However, there are still many misconceptions about what a gap year is and who may benefit from taking one. Knight provides thorough, informative insights on who should take a gap year, what a successful gap year involves, common parent concerns, the importance of experiential learning, COVID's impact on gap years, and more. NINE MONTHS WILL TELL BOOK TWO IN THE STORM LORD TRILOGY SERIES ---a paranormal romance Continuation of the Storm Lord Trilogy in Chapter Two, Nine Months Will Tell, finds Angelica Thompson and Sheriff Kevin Connors expecting their first child. Her pregnancy comes as a surprise to her and Kevin because it is precisely nine months after their defeat of Ethan Knight in Chapter One of the Storm Lord Trilogy series. The question now that arises for the two love-birds is whether the Storm Lord lost his life in their final battle in the first of the series or did he, somehow, miraculously survive the epic encounter. The expecting mother lives with pain day in and day out. She experiences dreams that are, once again, so real, she can never get more than an hour or two each night of sleep. Cherubs appear in her dreams. Demons appear in her dreams. Death appears in her dreams! It was in the last two weeks of her pregnancy she realized her child's life was being threatened by outside forces. Has the Storm Lord returned to her dreams? Who did she and Kevin kill in their first encounter if it wasn't the Storm Lord? Unfortunately, their lives, far from being made perfect, become complicated. Angelica continues to be a hostage from the Evil One and his enchantments and sorcery. Kevin continues, along with the shapeshifting sea captain, the one able to wield the massive blue flaming sword, preparing for when they meet again. Because of the nightmares, which don't seem to end, she never finds a moment to complete her second novel in the Storm Lord Trilogy series. Angel continues to discover more of the enchantments that hold her hostage. Why do all of the villagers in Black Rock Cove turn their backs on her when she comes to town? Why is it the FBI investigators continue to disappear overnight when in town to investigate the disappearance of so many children? Why are her nightmares getting stronger each day as she gets closer to having her first newborn? Why is her amulet beginning to glow again? More noise came from the front porch. Angel reached down and rubbed her pockets on her warmups, looking for her pepper spray, but both were flat! “Jesus Christ! Where did I leave my spray? Kevin is always getting on me for not carrying it with me!” Freddie Krueger, move over. There's a new name in town! ETHAN KNIGHT. … from Sidney St. James, a paranormal romance of epic proportions! Tests and the Rest: College Admissions Industry Podcast

The typical path for a student seeking higher education is to enter college right after high school. For what possible reason, then, would--or should--a teen consider deviating from that path to pursue a period of personal growth at home or abroad? Amy and Mike invited association executive Ethan Knight to enumerate multiple answers to the question, “Why take a gap year?”  What are five things you will learn in this episode? What exactly is a gap year, and how does one work? How does “radical juxtaposition” improve perspective? What three big reasons impel students to take a gap year? What is the optimal timeline to address gap years for applicants to public and private schools? Do any schools reward or penalize a commitment to a gap year in the application process? MEET OUR GUEST In 1995, Ethan Knight was one of several hundred students packed into a high school assembly at Catlin Gabel where he first learned about gap years.  He researched his options with a Gap Year Consultant, and eventually traveled for 7 months to India, Nepal, and Tibet. After his “time on” he returned to Willamette University where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in English and Philosophy and minors in Environmental Science and Spanish.  Ethan supported more than 2,000 students on their own gap year experiences, managed and subsequently founded a gap year organization and founded the Gap Year Association. Ethan has traveled to more than 50 countries, co-authored the Fair Trade Learning Standards and the Gap Year Standards, launched two nonprofits, one college, and three for-profit organizations. He has been a guest speaker on three continents, a TEDx presenter, and is a fan of all puns.  Find Ethan at ethan@gapyearassociation.org. Ethan Knight is the Executive Director of the Gap Year Association. In 1996, back before gap years were a thing in the US, he took a gap year to India, Nepal, and Tibet. The experience changed his life and he’s pretty much been working in gap year programming ever since. In this episode we cover a lot of the research around gap years. For example, young adults who do gap years graduate from college faster and are much happier in their careers. You will notice right away that Ethan and I have a lot in common and had a blast talking about how gap years have been so impactful in our own lives. Gap Year: using a year between high school and college in particular ways in order to maximize the value of college. In Episode 81, Chris Cahill talks Gap Year with Ethan Knight, co-founder of the American Gap Association. The AGA serves as a comprehensive resource for those interested in the programmatic Gap Year's instructional, experiential, and adventuresome qualities.   You can find out more about Ethan Knight and the American Gap Association here.   Or you can find them here: Twitter: @americangap Facebook LinkedIn      About Ethan Knight   Ethan Knight has been working within the world of Gap Years since 1996, when he took his own Gap Year to India, Nepal and Tibet. Back in those days the only options to taking an official Gap Year was through the Center for Interim Programs, and that's exactly how he first heard about this strange thing called a Gap Year. After an inspired talk at his high school, he started a conversation with Interim Programs to discuss what would eventually turn into his own sojourn. Ethan graduated from Willamette University - a small Tier 1 private liberal arts university - with majors in English and Philosophy, and a minor in Environmental Sciences. Immediately after graduating he went to work for LEAPNOW as an intern where his passion for education really took firm root. With the help of a few key mentors along the way, primarily Sam Bull, Ethan eventually led programs for groups of Gap Year students through Latin America and Asia, finally working his way up to Assistant Director of the organization. After seven years at LEAPNOW, Ethan returned home to Portland, Oregon to found Carpe Diem Education. While Carpe Diem began with just three programs, Ethan added five more over the next six years in order to create more options for a wider variety of students. During his tenure at Carpe Diem Education, Ethan also founded the International Carpe Diem Foundation (now Carpe Mundi) - a non-profit dedicated to the inclusion of economically disadvantaged students in Gap Year programs and higher education. It is currently the only non-profit of its kind in Oregon. Eventually, after 6 years at Carpe Diem he recognized a need for a professional association amongst Gap Year providers. The needs of the industry were demanding a hub for information-sharing, development of best-practices, and objective evaluation. Thus, in 2012 he worked with many in the field to found the American Gap Association.
