"Esperamos demasiado por esto y hay sensaciones encontradas porque podríamos haber tenido un mejor final", afirma Maya, a lo que Dawa agrega: "Espero que nuestros líderes escuchen el dolor de los ciudadanos de ambos lados (del muro), entiendan el precio enorme y horrible de la guerra y hagan lo necesario para evitar otra". Para muchos israelíes, el cierre solo llegará cuando el primer ministro Benjamin Netanyahu y otros funcionarios rindan cuentas por sus fallas, en una investigación independiente que no dependa, como ahora, del Gobierno. Gaza está a 60 kilómetros de esta plaza, pero solo la nombra una minoría o se invoca con un rencor que persiste y un ánimo de venganza. 55.000 personas se reunieron este domingo en el Vaticano para presenciar la canonización del venezolano José Gregorio Hernández, fallecido en 1919. Así se vivió en la plaza San Pedro el momento en que el médico oriundo de Isnotú se convirtió en santo de la Iglesia Católica. En una plaza San Pedro del Vaticano plagada de banderas venezolanas, el Papa León XIV ha canonizado como santo a José Gregorio Hernández. Cientos de venezolanos llegados de todo el mundo asistieron a la ceremonia, celebrada en latín, para hacer santo al denominado “médico de los pobres”. Y cada mención a José Gregorio fue aplaudida. Una de las venezolanas presentes era Gabriela, llegada de Estados Unidos para rendir homenaje, entre lágrimas, a una figura a la que muchos se encomiendan para sanar. “Cuando uno se pone en manos de José Gregorio, siempre hay una sanación, no solo física sino espiritual. Y en estos momentos Venezuela necesita eso”, dijo a RFI.
