In this sobering and soul-searching message, Pastor Karl dives deep into Matthew 5:17–48, where Jesus declares that He came not to abolish the Law but to fulfill it—and then raises the bar of righteousness far beyond anything the scribes and Pharisees ever imagined.Through six piercing examples—anger that murders the heart, lust that commits adultery in the mind, casual divorce, manipulative oaths, retaliation, and hatred disguised as justice—Jesus exposes the truth we all try to avoid: outward obedience is never enough. God judges the heart. Every single one of us stands guilty before His perfect standard.Yet the bad news is meant to drive us to the best news. Pastor Karl powerfully unpacks how Jesus' command in verse 48—“You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect”—is not a cruel impossible demand, but the very reason the Son of God came. We cannot achieve the righteousness God requires, so God freely gives it to us through faith in Christ. Jesus took our unrighteousness and imputes His perfect righteousness to all who repent and trust Him.A hard-hitting, heart-exposing sermon that leaves no room for self-righteousness, but ends with the liberating joy of the gospel: guilty sinners can be clothed in the very righteousness of God and stand before Him as if we had never sinned. The question of our personal identity is crucial to life.  Our identity is tied to our closest relationships and our life's mission.  The deepest truth of who we are, however, is something we find in God and receive from Him, not something we have to figure out entirely on our own. By living the life God wants for us, we become our true selves and discover our true names.

After months away on maternity leave, we're back — and a lot has changed. In this episode, I open up about life after becoming a mom, what God's been speaking in this season, and why this break was so needed. We're also unveiling the new name of this podcast: She Lives Freed — a bold declaration over the women in this community and the mission behind every conversation we have. We're diving into some real and raw conversations this week, including: The heart behind the rebrand Life after maternity leave and how motherhood has reshaped my calling My thoughts on the recent Charlie Kirk situation — and why it's stirred up such an important conversation for believers Why I don't believe Taylor Swift should be celebrated as a role model for young girls — and the importance of discernment in pop culture And more unfiltered, Spirit-led thoughts on culture, calling, and living boldly in truth This episode is a reset, a reintroduction, and a rally cry for the women who are done playing small. Takeaways: God often uses seasons of rest to refine our purpose. Culture will always try to disciple the next generation — it's up to us to point them back to truth. Matt & Bob are powered by Chuy, as per usual on this fine Thursday morning. BOB gets into hot water with his wife by standing on the business of not paying an unfair fee levied against the community, Gene Simmons gets up to "concussion people", monkey madness behind the wheel, and the intern formerly known as Georgia comes clean about her legal troubles, starting the new trend of hitting rock (and roll) bottom and calling it "Pulling a Georgia". Maybe that is what Gene Simmons was trying to do. Anywho, she probably needs a new name. Send appropriate and polite suggestions, please. She is still a Lady. Sawyer Stull pops by with his perky pup. Cuteness ensues. See you tomorrow for hotdog Fri-yay! Support the show: https://www.klbjfm.com/mattandbobfm/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Episode Notes What happens when branding chaos meets creative grind? In this episode of Until You Make It, Chris and Mike sit down with designer Chris Rumeau to dig into the messy middle of making things—from sketching hundreds of logos on graph paper to rebranding a local coffee shop, chasing clients through Instagram reels, and figuring out how merch design can carry a career. Along the way, The Bitterheat's debut video gets dissected, flag football strategy gets way too serious, and the crew debates whether “Razor the Mattress Salesman” was actually cool. From logo dumps and stinger experiments to AI visuals, the crew unpacks how creative work actually happens: late nights, weird tangents, and plenty of trial and error. It's a mix of design shop talk, production talk, and accidental comedy—all in one episode. What You'll Discover: How sketching logos by the hundreds can unlock a brand identity Why merch design is a secret bridge for musicians and artists How Instagram reels can actually land real clients The comedy of signatures, stingers, and failed branding experiments The pros and cons of letting AI “help” with creative work Whether you're grinding through freelance projects, chasing music dreams, or just here for the ridiculous side stories, this episode blends practical lessons with plenty of laughs. 00:00 – New Name? Episode 83 Oh friends, this episode made me smile so big! I loved, loved my conversation with Hosanna Wong. Hosanna is an author and spoken word artist and she is intent on equipping people to share the gospel around the world. She also loves basketball and sports so much that she and her husband call themselves a sports family and especially a basketball family. In fact, we spend the first 5 minutes of this episode (at least) talking about sports and basketball. But then! Then we get to the heart of our conversation, which is all about Hosanna's new book, “What God Says About You”.   Friends, this book is fantastic! And Hosanna's heart for Jesus shines through each page, the pictures and the words too. This children's book came about from a spoken word poem Hosanna wrote and shared around the world. The poem is called, “I Have a New Name” and she wrote it for herself, but it resonated with so many people as she shared it. But it was in 2023 that she heard kids sharing her poem online and it made her sit up and realize that kids need to know who they are in God's eyes too. Thus, the book was born.  I loved hearing Hosanna read to us from her book and also to hear her explain some of the different names in the book and what our kids can take away from it as they read it. In fact, I found myself in tears as I listened to Hosanna read. The message of her book is powerful and profound. And it is needed! You are going to love it and want to add it to your bookshelves right away.  PS. Be sure to have your kids count the dogs as they read the book!  Other things we talk about in this episode: the weight of writing children's books, Illuminate Literary Agency (Hosanna and I's literary agency!), the way the truths in this book can combat the shame, the immense value and importance of speaking God's words over our children, and even how parents can use What God Says About You to reenforce the truth that they are made in God's image and their bodies are worthy of respect and protection.  Where to find Hosanna: Find Hosanna's new book here Find Hosanna's new book on audio here Find Hosanna's other books here Find Hosanna's website here Find Hosanna on Instagram here  Other resources mentioned in this episode: Find Greta's book, It's Time to Talk to Your Kids About Porn here The Greta Eskridge Podcast is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order authorizing the Department of Defense to use the Department of War as a secondary title. The update was made official during a White House event, where Trump said he was bringing back the original name of the department. And the action is raising questions over whether this is just a name change or a signal of something else.Alongside this, Trump posted two images that appear to be a veiled threat to Russia. This happens as the president says he's losing patience with Russian President Vladimir Putin. And also, in other news, a young woman who was stabbed to death on a train in Charlotte, North Carolina, is sparking outrage over what some call light-on-crime policies and an alleged double standard in reporting by the corporate media. We'll discuss these topics, and others, in this episode of Crossroads.Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and guests, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.
