"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13Imagine an eagle soaring high above the majestic mountains, its wings spread wide as it dances through the clouds. This powerful creature symbolizes the freedom and heights we can achieve when we embrace our potential. Just as the eagle effortlessly rides currents of air, we too can discover new horizons when we let go of self-imposed constraints. Remember, as Tony Robbins said, “Limitations live only in our minds.”  Let me paraphrase Philippians 4:13 in this format, "When my strength runs out, Christ hands me His — enough for the next step and the one after. I move not by my will, but by His wind at my back." In other words, our capabilities are not defined by our circumstances but by our faith. When we reach deep within ourselves and trust in God's promise, we can break free from the limitations we have accepted. Remember, "you don't conquer by confidence in yourself, but by communion with Him. In Christ, every 'impossible' becomes possible." Matthew 19:26 says, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Reflect on the story of Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt. Despite his initial hesitations, he rose to the occasion, guided by God's unwavering purpose. Just as God empowered Moses to achieve the seemingly impossible, He is ready to inspire each of us to step beyond our current boundaries, proving that “with God all things are possible.” Remember, we are not fearless, but we are fortified because Christ turns our trembling into tools and our limits into launchpads. As we think about our own journeys, let's remember that every goal we strive for begins with a single step. Zig Ziglar wisely said, “You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” Each small effort you make is a building block toward your larger aspirations, reminding us that God is always with us, encouraging our growth. Amen. Ephesians 3:20 says, "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us." Amen. Prayer for the Day! Heavenly Father, thank You for the potential You have placed within each of us. Brethren, I pray for you; may the Lord help you to see beyond your limitations and to trust in His mighty power. May He open the eyes of your heart to recognize that the walls before you are not fortresses but invitations to witness His deliverance. May courage rise in your spirit, clarity rest upon your mind, and peace guard your heart. May doors open that no man can shut, and may you walk in the fullness of God's purpose for your life. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Born in Murray, UT as one of five kids, Dr. Nicholas K. Howland was raised in the LDS church. After receiving his Doctorate of Medicine at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, he now practices in Draper, UT as a board-certified plastic surgeon. He specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery and aesthetic services, developing personalized surgical and nonsurgical treatment plans to help patients achieve their aesthetic and medical goals. He is one of the few (if not, only) plastic surgeon(s) in the SLC area to treat patients who identify as transgender.A proficient Russian speaker, Dr. Howland's global perspective was broadened by a two-year church mission in St. Petersburg, Russia, prior to his collegiate studies. Outside the operating room, he cherishes time with his two children, whether it's at the lake or in the mountains. Growth in this life is progressive; maturity is not a single event but a steady yielding to divine instruction, pruning away distractions, offenses, and pride. The measure of true growth is not in knowledge or religious activity but in obedience that flows from love. Obedience to the faith means allowing the life of God within to dictate choices, emotions, and actions until every part of your being reflects His peace. Through this communion, God writes His laws upon the heart, teaching the soul to walk in freedom and power. Guard your heart fiercely, for offense is one of the greatest thieves of spiritual strength. Refuse to carry anger, bitterness, or resentment into any new day. Practice quick forgiveness, soft speech, and inner quietness; exercise your conscience daily until it is free from offense toward both God and people. When past pain or trauma tries to define your reactions, remember that the old self has died. You are not a sum of your wounds but a new creation whose life flows from the Spirit. Let joy, peace, and gentleness replace every trace of anger or fear. Live from this healed center—daily surrendering, daily loving, daily forgiving. When you fail, rise quickly. When you're wounded, invite the Spirit's healing. The Son of Righteousness still rises with healing in His wings, restoring every heart that turns toward Him. Within weeks I will publish my first book, TransparentSEE: How I learned to SEE through my journey as a parent of a transgender kiddo . I share a few excerpts with you today as a means of connection and sharing of my story of moving through all of the discomfort that comes with being raw, open and vulnerable.The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention states, “There's no single cause for suicide. Suicide most often occurs when stressors and health issues converge to create an experience of hopelessness and despair.” Efforts that counter loneliness and isolation all point to human connection.  I believe connection is a vital component of suicide prevention, long before a person exhibits warning signs.  I am in no way suggesting this as a quick fix or a replacement for adequate mental health care and being proactive about getting it.Showing up vulnerably is the only way to “true connection.”  Shooting the breeze about what you had for lunch,  how was work/school, or did you see the latest movie aren't going to cut it. Heartfelt, raw and authentic sharing followed by open ended, thoughtful questions is a pathway to true connection.
