I got my first period in grade 7 shortly after my father passed away, I was embarrassed to tell anyone because our house was full of visitors coming to the funeral. I had to make pads with toilet paper and some paper. Many female students would rather miss class than go to school while menstruating if they lack access to feminine hygiene products, according to the State of the Period study sponsored by Thinx and Period. Poverty plays a large role in access to obtaining these products, but there is also cultural stigma around menstruation that causes embarrassment and feelings of shame for some girls. The study conducted by Harris Insights & Analytics of 1,000 teens ages 13 to 19 found 20% — one in five — of teenage girls surveyed can't afford to purchase menstrual hygiene products. It also states that two-thirds of respondents feel stress because they don't have access to tampons and pads, 61% have worn tampons more than four hours, 25% missed class because they didn't have access to tampons or pads, and 83% think lack of access "is not talked about enough." @kotex_sa has partnered with @shopritesa to give a packet of pads, all you need to do is visit their site and redeem the voucher. Help me collect Pads this June. You can collect and give to a girl of choice or you DM me @sm_andco and Sike Nofemela and I will collect. Thank you in advance

In this episode I discuss the importance of lifting as you rise, but making sure you are lifted FIRST. The world encourages us to grind and if that is taken out of context we will definitely burn out. That's why selfcare is so important. Besides all the people you are lifting would really be happy if you took care of yourself too. Amanda Dambuza puts it this way.... for me to invite other women in the boardroom, I need to be seated in one first. Enjoy and for more women empowerment content. Check out @sm_andco
Stats show that men are likely to commit suicide than women, and we can confirm from GBV and just the anger in our men, that they are truly hurt and angry. Could the reason be depression and men not processing their feelings in a healthy manner? In his book "How I survived the sting of depression" Moses invites us to experience his journey of depression. He was head on with this dream killer, in this episode encourages men and women to speak out. He also shares what contributed to him being depressed. Listen in. Here is a link for the book https://amzn.to/3nWDYPr

In this episode I share my humble beginnings being raised by my granny in early life and later moving back and forth between homes as my single mom tried to give us the best in life. Two women stand out in my life my gran and my mom and I share how they contributed to who you see today! Many children in South Africa do not live consistently in the same household as their biological parents.Parental absence is related to many factors, including historic population control, labour migration, poverty, housing and educational opportunities, low marriage and cohabitation rates, as well as customary care arrangements. It is common for relatives to play a substantial role in child-rearing. Many children experience a sequence of different caregivers, are raised without fathers, or live in different households to their biological siblings.
