Deadline broke the news that Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy is being courted as Marvel Studios' first choice to direct the franchise's next Avengers movie. Though so much isn't known about the future of the Avengers due to Marvel's internal shake-up reordering their release schedule of shows and movies as well as the Jonathan Majors legal issues and consequential firing, Deadline did say Levy was given a script from writer Michael Waldron. It is also rumored that more than 60 Marvel characters could appear. Captain America: Brave New World began reshoots in Atlanta last week, with new cast member Giancarlo Esposito joining the call sheet for the 22 days of additional photography. Unofficial, leaked set photos confirmed the actor's involvement after he heavily hinted at an unexpected role within the MCU. While we still have no word on which character Esposito portrays, all signs point to the role being, quote, ‘villainous' in nature. This week treated us to a batch of brand-spanking new, high-profile trailers, Let's break down our thoughts: Venom 3 Moana 2 Alien: Romulus J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings and Middle Earth works have seen their fair share of adaptations, but one character that has long been absent from the proceedings to the chagrin of many readers is The Fellowship of the Ring's Tom Bombadil. That all changes as Amazon's Rings of Power Season 2 is set to feature the character, with English actor Rory Kinnear portraying the enigmatic forest dweller. This was revealed in a Vanity Fair exclusive. Tolkien himself was often hazy on the character, who has been described as older than old, and more of an observer than active participant in the many conflicts of Middle Earth. We couldn't have expected to carve out a collectable popcorn bucket niche when we started this show, but here we are: Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds unveiled a cheeky ad teasing a somewhat risqué popcorn bucket for Marvel's upcoming superhero team-up. The bucket, shaped like a Wolverine head with a comically wide-open mouth, aligns with Kevin Feige's promise of a “crude and rude” design. Two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali is in talks to join Scarlett Johansson in the upcoming Jurassic movie. Chris Hemsworth is in talks to lead a Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover sequel to Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, with no release date yet. Jeremy Renner joins the cast of Rian Johnson's Knives Out 3, his first role since his early 2023 snowplow accident, alongside Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington, Mila Kunis, Josh O'Connor, and Cailee Spaeny. (Kaylee Spain-ee) In addition to producing the It prequel series for Max currently titled Welcome to Derry, Bill Skarsgard will also return to reprise his role as Pennywise the Clown from It and It Chapter 2. In a Variety Actors on Actors interview with Jodie Foster, Robert Downey, Jr. said the following when asked if he would return to Tony Stark: “It's the character that is most like me and I've become surprisingly open minded to the idea.” Warner Bros. Television is in the early stages of developing a 300 TV series prequel, with Zack Snyder in talks to direct and produce. Elle Fanning is in talks to star in Badlands, a new Predator universe movie directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who revamped the franchise with Prey. New Star Wars show The Acolyte is premiering right now, and Marvel Comics announced the wookiee Jedi character, Kelnacca, will be getting a one-shot comic book written by Cavan Scott. Netflix is currently developing an animated series based on the popular video game Minecraft alongside Mojang Studios, the Swedish developer of the game. MCU and Lost star Evangeline Lilly announced on her Instagram that she is retiring from acting. Peaky Blinders fans can get excited as a film starring Cillian Murphy is in the pipeline. Plot details and more casting isn't known, but Murphy will also co-produce the film, which will land on Netflix.

Editors - Jason Ballantine ACE and Paul Machliss ACE While THE FLASH editors Jason Ballantine ACE and Paul Machliss ACE* both hail from Australia, this latest entry in the DCEU would be their first time meeting one another. Both editors have been advancing their careers away from their homeland for quite some time. Jason has worked in LA for the past ten years, while Paul has been in London for the last twenty. The director who would be responsible for bringing these two together is Andy Muschietti, Jason's director for IT (2017) and IT CHAPTER TWO (2019). The two editors split editing duties pretty much down the middle for THE FLASH, each taking five of the film's ten reels. One thing that did separate them for much of the film's development was geography. While Jason was holding down the fort at Warner Brothers Studios in LA, Paul was on location in the UK for seven months, assembling main unit footage with Muschietti. Following production, Machliss would join Jason in LA for six additional months of editing. And it would be six more months before Ballantine would put the final touches on the highly anticipated "metahuman" movie. Based on the DC Comics character of the same name, THE FLASH is the thirteenth installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The film is directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay by Christina Hodson and stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen (The Flash) alongside Ben Affleck, Michael Keaton, Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston and Maribel Verdú. In the film, Barry travels back in time to prevent his mother's death, which traps him in an alternate reality without metahumans. Barry enlists the help of; his younger self, an older Batman and the Kryptonian castaway Supergirl in order to save this world from General Zod and return to his universe. JASON BALLANTINE ACE Jason Ballantine began his editing career in the horror genre (one which he would return to often) with the Australian thriller WOLF CREEK (2005). From there he would edit other fright flicks, such as PROM NIGHT (2008), CRUSH (2009) and NEEDLE (2010). But it would be his work on director Andy Muschietti's adaptation of Stephen King's IT (2017) and IT: CHAPTER TWO (2019) that would put an exclamation point on Jason's work in the horror medium. Jason has also previously teamed up with directors Baz Luhrmann and Matthew Vaughn for THE GREAT GATSBY (2013) and THE KING'S MAN (2021) respectively. PAUL MACHLISS ACE While known most prominently for his work with Edgar Wright; SPACED (1999-2001), SCOTT PILGRIM VS THE WORLD (2010), THE WORLD'S END (2013), BABY DRIVER (2017) and LAST NIGHT IN SOHO (2021), Paul also edited; the pilot episode of FLEABAG (2016), eighteen episodes of THE IT CROWD (2006-2008) and films such as THE KID WHO WOULD BE KING (2019) and THE GENTLEMEN (2019). For his work on BABY DRIVER, Paul was nominated for an Oscar® alongside co-editor John Amos. * [Publisher's Note] The guests wish to express their regret and apologies for using he/him pronouns in referencing Ezra Miller (they/them). No disrespect was intended toward Ezra or anyone else. This oversight should be attributed to all of the following conditions: jet lag, old age, and recording this interview way too early on a Sunday morning. Thanks for your understanding. This episode is the second part of our in-depth discussion with director Anthony DiBlasi. If you haven't heard the first part, we recommend you do. This isn't a sequel, it's a continuation. Like “Stephen King's It Chapter 2” or “Kill Bill Volume 2” or “Twilight: Breaking Dawn part 2”… Twilight is awesome. Oh, and another bit of business, we have a very special event happening next week. We will have a new episode every day of that week in celebration of a beloved horror franchise that is finally returning leading up to an exclusive group talk with the director and stars. This is our biggest Spill Your Guts project to date and we can't wait for you to see the surprises we have in store. We will have more to share with you in a few days.
