Is this the podcast destined to save us all? Is this podcast... the ONE?? Well, Trinity only likes this podcast as a friend, so we guess not. We're talking THE MATRIX! Scuttlebutt in the air is that a Matrix reboot might be coming down the pipeline so Sam (@samgasch) sits down with comedy LEGENDS Angela M. Webber (@angelamwebber) and Meredith Hackman (@Big_Mer)! The Matrix is an amazing movie, but what if it were made today? Would they have even BIGGER cell phones? Only one way to find out, give us a listen! Writer, podcaster, and one half of the Doubleclicks Angela M. Webber returns to go track-by-track through their brand new album The Doubleclicks Love Problems. Along the course of this conversation, we talk about the impact of inertia on breakups, the bullshit gendering of baby clothes, and how sometimes there no excuse: you've just gotta call Jonathan Coulton.Signature Cocktail: the Sensitive BadassIts strong, fierce, and honest. WE ARE BACK. Angela Webber (of The Doubleclicks) joins us for Play It Again, Charlie Brown, a fascinating examination of the feminine responsibility, all the rocks, and convincing people you're from the future – all sandwiched between about 15 minutes of uninterrupted Beethoven music. Topics of discussion include: the marketable skills of the Peanuts gang; watching a dog fall asleep to piano music in real time; our new self-help book, "How To Win Friends & Convince People You're From The Future"; Maybe Getting That Combo Together We Had Once Before, and other totally normal human phrases; Sally hating everything (including Dale Earnhardt Jr. and all the rocks); in this month's Cosmo, "The One Trick To Make Man Stop Playing Piano & Pay Attention To You"; Lucy fails the Turing test; a sustained blast of aerosol right to Peppermint Patty's face. Angela M. Webber can & has done every kind of production under the dang sun. She's one half of the feminist-nerd-folk-comedy music duo The Doubleclicks, co-host of the So What Do We Do? podcast, and her hair looks great. Audio blandishment by Ken Plume. Check out his highly excellent interview podcast, A Bit Of A Chat With Ken Plume. (Ken's chat with Josh / Ken's most recent chat with Molly) Go to http://waffle.media for more good good content.
"So What Do We Do" is coming soon! Storm DiCostanzo & Angela M. Webber present a lighthearted take on news and activism. It's serious business, but we want you to feel good enough to get out of bed. Subscribe for the first full episode, coming soon!
Writer, podcaster, and one-half of The Doubleclicks Angela M. Webber is here to discuss They Might Be Giants and American Girl dolls. Along the way, we discuss how it's possible to have all the posters in your room be of people named John, how tit's not possible to have a band full of Dans when your drummer is named Marty, and how even when you're picking your imaginary friend, you can still be eminently practical. Signature Cocktail: the Exquisite Dead Guy Whether you're in a concrete shrine, Apartment 4, Brooklyn, Charleston, or Cabbagetown, this drink will provide you an oasis of hooch, although afterwards, you may not know if you're Ana Ng, Doris Cunningham, Dr Worm, or Dan Hankey's Actual Drums. 2oz reposado tequila 2oz mandarin juice (or lemon juice for more sour, or orange juice for more sweet) 1oz sweet 'n' sour* 1oz Cointreau Run a lime wedge around the rim of a cocktail glass, and dip it into some kosher salt. This is the SECOND HALF of "Return to the Ice!" We are at South Pole Station. We've got a nihilistic German documentary filmmaker, a Scottish legacy explorer obsessed with aliens, a grad student named Susan Dorothy Science (you can call her SueDo), and a BAND! Of course there's a band on the South Pole. Hope nothing weird happens! (Weird stuff happens).
This is the FIRST HALF (part 2 is out Wednesday!). We are at South Pole Station.
McMurdo Station, Antarctica. It seems like a nice place to hang out, open a coffee shop, go to college—but it turns out, it's sort of terrible. The University is hoarding information, a newcomer carries a terrible secret, and suddenly, a barista and a professor discover a dead body in a purple jumpsuit! What does it mean, and what do the Hairy-Chested Yeti Crabs have to do with it? If you become a science deputy, we might just be able to tell you what's happening.
The City of OurTown has six news stations, and all of them are vying for the Peabody Award for News Excellence. Animal News One has the best zoo news thanks to the OTTER BROS, News Channel 6 has some exciting stories (some of them seem made up, though), and Action News 11 has some amazing secrets about other stations and their financial mismanagement—and a very dedicated intern named Crate, or Clamp, or something. Of course, there is a Malaria outbreak in OurTown, but that doesn't really seem newsworthy when there's so much ZOO NEWS! Enjoy love, death, and art films in this episode of GOSH DARN FIASCO! God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen!!
Our players are a TOURING ROCK BAND, WHEN THE MUSIC STOPPED, in a playset about a band who used to be famous. We find space-themed a cappella band Teenage Space Falcon 20 years after their last world tour. One member is a farmer with a pet falcon, another is a lawyer, another a roadie with a mysterious accent. Can the reality show "GETTING THE BAND BACK TOGETHER" get the band back together? And will the UFO Beacon on the roof ever start beeping like it did back in the day? Let's find out together! Featuring Lucia Fasano, Richard Malena, Kyle McCormick & Pat Rafferty! Sponsored by Gen Con: gencon.com!
Our players head to CAMP DEATH, a playset written by James Gabrielsen all about a haunted camp with a mysterious past and lots of problems. The counselors come early to set up and are greeted by a bus driver who loves PBJs, a messed up squirrel corpse, and a forest that takes impressionable youths and turns them into experienced hunters. What does it all mean? That’s a wonderful question. Featuring Lucia Fasano, Richard Malena, Kyle McCormick & Kevin M. Arnold! Sponsored by Gen Con: gencon.com!
On this introduction episode, host Angela M. Webber and GAMING EXPERT Richard Malena tell you about the rules of Fiasco and what's coming up on the Gosh Darn Fiasco Podcast. Come back February 1 for the first full episode of the show!
