Since the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is no longer a thing (R.I.P.), the Summer Game Fest -- an expo similar to E3 but hosted primarily online -- is all gamers have in the summer to see what video game companies are developing in the next year (or quarter as they do in that industry). Teebs and KidPhoenix are on the job with what they took away from this year's Summer Game Fest. What did they take away? What are they excited for (if anything because you know how they are with video games)? After the break, there are some things your hosts would love to see, so they're going to hopefully plant some seeds and see if there is any harvest provided. The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has officially announced the closure of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), a once-pivotal event in the gaming industry. This announcement marks the end of an era for a convention that has been a central showcase for both the U.S. and global video game industry for over two decades. According to Stanley Pierre-Louis, President and CEO of the ESA, a combination of factors contributed to the decision to discontinue E3. These include the emergence of new competitors, partner withdrawals, evolving audience preferences, and disruptions caused by the pandemic. Despite efforts to revive the event, which has been a staple since 1995, these challenges ultimately led to its downfall. E3 began as a trade show in response to the marginalization of video games at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Over the years, it transformed into a massive multimedia event, showcasing major consoles like the Wii, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. It also became a platform for industry personalities, such as Hideo Kojima and Reggie Fils-Aimé, to gain fame.
Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan would be too conspicuous for Debbie Ocean’s heist so instead we just sit back and review how Sandra Bullock and company fared in Ocean’s 8. The sequel/reboot of the Ocean’s franchise is helmed by Gary Ross instead of Steven Soderbergh, but still maintains a lot of the style of the original films. But does that mean it’s a great film? Listen to us discuss the cast, the heist, and what it means to be an Ocean’s movie on this week’s episode. We were too busy watching the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) to actually have much to talk about movie-wise this week, so other than Westworld’s newest episode, we mostly just talk about trailers like First Man, Halloween, and The Lego Movie 2. Next week, we will return with more movies and a review of The Incredibles 2. You can find Film Fallout every week on iTunes, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, as well as anything else that pulls an RSS Feed. Feel free to share the podcast with your friends if you enjoy it, and rate and subscribe on iTunes to help spread the word as much as possible!

Join us for a very different episode to our usual format, where we take a deep dive into this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) – if you aren’t into your video games this might not be the episode for you, but we promise you it’s filled with our usual antics and poorly thought-out opinions! Working our way through the press conferences for Electronic Arts, Microsoft, Bethesda, Ubisoft and Sony, we discuss the importance of a storyline over graphics, give our thoughts on some forty-odd announced titles, Microsoft’s latest beast of a console (yawn), our opinions on engaging better with the people behind the video games we love so much, and why dental hygiene is important if you’re going to appear on a stage in front of millions of people. Oh, and we drank some craft beer too!
