On the podcast, special guest Chris Doughty, a Financial Advisor and President of Gentian Financial, joins us to talk about rethinking retirement when you plan to live to 120 years old. They consider the mindset you need to cultivate to be able to fund your longer life and the difficulty in dealing with the rules in place for traditional retirement funding like Social Security, 401K plans and Roth IRA. Having a plan that considers health, wealth, retirement, mindset and your priorities is very important when thinking finances for a longer lifespan. Invest in your health, plans for re-education and other ways to maintain a longer life. Find who you can collaborate with to lift yourself up to achieve these goals. Special Guest: Chris Doughty is a Certified Financial Planner™ and President of Gentian Financial, who is also focused on longevity for himself and his clients. Chris has specialized in retirement planning ever since he began his career in the financial services industry in 1996. As a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor, he has in-depth knowledge of the needs individual face both before and after retirement. Using customized tax mitigation planning, retirement income forecasting, distribution planning and estate planning, he endeavors to help his clients derive income from their savings, maximize asset growth while mitigating tax liability, and pass their wealth to succeeding generations in accordance with their wishes. Chris has also attained the prestigious CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification, one of the most respected financial planning credentials among consumers and a recognized standard of excellence in personal financial planning. “It was a desire to help people with one of the most important, yet underserved aspects of their lives – their finances – that inspired me to begin working in financial planning,” said Chris. Chris builds strong, close client relationships with the families and individuals he serves. “I seek to understand them first and discover what they really want out of life, and then help them pursue this. If you can find out what people really want and need, you help them accomplish something great, whether it’s in retirement or in life,” Chris added. Before establishing Gentian Financial, Chris worked with many of his team members at another Raymond James group, Alliance Wealth Management in Milwaukee, which he co-founded and served as vice president and financial advisor. Earlier career stops include financial advisor at Morgan Stanley, vice president and financial advisor at Cleary Gull Advisors, and first vice president and financial advisor at B.C.
