New Money Making Conversations episodes drop daily. I want to alert you, so you don’t miss out on expert analysis and insider perspectives from my guests who provide tips that can help you uplift the community, improve your financial planning, motivation, or advice on how to be a successful entrepreneur. Keep winning! Two-time Emmy and Three-time NAACP Image Award-winning, television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald interviewed Monica Cornitcher. Entrepreneurial journey, the inspiration behind Medase Cocktails, and the realities of launching, funding, and scaling a premium nonalcoholic spirits brand in a highly competitive market. Purpose of the Conversation The purpose of the episode is to: Educate aspiring entrepreneurs on how to build a differentiated consumer brand Demonstrate the importance of storytelling, market clarity, and operational discipline Highlight the growth of the nonalcoholic / zero‑proof beverage movement Inspire founders—especially founders of color—to own their niche, seek capital strategically, and scale intentionally. Key Takeaways 1. Business Built from Personal Need and Purpose Medase Cocktails was co‑founded by Monica and her lifelong friend during her friend’s battle with breast cancer, a time when alcohol was no longer an option—but celebration still mattered. The brand was created to allow people to celebrate authentically without alcohol It carries emotional depth rooted in friendship, gratitude, and loss Monica continues the mission after her co‑founder passed away in 2024 Lesson: Purpose-driven businesses create deeper emotional connection and long-term brand equity. 2. Differentiation Is Everything Monica deliberately rejected the “sparkling water with flavor” model common in nonalcoholic drinks. Her differentiators include: Authentic cocktail taste (Old Fashioned, Margarita, Moscow Mule) Organic juices, not artificial flavors Bold packaging that stands out on shelves Drinks designed to smell, taste, and feel like real cocktails Lesson: Competing on authenticity—not cost—is how you carve out market share in crowded spaces. 3. Brand Names and Stories Matter The name “Medase” means “thank you” and reflects gratitude, friendship, and emotional support. Monica emphasizes: Every flavor name, color, and product decision has a story A strong brand narrative creates curiosity, loyalty, and investor interest Lesson: People invest in brands they feel—emotionally, not just intellectually. 4. Venture Capital Is Not Just About Numbers While financials matter, Monica stresses that VCs also invest in founders and stories. What helped her secure venture capital: A compelling personal story Relevant founder skill sets (M&A, law, operations) Clear understanding of the market opportunity Lesson: Early-stage funding often depends on who you are and why you’re building, not just revenue. 5. Research, Planning, and Discipline Before Launch Unlike many food startups, Medase did not begin in a kitchen. They: Conducted a feasibility study Built a formal business plan Worked with a Black female food scientist Set strict personal funding limits before seeking capital Lesson: Preparation reduces risk and builds long-term sustainability. 6. Scaling Requires Operational Maturity As sales increased—especially on Amazon—Monica emphasized the need to move from “hustle mode” to operational excellence. Key scaling principles: Understand unit economics Track ROI for events and activations Adjust pricing as volume increases Build strategy across marketing, operations, and distribution Lesson: Hustle starts the business; operations grow it. 7. Niche First, Expansion Later Medase does not try to be “everything to everyone.” Core customers include: People seeking a break from alcohol Health-conscious consumers Black men looking for alcohol replacements Consumers wanting cocktail taste without hangovers Lesson: Strong niches create loyal advocates who fuel organic growth. 8. Smart Distribution Strategy Rather than rushing into retail, Monica prioritized direct-to-consumer channels: Amazon (top-performing channel) Brand website TikTok Shop Only after 6–7 months of traction did retail expansion become viable. Lesson: Control your margins and demand before entering expensive retail environments. Memorable Quotes “I wanted an authentic cocktail without compromise.” “Everything we do has a story behind it.” “Sometimes it’s not about the financials—it’s about the founder and the story.” “Don’t be everything to everybody. Find your market and stick with your market.” “Hustle starts the business, but operations give you scale.” “If it tastes too much like alcohol and you gave me a one-star review—thank you. That means I did my job.” Overall Message This episode is a real-world entrepreneurial blueprint showing how clarity of vision, emotional authenticity, disciplined planning, and niche focus can turn a personal idea into a scalable national brand. Monica Cornitcher exemplifies the modern founder:visionary, data-aware, emotionally intelligent, and unapologetically authentic. #SHMS #BEST #STRAWSupport the show: https://www.steveharveyfm.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What happens when getting a client order feels like a burden instead of a celebration? Business strategist Sunita Kumar shares the exact moment she knew her successful health product business had to end-despite still making money. Her story reveals how our bodies send us signals long before our minds catch up, and why pushing through friction isn't always the answer. Sunita brings a unique blend of Cornell engineering, MBA credentials, and human design expertise to help seasoned entrepreneurs recognize when they're operating from an outdated identity versus their authentic design. This conversation dives deep into the difference between effort that energizes and effort that drains, exploring why so many entrepreneurs get trapped in business models that work on paper but feel misaligned in practice. You'll discover Sunita's framework for recognizing when you're in a 'to-do versus get-to' mindset, her 48-hour rule for avoiding shiny object syndrome, and how she helps clients experience what she calls 'clarity that feels like an exhale.' Whether you're questioning your current path or feeling stuck despite doing all the right things, this episode offers a fresh perspective on building a business that truly fits how you're designed to operate.Want to grow your podcast, land more guest appearances, and save hours every week? Following principles of business administration is the path to disaster for your business or any business. Yet business administration is what's taught in business school and revered as the highest goal of management. We need to change how we think about business, which requires changing our mental model.Entrepreneurial leadership is the new mental model..In Part 2 of the special 3-part series of The Value Creators Podcast featuring the alternative approach to the business administration methods taught in MBA school, Venture Mode, Hunter Hastings and co-author Mark Packard continue their exposition of what comes after traditional business administration. Together, they examine how business schools institutionalize bureaucracy, why reform from inside the system is nearly impossible, and how administration mode crowds out entrepreneurial leadership. They introduce a radically different alternative: the Master of Business Enterprise (MBE)—a new model of business education grounded in entrepreneurship, experimental learning, uncertainty, and real-world value creation. The conversation explores why customers—not processes or analytics—must be at the center of business thinking, and why skills like empathy, judgment, creativity, and tenacity are essential for navigating uncertainty. This episode challenges long-held assumptions about business models, what business education should teach, who it should serve, and how entrepreneurial leaders are truly developed.Key Insights:Why the MBA reinforces administration mode and systematically underproduces entrepreneurial leaders. How exploration, discovery, and customer-centered value reshape business education. Why entrepreneurship must be learned through practice, empathy, and real-world experience.Resources:➡️ Learn What They Didn't Teach You In Business School: The Value Creators Online Business CourseConnect with Mark Packard on LinkedInGet the book "Venture Mode: Escape the Administration Trap"Connect with Hunter Hastings on LinkedInSubscribe to The Value Creators on SubstackChapters:00:00 – Why Business Schools Produce Administrators, Not Entrepreneurs02:10 – How the MBA Institutionalizes Administration Mode04:50 – Why Accreditation Prevents Real Reform07:15 – Introducing the Master of Business Enterprise (MBE)09:50 – Subjectivism, Customers, and Value Creation12:45 – Why Entrepreneurship Cannot Be Reduced to Checklists15:40 – Teaching Empathy, Judgment, and Creativity19:20 – Learning Entrepreneurship Through Practice23:30 – Who Is the Real Customer of Business Education?31:45 – The Future of Entrepreneurial Leadership

In this episode of Inner Edison Podcast, Ed Parcaut sits down with Evan Poling, founder of BizRetire, for a conversation about entrepreneurship, startup friction, and what it really takes to build a marketplace business. Evan shares the story behind BizRetire, a platform designed to connect business buyers and sellers more directly and reduce the bottlenecks of the traditional broker-driven process. The discussion explores why so many businesses never sell, why founders often fail to think about exit strategy early enough, and how a seemingly simple business idea becomes much harder when you are serving two different sides of a marketplace at once. This episode is also about founder reality: slow builds, website delays, marketing confusion, pricing lessons, outsourcing mistakes, and learning how to focus on the problem you actually solve. If you enjoy honest conversations about entrepreneurship and building something from scratch, this one delivers. *Contact Ed Parcaut:** -

Entrepreneurship can open doors that a traditional career path may never reveal. Many of us spend years focused on building a career, achieving goals, and becoming experts in our field. But sometimes the opportunities that create the biggest impact are the ones we never expected. What starts as one step of obedience or curiosity can open doors to relationships, partnerships, growth, and purpose far beyond the original plan. Success is not always limited to titles or income. Sometimes growth comes from being willing to step outside of what feels comfortable and explore new opportunities. Through relationships, consistency, and a willingness to learn, unexpected paths can create meaningful impact both personally and professionally. While many careers depend on constant performance and presence, entrepreneurship can create flexibility, stability, and new ways to serve others. More than business, it becomes an opportunity to grow, educate, and build something with purpose. In this episode of Time Out with the Sports Doctor, I share how launching this podcast became a turning point in my journey and how it led me into entrepreneurship, wellness education, and new business opportunities through Bravenly Global. You'll hear clips and conversations from a special event hosted at my home with healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, and company leaders discussing health, faith, resilience, multiple streams of income, and the importance of surrounding yourself with people who challenge you to grow.  "Anytime I'm able to be around someone who has reached the top of their game, I'm always trying to pick up the small nuggets."– Dr. Derrick Burgess Topics Covered: (00:00:00) Introduction (00:00:42) Entrepreneurship beyond medicine (00:02:58) Relationships and partnerships (00:03:28) Wellness and prevention in healthcare (00:05:55) Multiple streams of income (00:06:57) Introduction to Bravenly Global (00:08:30) Entrepreneurial insights and mindset (00:09:32) Sacrifice, commitment, and purpose (00:11:47) Overcoming obstacles and setbacks (00:13:41) Community and collaboration (00:14:23) Entrepreneurship during uncertain seasons (00:16:14) Financial stability and growth (00:17:26) Relationships and long-term success (00:20:05) Faith, leadership, and company values (00:22:02) Wellness and mental clarity (00:23:34) Closing message Key Takeaways:   "I understand what getting paid with podcasting is, because it's not about money. It's about relationships, it's about opportunities." "There are things that we need to supplement because we cannot eat enough to get all the things that we need in our diet." "Income is not always guaranteed." "It doesn't matter if it's life, work, entrepreneurship. You're going to run into an obstacle. Prepare yourself for the obstacle.  "People don't want to have to go to bed at night and wonder how am I gonna pay that credit card off before the interest." She's feeling some kind of way because her husband has more time to go out and do the things he wants to do, while she doesn't have that same amount of time. She's wondering how she should handle this situation. God has placed things in her heart to pursue, but she feels constrained by being the primary caregiver for her children. She's wondering what she should do about this. __________ Partner with Us: https://churchforentrepreneurs.com/partner Connect with Us: https://churchforentrepreneurs.com Leave a Comment: https://churchforentrepreneurs.com/comments __________

    4. George Fox: The Rise of an Ambitious Merchant Tailor George Fox exemplifies the entrepreneurial ambition inherent in many Irish immigrants. Trained as a tailor, he initially earned a pittance sewing for major retailers but eventually opened his own shop on Broadway. Fox became a master of self-promotion, advertising extensively and providing free, high-quality clothing to President Millard Fillmore and prominent senators to build his reputation. This transition from journeyman to master was a primary goal for many skilled Irish artisans. Since New York was rapidly expanding, carpenters, masons, and tailors were rarely out of work, allowing them to accumulate savings and provide social mobility for their children. 41880 ACHILL
