In this Huberman Lab Essentials episode, my guest is Dr. Justin Sonnenburg, PhD, a professor of microbiology and immunology at Stanford University. We discuss how microbes in our gut impact our mental and physical health and how diet and the environment affect the gut microbiome. We explain how lifestyle factors such as antibiotics and Western-style diets (high fat, low fiber and rich in processed foods) can damage gut diversity and whether prebiotics or probiotics are useful tools. Throughout the episode, we highlight evidence-based dietary and lifestyle strategies for improving gut health. If you're curious as to whether you have any stored emotions or trauma that might be causing your illness, preventing you from achieving your goals, or even just showing up as the best, authentic version of yourself, I invite you to take my free Stored Emotions and Trauma QuizWhat if functional medicine is just another kind of greenwashed medicine, still missing the real root cause?Supplements and stricter health routines don't always bring us closer to true healing. After decades in microbiology and functional medicine, I've watched the field drift toward complexity and noise, often replacing pills with powders, not purpose. A recent conversation with a longtime friend confirmed what I'd been intuitively feeling for years: even our so-called “holistic” approaches can keep us sick.More testing, stricter diets, and endless “shoulds” can disconnect us from our own intuition. The good news is, there is something that drives lasting change. Because sometimes the best “treatment” isn't another supplement at all. Your body already knows what it needs, you just have to listen. You'll Learn:[00:00] Introduction[03:47] Why functional and integrative medicine can unintentionally harm more than help[06:12] What happens when health advice turns into noise and “shoulds” that disconnect you from your body[09:34] How one practitioner's trip to Europe shattered my ideas of what “healthy” really means[12:56] The surprising reason some “unhealthy” people still thrive while the wellness-obsessed don't[15:43] Why no single diet or protocol can work for everyone, and what to do instead[18:27] How genetic and biochemical individuality change what balance looks like for you[19:55] The real foundation of healing hidden beneath supplements and lab results[21:42] When functional medicine truly shines, and when it crosses into overcomplication[22:58] Why honoring your own intuition is the most powerful medicine you haveFind More From Dr. Stephanie Davis:Dr. Stephanie Davis | WebsiteQuantum Rx | InstagramQuantum Rx | Skool
Apple TV+ is on fire, and Pluribus might be its most thought-provoking series yet. Miranda dissects the hive-mind themes, the racial commentary, the illusion of independence, and the show's commentary on AI and collective labour. Tamzyn falls down the “would I join the collective?” rabbit hole — torn between terror and the warm fuzzy vibes. Clayton breaks down why Carol is the perfect unlikeable protagonist and why consent sits at the heart of the entire story. High-concept, unsettling, and addictive. Our culture tells us that independence is everything — but what if true flourishing happens when we give some of it up?Joel and Tim explore how commitment to a local church is not just a spiritual act, but something deeply human. They unpack how technology, hyper-individualism, and cultural values can isolate us, while the church pulls us back into the kind of community God designed for our good. From the sociology of connection to the theology of commitment, this conversation challenges us to see that infringing on our individuality might actually be the healthiest thing for us — because we are made to be together.Timestamps 00:00 – Intro: Isolation vs. community 22:47 – Commitment vs. loneliness 35:40 – How community shapes identity 41:12 – Inviting others into connected community 59:09 – Tim's takeaway: Spend more time at churchDiscussed on this episodeFriedrich NietzscheCasey NeistatWhy We Need the Church Now More Than Ever, by Carmen Joy ImesNijay Gupta SubstackDominion, by Tom HollandGlow Kids: How Screen Addiction Is Hijacking Our Kids-and How to Break the Trance by Nicholas KardarasJonathan HaidtAfter BabelBronfenbrenner's Ecological Systems Theory

Welcome to unPACKed, an open-minded podcast taking a clinical, *not political*, approach to help pet parents around the world. Join Sailor Jerri and Mattison, certified trainers and canine behavior experts with a combined 3 decades of experience in behavioral dog training. In this episode, Brittany joins us to unpack what it really means to “get to know your dog as an individual.” Her two littermates, Dax and King, couldn't be more different: one sensitive and reactive, the other fairly confident. Together, we explore how stories, expectations, and even our own nervous systems shape the way we see our dogs. From “terminal uniqueness” to resilience and capacity, this conversation dives deep into the messy, nuanced process of truly meeting your dog where they are without overcomplicating what they need. A grounded, eye-opening discussion for anyone learning to see beyond the behavior and understand the dog in front of them. In this episode of Crazy Wisdom, host Stewart Alsop speaks with Eli Lopian, author of AICracy and founder of aicracy.ai, about how artificial intelligence could transform the way societies govern themselves. They explore the limitations of modern democracy, the idea of AI-guided lawmaking based on fairness and abundance, and how technology might bring us closer to a more participatory, transparent form of governance. The conversation touches on prediction markets, social media's influence on truth, the future of work in an abundance economy, and why human creativity, imperfection, and connection will remain central in an AI-driven world.Check out this GPT we trained on the conversationTimestamps00:00 Eli Lopian introduces his book AICracy and shares why democracy needs a new paradigm for governance in the age of AI. 05:00 They explore AI-driven decision-making, fairness in lawmaking, and the abundance measure as a new way to evaluate social well-being. 10:00 Discussion turns to accountability, trust, and Eli's idea of three AIs—government, opposition, and NGO—balancing each other to prevent corruption. 15:00 Stewart connects these ideas to non-linearity and organic governance, while Eli describes systems evolving like cities rather than rigid institutions. 20:00 They discuss decade goals, city-state models, and the role of social media in shaping public perception and truth. 25:00 The focus shifts to truth detection, prediction markets, and feedback systems ensuring “did it actually happen?” accountability. 30:00 They talk about abundance economies, AI mentorship, and redefining human purpose beyond traditional work. 35:00 Eli emphasizes creativity, connection, and human error as valuable, contrasting social media's dopamine loops with genuine human experience. 40:00 The episode closes with reflections on social currency, self-healing governance, and optimism about AI as a mirror of humanity.Key InsightsDemocracy is evolving beyond its limits. Eli Lopian argues that traditional democracy—one person, one vote—no longer fits an age where individuals have vastly different technological capacities. With AI empowering some to act with exponential influence, he suggests governance should evolve toward systems that are more adaptive, participatory, and continuous rather than episodic.AI-guided lawmaking could ensure fairness. Lopian's concept of AICracy imagines an AI system that drafts laws based on measurable outcomes like equity and happiness. Using what he calls the abundance measure, this system would assess how proposed laws affect societal well-being—balancing freedoms, security, and fairness across all citizens.Trust and accountability must be engineered. To prevent corruption or bias in AI governance, Lopian envisions three independent AIs—a coalition, an opposition, and an NGO—cross-verifying results and exposing inconsistencies. This triad ensures transparency and keeps human oversight meaningful.Governance should be organic, not mechanical. Drawing inspiration from cities, Lopian and Alsop compare governance to an ecosystem that adapts and self-corrects. Like urban growth, effective systems arise from real-world feedback, where successful ideas take root and failing ones fade away naturally.Truth requires new forms of verification. The pair discuss how lies spread faster than truth online and propose an algorithmic “speed of a lie” metric to flag misinformation. They connect this to prediction markets and feedback loops as potential ways to keep governance accountable to real-world outcomes. The abundance economy redefines purpose. As AI reduces the need for traditional jobs, Lopian imagines a society centered on creativity, mentorship, and personal fulfillment. Governments could guarantee access to mentors—human or AI—to help people discover their passions and contribute meaningfully without economic pressure.Human connection is the new currency. In contrast to social media's exploitation of human weakness, the future Lopian envisions values imperfection, authenticity, and shared experience. As AI automates production, what remains deeply human—emotion, error, and presence—becomes the most precious and sustaining form of wealth.

Iain Thomas is a poet, author, and the Chief Innovation Officer at Sounds Fun—an advertising and creative agency that he co-founded with the belief that human creativity could be enhanced, rather than diminished, with the help of AI. It's a realization that actually began to dawn on Iain a few years prior, after his mother died. He wasn't sure how to explain death to his children, so he turned to an early version of ChatGPT for help—and was so impressed by the poetry of its responses that he came away convinced of AI's immense potential as a thought partner for his creative work. On this episode, Iain talks about using AI to make more space for the creative parts of your work, and why, in a world where everyone has access to the same tools, it's never been more important to lean into the skills, context, and experiences that make each of us most unique—and most human.Learn more about Sounds Fun soundsfun.co~ ~ ~Working Smarter is brought to you by Dropbox Dash—the AI universal search and knowledge management tool from Dropbox. In this third edition of the Truth Warrior Roundtable, we sit down with David Whitehead and Matt Presti to tackle one of the most turbulent moments in recent memory — the assassination of Charlie Kirk and the shockwaves it sent through the “truth” community. We break down the reactions on both the left and the right, the flood of conspiracy claims surrounding the event, and how Israel once again became a central point of debate in the aftermath. This conversation goes beyond headlines to address the deeper war on consciousness itself — why people struggle to hold uncertainty, the consequences of irresponsible speech, the role of faith and resilience in times of tragedy, and how to stay grounded in evidence and individualism rather than clickbait and emotional manipulation.Time Stamps(00:00) Episode Teaser(00:36) Opening Conversation(03:25) Guest Introductions(09:12) Discussion on Current Events and Truth Seeking(11:14) Reactions to Charlie Kirk's Assassination(17:19) Conspiracy Theories and Media Influence(42:00) Candace Owens(47:35) The Importance of Reason and Truth-Seeking(50:02) The Role of Influencers and Propaganda(52:52) The Complexity of Middle Eastern Politics(56:21) The Roots of Antisemitism and Historical Context(01:02:36) Judaism, Christianity, and Islam: Philosophical Differences(01:11:42) The Talmud Misconceptions(01:15:27) The Dangers of Collective Blame(01:30:50) The Pursuit of Truth vs. Being Right(01:32:07) The State of America and Government Actions(01:34:58) The Influence of Communism and Historical Parallels(01:36:40) Metaphysics vs. Physical Solutions(01:39:07) The Role of Religion in Society(01:42:39) Concerns About Christian Revival and Theocracy(01:51:12) The Power of the Individual vs. The Collective(01:56:47) Closing Thoughts on Individuality and FreedomGuest Linkshttps://www.dwtruthwarrior.com/ https://dwtruthwarrior.substack.com/ https://mattpresti.substack.com/ https://www.mattpresti.com/ Connect with UsJoin our membership Friends of the TruthSubscribe to Here for the Truth FridaysWatch Joel's Presentation: “Myths to Awaken the Soul”Take the Real AF Test NowDiscover Your Truth Seeker ArchetypeWatch all our episodesConnect with us on TelegramAccess all our links

What if the world became a better place by becoming better, more authentic versions of ourselves?Despite what the headlines and social media might suggest, we're not as divided as we think. Most people want the same core things: to be a good person, to live with integrity and authenticity, and to make a positive impact. But we're caught in a collective illusion - where the loudest voices dominate 80% of the headlines, social media, and public conversation. If there's one episode to share with someone who's feeling discouraged about the state of the world, it's this one.In this powerful conversation, Mel sits down with Dr. Todd Rose, co-founder and CEO of the think tank Populace, which is on a mission to use data to ensure that all people have the opportunity to pursue fulfilling lives. He was also a professor at Harvard University's Graduate School of Education, where he earned his PhD and founded the Laboratory for the Science of Individuality.Dr. Rose has analyzed the largest dataset ever collected on what people actually want in life based not on what they share publicly, but what they admit privately, when they're telling the truth. The data is clear: we are more alike than we are different. And the small, authentic choices we make every day can have a ripple effect that changes culture at scale. He also shares a remarkable moment in history that proves real change doesn't start with the majority - it starts with a few people who dare to live honestly. In this episode, you'll learn:- Why the world feels more polarized than it really is- What people actually want in life, according to the data- How the media and social platforms distort what most people believe- Why authenticity makes you happier, stronger, and more impactful- How your personal choices create ripple effects with global impact- Practical steps to live more truthfully and reclaim your voice This conversation will change how you see the world — and your place in it.If there's one episode to listen to and share, it's this one.For more resources, click here for the podcast episode page. Stepping into leadership can feel overwhelming ... especially when you're looking around at how everyone else does it. But here's the truth: no-one else leads like you, because no-one else is you. In this Box of Keys episode, I discuss why the best leaders don't copy someone else's style - they lean into their own strengths and lead in a way that feels authentic. Drawing on Gallup research and years of coaching experience, I share why self-awareness is the key to confident, effective leadership, and how to let go of comparison so you can inspire others in a way that only you can. If you've ever wondered whether you're “doing leadership right”, this conversation will remind you that your unique approach is exactly what your team needs. --The Unlock Moment podcast is brought to you by Dr Gary Crotaz, PhD. John 8:15-16, You judge according to the flesh; I am not judging anyone. But even if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone in it, but I and the Father who sent Me. Amazing! In this case, Jesus was not judging anyone because the Father wasn't judging. That's what love looked like in that instance. How often do we judge according to the flesh when we should not be judging at all—as an act of love with Jesus? It seems, if anyone deserved judgment in this case, it was the Pharisees. If He isn't judging them because He's entrusting them to the Father, shouldn't we do the same with those who seem like our adversaries? Otherwise, we are "judging according to the flesh." The next time we feel compelled to judge someone, it might be wise to check to see if we are reacting in the flesh as the Pharisees were. It will free us to love with Jesus. What is truth? It is what God does, sees, judges, and testifies to with His Son. Individuality is the flesh and is what the world praises and worships. Union with God reveals the truth. Living to love with Jesus reveals not individual goodness or righteousness, but the truth that a person is no longer an individual, but is a life united with God. May we be filled with thanksgiving and praise for the miracle of new life in Christ, revealed as we love with Him. I invite you to become a partner in our ministry. Would you pray about becoming a regular supporter of Elijah Ministries and the Live to Love with Jesus ministry? I hope you will receive the joy and benefit of "giving it forward," so others may receive encouragement to turn their hearts to God and to live to love with Jesus. In this next special episode of Free Speech Forward in celebration of the Declaration of Independence, Chris and Joia speak with Episcopal chaplain Dan Isadore. He reveals why the loneliness epidemic plaguing America's youth isn't solved by offering more "belonging"—but instead by restoring individual agency and the sacred value of each person. Drawing from his transformative friendship with mathematician James Miller Peck, Isadore exposes how stolen attention through technology and group identity politics prevents young people from developing authentic selfhood. As a university chaplain fighting for the next generation, he shares his radical grassroots approach of creating "visibility" moments where youth feel truly seen and heard—sparking them awake to their own creative power. Discover why he believes misinformation fears stem from top-down authority assumptions, how free speech directly flows from respecting individual sacredness, and his simple-yet-effective grassroots mentoring method that prioritizes going to people rather than expecting them to come to your institution. This episode connects the Declaration of Independence's timeless principles to today's mental health crisis, offering hope for anyone who cares to help young people rediscover their voice and freedom in an increasingly conformist world. He is a philosopher of biology interested in the study of symbiotic interactions, and their implications for philosophy of biology (the concept of natural selection, the definition of species, etc.), and general philosophy of science (explanation, modelling, methodology of science, etc.). He is the author (with Elisabeth A. Lloyd) of Units of Selection (Cambridge University Press). In this episode, we focus on Units of Selection. We start by discussing the debate surrounding units of selection in evolutionary biology.
