to contact your State Senator and urge them to reject this harmful piece of legislation. Send a message to your State Senator and ask them to reject SB 17! A growing number of Texas municipalities are passing so-called "nanny state" restrictions and regulations that may interfere with Texans’ personal liberties, property rights, and livelihood. Advocates of these types of regulations defend them by citing a theory of “local control,” which posits that government works best when it is closest to the people. Our republic is founded upon the notion that all powers not granted to the federal government are reserved to the states or to the people. Some say the notion of local control being anything other than a specific grant of authority from the state government is a misunderstanding of federalism. This could lead to "grassroots tyranny" in which individual liberties of Texans are encroached by local government. Should the Legislature enforce strict limits on municipalities or should it defer to the will of a geographical majority? How can the Legislature reassert its primacy as the state’s lawgiver and defender of individual liberty if existing statutes are overlooked by the courts? In short, this panel will discuss a theory of local control and determine whether the Texas Legislature has abdicated too much lawmaking authority to political subdivisions throughout the state. -- This panel took place on September 17, 2016, during the Second Annual Texas Chapters Conference in Austin, Texas. The theme for the conference was "The Separation of Powers in the Administrative State". -- Featuring: Hon. Phil King, Texas House of Representatives, District 61; Dean Andrew P. Morriss, Dean and Anthony G. Buzbee Dean’s Endowed Chair, Texas A&M University School of Law; and Hon. Don Zimmerman, Council Member, District 6, Austin. Moderator: Hon.
