Eric and Dave are joined by Jesse Chaney, a Sonar Technician Chief, who served aboard the USS Toledo and the USS Houston. The Toledo was a hot runner, with a Captain full of vim and vigor, and who is now the subject of a famous internet submarine meme that you have definitely seen, but might not know the full story behind... Jesse's story is -like so many - a combination of ups and downs, but in the end it is a story about overcoming the demons which afflict so many. It is a story that proves that there is help and there is hope for tomorrow...
Eric and Dave are back to talk about the recent (repeated) threat by Russia to engage in the use of "tactical" nuclear weapons. With the destruction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, are we closer than ever to nuclear combat toe-to-toe with the Ruskies?

Some years ago, on an episode of the "Somewhere in Time" Show with Art Bell, the episode featured guest who claimed that he was a former "submarine communications officer. " He had a fantastical tale that helped to explain why he left the submarine service. The story involves nuclear weapons, loss of communications and a crew on the edge of a total breakdown. Of course, there are some problems with his story, starting with it's the plot to Crimson Tide. Plus he was telling this tale on a well known "entertainment" show. The Sub Vets just aren't having any of it. At. All. The Art Bell Show Officer X Episode The NUKE MAP Simulator

Eric Ryle and Dave Bowman a take a look at the Slashfilms list of what it thinks are the "Best 15 submarine films ever." They are, of course, completely wrong, although some of these films are pretty good. A couple of them should never have been on the list in the first place, and more importantly they left at least two of the GREATEST completely off their list. It's almost like SlashFilms isn't qualified submarines and certainly isn't an expert in all things submarine, like the Sub Vets! USS Delaware is being commissioned this weekend, Dave is still playing Cold Waters, and the Sub Vets opine in an highly UNCLASSIFIED manner about how the Russians might be hiding their boomers. That and more on this episode of The Sub Vets!
Eric and Dave are back to talk about the war, Halfway nights, the USS Scorpion, and the news of the Submarine World
Eric Ryle of The Sub Vet and Dave Bowman get together to question whether or not the Soviets, er, Russians actually managed to "detect" a US Virginia class Submarine" or if the whole thing isn't just some TASS propaganda like something from the 1980s? It's time to TURN TO, COMMENCE FIELD DAY!
Eric Ryle of The Sub Vet and Dave Bowman are joined by former Navy Submarine Officer Lt. Jon S Rennie to talk about his experience aboard USS Tennessee and then later as a businessman. That experience would lead to Mr. Renne's books on leadership and how the lessons of becoming a qualified Officer of the Deck apply to success in the civilian world... Get Jon's books -->HERE
Eric Ryle of The Sub Vet and Dave Bowman are here to talk things submarine - and in this case, a passionate love of our country. There's a few things that need to be addressed regarding last weeks show about Project Azorian. There are always stories in the Submarine Service about some strange things. Eric and Dave give you a little view of their own worlds and careers, and Eric is raging mad about the way the country is going. All this week on The Sub Vet Podcast!
The countdown to a potential world wide conflagration is still continuing. Meanwhile, Eric Ryle of The Sub Vet and Dave Bowman talk about submarine news and history. A texter to the show wanted to know more about the mysterious story from 1968 of the disappearance of a Soviet Golf II class SSB in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Like most things in the world of submarines, there is much more to the story than meets the eye...
Eric Ryle of The Sub Vet.com and Dave Bowman get together to talk submarine and just some the numerous dangers faced by the men and women who man the boats. It was in 2005 that USS San Francisco ran into an underwater seamount, causing massive damage and a great deal of heroic work to save the ship (you can read one of the best descriptions HERE). One crew member, MMS(SS) J Ashley perished in the accident, and at least 80% of the crew was injured to some degree. The post accident discussions took place at a time when the internet was still relatively new and free. One of the lead Submarine Blogs of the day, The Stupid Shall Be Punished, more or less led the way with what information was available and much commentary. Most submariners were shaken by the incident, and the blog and discussions gave us all a place to vent. The post Cold War world is heating up again. There are so many danger spots rights now that it's important to understand that very soon, the sailors of the US Submarine service could be once again sailing into danger.
The Sub Vet Podcast returns, featuring your submarine experts, Eric and Dave who share with you news from the world of submarines. The USS Connecticut made it all the way home this week, including a stop over at a little known facility in the northern part of the Puget Sound. The boys have their own tales of Patrols made over the holidays and Senior Chief Duke chimes in with his story from USS Albuquerque. It's a Christmas episode of The Sub Vets!
There was very big news in the submarine world today as USS Connecticut departed San Diego for the final leg of a 7000 nautical mile surface transit. The Sub Vets, Eric and Dave (your submarine experts!) recall their own adventures on surfaced submarines, including the more disgusting bits (Hint: NEVER Trust a guy in the crews lounge or Dave when he tells you that the AMR1 bilge will "help" with your seasickness)! The West Taiwanese have a new theory about what Connecticut hit, but like most insane conspiracy theories it doesn't really... well... hold water. And the whole scenario is just a reminder of why we have the greatest Navy in the entire world. And we BEAT ARMY!
Dave was on WMMB-AM in Melbourne, FL with Bill Mick (Bill Mick Live) to talk about the USS Connecticut's arrival in San Diego...
The Sub Vets, your submarine experts are back. Eighty years ago this week the Imperial Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, killing 2400 Americans and sinking numerous ships. Among the vessels in the harbor that day were four US Navy Submarines. In retrospect, the attackers should have paid more attention to the submarines... In Sub Vets News, the Royal Navy seems to have a drug problem among her boat sailors. The two spies might have been motivated by their personal animosity towards... Donald Trump? Would you dive 600 feet below on board a "diving living room submarine?" Eric says "NOPE" while Dave has been planning this since the 5th grade.
You freeloading oxygen breathers are welcome to join The Sub Vets, The Submarine Experts, Eric and Dave as they set sail into the world of every and all things submarines! We start things off with a discussion of some Patrol Hackers, a bunch of questionable "submarine terms," which drifts into a sea story or two. We learn of Eric's tragic Submarine youth, as he was both DINQ and had an "abusive Sea Dad." Dave does not have a NAM, nor does he have a ballcap that says "NAM" on it. Eric does have one (the medal, not that hat) because it turns out that he is a hero! The LA's are being decommed by the Navy and it's a painful thing to watch... although there could be a possible way that some of the LA's might stay in service. Get your show Hacker Card for your chance to win questionable and iffy "prizes!"
