What a night at St James' Park!
Eddie Howe's illness, while obviously a concern for everyone, did not disrupt Newcastle's focus on a Super Sunday. Newcastle's senior teams won 10-1 on aggregate as The Lasses put promotion disappointment behind them with six unanswered goals against Blackburn. Manchester United, meanwhile, left St James's Park with their tails between their legs; our midfield trio bullying them into submission. Kevin Keegan wasn't there to see his Wor Flags tribute, but he must have savoured our first league double over the Red Devils in 94 years. Two huge games this week for the boys with Crystal Palace calling on Wednesday night before a trip to Aston Villa; Champions League qualification is now less a hope than an expectation. Host Kris is joined by Deka, Mark, and Besty as the lads dive into Newcastle United's emphatic 4-1 win over Manchester United at St James' Park! ⚫⚪ The team breaks down all the key moments, standout performances, and what this result means moving forward. Big shouts for Sandro Tonali, Tino Livramento, and Harvey Barnes, who were all absolutely flying.
Jimbo has Duncan Alexander, Daniel Storey and Matt Davies-Adams for company as the race for Champions League football gets very interesting. Newcastle make light work of Man United with a 4-1 victory at St James's Park. Are they the best team in the country right now. And could they finish 2nd? Chelsea come from 2-0 down to Ipswich to salvage a point but fan discontent grows at Stamford Bridge. And it's squeaky bum time for Nottingham Forest who lose again at home to Everton. Could Moyes do a Nuno next season? Liverpool could win the title next weekend after Van Dijk's late winner against West Ham. And we ponder the chances of the English clubs in the Champions League next week. Plus Villa Park is great, Spurs are a shambles and goal difference is a lie. Produced by Charlie Jones. Hello! Welcome to The View from the Opposition. Andrew is joined by journalist and Man United fan Owen Younger. It's fair to say that Owen isn't too confident about Man United's trip to St James' Park to face Newcastle United. Newcastle United took six Premier League points from their first two games after winning the Carabao Cup, albeit three of them were a little easier than the others. Brentford came to St James's Park and put up a fight, equalising through Mbeumo before Tonali's not-a-worldie saved the victory in another "game-state" triumph. Then to Leicester, the third leg of George's relegation odyssey, and a sorry state of affairs where Newcastle only needed second gear to win (despite Fabian Schar's best efforts). Champions League football looks likelier than not now and we don't fear anyone, least of all Manchester United. Newcastle United's women completed a derby double, beating Sunderland in the home fixture at St James's Park with a crowd of almost forty thousand watching on. Substitute Shania Hayles was the scorer, her tenth in the league this season, as The Lasses (TM) retained local bragging rights with a one-nil win which also keeps their slim title and promotion hopes alive. Bradford is this year's UK City of Culture - but what does food have to do with it? Sheila Dillon visits the city to meet market traders, chefs and restaurateurs to find out how its industrial past has influenced the thriving food culture of today. She visits Bradford's St James wholesale market to discover how the Asian restaurant trade has been integral to the market's survival, before eating breakfast at The Sweet Centre, which serves the same Kashmiri breakfast speciality as it did for millworkers in the 60s. Two food projects are harnessing the vibrant multicultural nature of Bradford as part of its City of Culture celebrations. The Bradford Selection, orchestrated by artists Sonia Sandhu and Harry Jelley, tells the stories of Bradford communities through a series of biscuits. Meet My Mothers is a recipe book project representing the diverse food cultures in Bradford, as participant coordinator Aamta Waheed tells Sheila at the Women Zone community centre. Renowned Yorkshire food historian Peter Brears meets Sheila for a tea and some traditional pork ‘savoury duck' to talk about pre-industrial food of the Bradford district. Meanwhile, on BBC One, Harry Virdee is the eponymous detective star of thriller series Virdee, written by Bradford native A.A.Dhand. Sheila speaks to the bestselling author to find out how he wrote specific south Asian food and drink traditions into the series and his own childhood food memories of growing up in the city. How important is the city's food history, economics and culture to its hopes for regeneration? Shanaz Gulzar, creative director of Bradford 2025, summarises the city's belief in food as social cohesion and the confidence that the city feels after winning the title. Presenter: Sheila Dillon Producer: Nina Pullman

"He lived in the sixth century. He was so perfected in godliness that he was able to heal the gravest illnesses by his prayers. But the enemy of the human race brought a heavy temptation on him. There was once sent to him a woman who had been corrupted by some mockers. She pretended to weep before him, but enticed him to sin. Seeing that he would fall into sin, James put his left hand into the fire and held it there until it was completely burned. Seeing this, the woman was filled with fear and horror, repented and reformed her life. "But on a second occasion he did not resist and fell with a young girl whom her parents had brought to him to be healed of her madness. He indeed healed her, but then sinned with her and, in order to conceal the sin, killed her and threw her into a river. As always, the path from lust to murder was not very long. James spent ten years after that as a penitent, living in a grave. He learned after that that God had forgiven him, because, when he at one time prayed for rain in a time of great drought from which both men and cattle were suffering, it fell. "Here is an example, similar to that of David, of how wicked the evil demon is; how, by the permission of God, the greatest spiritual giants can topple, and how again, by sincere repentance, God in His compassion will forgive the greatest sins and does not punish those who punish themselves." (Prologue)
