It's a megapowered flower-power super-duper bloody moon! And in support of Artemis, Diana, Hjúki and Bil (amongst others), we decided to semi-theme this episode by focusing on monsters, zombies and horror themed topics. Army of the Dead, IT Chapter 2 (and the Dark Tower), the Darksiders and Diablo games, Lovecraft Country, the list goes on (and was a lot easier to come up with an episode's-worth of content than Pete expected - we're dark mofo's apparently!) Beers reviewed this episode: 1) Mismatch Brewing Co. - Strawberry Sour - Sour - 3.0% 2) Batch Brewing Co. - Small Batch: Greg's Pumpkin Pie - Porter - 5.5% 3) Bad Shepherd Brewing Co. - The Haze of Revan - Black NEIPA - 6.2% 4) Deeds Brewing - The Second Horseman - Imperial Stout - 10.0%
Joining me on this episode are the two co-founders of Batch Brewing…Andrew Fineran, who joined me from Marrickville, and Chris Sidwa all the way from New Jersey.Batch Brewing should be pretty familiar to you all, this isn't the first time they have appeared on this podcast, and they are from one of Australia's most popular craft beer hotspots, Marrickville. What you may not know about Batch however, is what has been going on behind the scenes in the business. Over that last 12 months or so, some subtle changes to the business have been made. Some of them because of Covid, others due to the state of the market, and they are about to open the business up to an equity crowd funding offer.Plenty going on, so I thought I would get the lads on to talk about what all the changes mean for the future of the business. If you are interested in the equity crowd funding offer, you can get more information from here:https://equitise.com/offer/batch-brewingWant to help spread the craft beer gospel?Follow me on Instagram, Facebook, or YouTubeRate, Review and Subscribe on Apple Podcasts...click link on phone and scroll to bottomOr Follow/Subscribe on you favourite podcast player
When you’re more than 2,000 miles from the nearest country there’s a tendency to rely on all things local. That’s what Batch Brewing Co., a Sydney, Australia brewery has in mind when it is creating recipes. From supporting local maltsters to getting the pick of Southern Hemisphere hops, cofounder Chris Sidwa talks about why he’s happy to stay local and what that can mean for the overall health of his business. An American who moved down under a decade ago and is now back on his native soil, he talks about brewery growth, burnout, and how owning a business can take a toll on creativity. How can brewery owners keep that creative spark alive among all the paperwork? It might be a return to their roots. Join us for a very different episode to our usual format, where we take a deep dive into this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) – if you aren’t into your video games this might not be the episode for you, but we promise you it’s filled with our usual antics and poorly thought-out opinions! Working our way through the press conferences for Electronic Arts, Microsoft, Bethesda, Ubisoft and Sony, we discuss the importance of a storyline over graphics, give our thoughts on some forty-odd announced titles, Microsoft’s latest beast of a console (yawn), our opinions on engaging better with the people behind the video games we love so much, and why dental hygiene is important if you’re going to appear on a stage in front of millions of people. Oh, and we drank some craft beer too! Today's episode is Jason and Alex from Batch Brewing Company. Alex has been around since the beginning of Batch and is now one of the brewers at Batch. Jason is part owner and business man and head of shenanigans and taste testing at Batch. Jason, Alex, and I hung out the other night down at Batch and talked about Batch Brewing Company, the Michigan Brewers Guild Beer festival up in the U.P., and some potential future plans for Batch. I had a great time chatting it up with Jason and Alex. Make sure you head on down to Batch Brewing Company in Corktown and try some of their delicious beer and amazing food. After recording this podcast I had Chef Matt's Coney Pasty, which was amazing. Chef Matt just released his latest specialty, a Monte Cristo Pasty. I Can't wait to go down and try one of those. This episode takes us down to the historical Detroit neighborhood Cork Town with Head Brewer and Founder of Batch Brewing Co. Stephen Roginson. You may know Batch Brewing from their Kickstarter Campaign, as the 2013 Hatch Detroit contest winner, as one of the hottest new brewpubs in Detroit. Stephen was such a great interview. He has a great story about how he got into brewing and how he hustled to get Batch Brewing Co. up and running. They are one the hottest new brewpubs around and not only are they producing creative and flavorful beers but they are also using their brewery to give back to the community with the Feelgood Tap. Go down and enjoy a beer, some food, and some good conversation. This episode I am going to highlight a bottle opener company that is running their kickstarter campaign right now, Eagle Lock Company Cap-Off Bottle Opener. This is an awesomely unique bottle opener and conversation starter. American made, hand crafted bottle openers using the original Eagle Lock Company design from the 1940's. Mike and Matt have a great product and I want their kickstarter campaign to succeed. So go check them out on Kickstarter Eagle Cap-off bottle opener and support the cause! As always you can join the conversation on my website, billsbeerreport.com or Facebook at Bill's Beer Report. If twitter and instagram are more your speed, check me out @BillsBeerReport.
