Today on the Matt Walsh Show, New York City has abolished its jaywalking laws. Now, New Yorkers are free to get run over in the street, all in the name of “racial equity.” This is just a small taste of the kind of madness we'll see nationwide if Kamala is elected. Also, Donald Trump somehow continues to up his troll game. His latest stunt is the funniest one yet. And, Democrats are running ads claiming that Republicans want to ban porn nationwide. Click here to join the member-exclusive portion of my show: https://bit.ly/4bEQDy6 Ep.1476 - - - DailyWire+: My hit documentary “Am I Racist?” Is NOW AVAILABLE on DailyWire+! In Episode 47, Mark Graban and Jamie Flinchbaugh attempt another experiment in format, covering a range of quick-hit topics in the news rather than a single deep dive. As always, we welcome feedback. Before we got to that, however, our whiskey theme was also new, or new to us: we each picked a whiskey we hadn't tried before. Jamie's pick was Four Walls Irish American Whiskey, a celebrity whiskey from a group of stars from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, including Rob McElhenney, who famously co-owns Wrexham AFC, a 3rd tier football club in the UK, along with Ryan Reynolds. Mark's pick was inspired by his My Favorite Mistake podcast with the founder of Jeptha Creed with their Bloody Butcher's Creed 4 Grain Bourbon Whiskey, made from Bloody Butcher red heirloom corn grown on their own farm.  In the news, we covered four topics. First was Kentucky's decision to decriminalize medical errors, which allows healthcare providers to focus on providing care the best method possible and not going to jail just for a mistake, lessons from the RaDonda Vaught case in Tennessee. Next, while not really news, we discussed Jamie's Forbes article about Hanlon's Razor, including what a razor is, what it has to do with the lean principle of Respect for People, and how it can help choose a more productive path of action. Third we explore the Labor Notes' article declaring the end of lean production. Of course, we disagree, although both motivation and validly bad lean practices both contribute to their perspectives. Finally, we cover a Wall Street Journal article titled The Jiggle Is Up, about how companies are defeating attempts to manipulate work with mouse jigglers. There is so much wrong here, from culture to process to metrics, that we start to unpack.  We finally end, with July being so hot seemingly everywhere, with our favorite summer refreshing non-whiskey cocktails. But, you'll have to either listen to or skip to the end of hear our choices.  Jamie's pick: Four Walls Irish American Whiskey Mark's pick: Jeptha Creed Bloody Butcher's Creed 4 Grain Bourbon Whiskey My Favorite Mistake podcast featuring Jeptha Creed founder

When B.C. decriminalized small amounts of drugs in January 2023, it was seen as a promising weapon in the battle against the drug crisis. In May, B.C. walked that policy back, saying it caused disorder in the streets. In a similar move, Toronto tried decriminalizing, but the feds quickly shot down their attempt. So what gives? Was this year-long experiment a disaster? Was it not given enough time to flourish? Decriminalizing small amounts of illicit drugs is supposed to light a path to treatment for users and de-stigmatize addiction. But has harm reduction actually been achieved? The pilot decriminalization project in B.C. - in effect since January 2023 - has hit a snag due to concerns over public safety. Meanwhile, Toronto has been waiting two years for approval of its application to decriminalize drugs. Should that bid be adjusted as the city learns lessons from the west coast? We ask: DJ Larkin, executive director of the Canadian Drug Policy Coalition; and Derek Finkle, journalist and columnist for the National Post.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Today, abortion is only allowed in the case of rape or incest, if there is a risk of death for the pregnant woman, or in cases of anencephaly, a serious, fatal birth defect. In 2020, Oregon voters became the first state to largely decriminalize drug use and small amounts of hard drugs like cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl. Lawmakers pitched Measure 110 as a progressive, fresh approach to helping treat addiction rather than punish it, and the law passed with 58 percent support. Oregon's governor recently declared a drug emergency, as overdose deaths have been climbing year after year and Democratic lawmakers who first pushed to decriminalize drugs are admitting it isn't working. Oregon State Representative Kevin Mannix is a Republican who opposed the measure, and he joins the Rundown to explain how drug decriminalization has caused a rise in overdoses, why drug traffickers are now targeting Oregon, and what he believes could be a compassionate solution to help addicts while keeping drugs off the streets in his state. Although he is facing several criminal trials this year, former President Donald Trump remains the Republican frontrunner in the race for commander-in-chief. He continues to allege that the legal proceedings are a form of election interference, with one case making it to the Supreme Court. Today, the Justices will consider his appeal to a Colorado Supreme Court ruling that could disqualify him from the Centennial State's primary ballot for participating in an insurrection on January 6th. FOX News Legal Editor, Kerri Urbahn, joins to break down the legal questions at play in this decision and what this unprecedented case could mean for the election. In this episode Brian Kelmar answers the question, how should the criminal justice system treat those with developmental disabilities, and more specifically, defendants with autism? Brian Kelmar is the President and Co-Founder of Decriminalizing Developmental Disabilities, or DThree (formerly known as Legal Reform for the Intellectually and Developmentally Disabled).  Brian's journey of criminal justice reform began when his autistic son was convicted of having sex with a minor. Brian now advocates for policy change to allow sentencing judges to account for developmental disabilities and for others to be educated on this issue. Oregon’s Measure 110 — which decriminalized drug possession and directed more money into substance use disorder treatment   — was modeled after Portugal's drug policy approach. New York Times opinion writer and neuroscience journalist Maia Szalavitz has studied what’s happened over the last 25 years since the country began decriminalization. She’s written many articles and books on the subject of addiction, most recently “Undoing Drugs: How Harm Reduction is Changing the Future of Drugs and Addiction.”  She joins to tell us how and why decriminalization worked in Portugal and the lessons she believes it holds for Oregon — and the U.S. as a whole.

Several states in America are rethinking prostitution. Or at least how to address those who are involved in it.  For example, Maine's Governor Janet Mills recently signed a bill that will no longer make it a crime - for at least the adult offering sexual services. However, It would still be illegal to buy sex or be a pimp. And in New York state, lawmakers are also weighing a bill that would decriminalize 'sex work'.   Not surprisingly, these bills have reignited the debate over how best local and state governments should address the 'world's oldest profession' and those whose lives are negatively affected by it.  Earlier this month, New York Republican State Senator Anthony Palombo and Vice President of the National Center of Sexual Exploitation Eleanor Gaetan joined the FOX News Rundown's Lisa Brady to discuss the pros and cons of legalizing, decriminalizing, or over prosecuting prostitution.  Both guests had concerns for the safety of sex trafficking victims, but had different ideas on how best to help them and address the other crimes and social problems associated with the sex trade business.  We made edits for time and thought you might like to hear our entire conversation with Congressman New York Republican State Senator Anthony Palombo and Vice President of the National Center of Sexual Exploitation Eleanor Gaetan. Despite the United States accounting for around 5% of the world's population, it houses nearly a quarter of the world's prison population. This often discussed metric begins to make sense when examining the major cities like Los Angeles, New York and others, where things like poverty and mental illness are often considered “crimes.” Host Robert Scheer digs into this phenomenon in Los Angeles on this week's episode of Scheer Intelligence with Melissa Camacho, a senior staff attorney at the ACLU of Southern California.“First of all, it has to do with the criminalization of poverty, the criminalization of mental illness. What are we talking about? These are people who are innocent at this moment and they have not had any day in court,” Scheer expressed. Together, Scheer and Camacho discussed the recent small victories in L.A. county, where subhuman conditions set for detainees have gradually improved, including new limits on how long detainees can be held at inmate reception centers and how long they can be chained to chairs and benches. Camacho explained that the fight for the improvement of these conditions has been ongoing with the ACLU for over 50 years. Before this recent victory, detainees would be subject to environments people often associate with third world countries. “[Detainees] were getting stuck in the [inmate reception center] for days at a time, and those who were the sickest were stuck on the front bench, chained to the front bench for literally 24, 48, 72 [hours]. I talked to somebody who had been on the front bench for 99 hours,” Camacho said.Camacho also mentioned the efforts to control the levels of overpopulation often experienced at these jails. “Our L.A. County jails are authorized to hold around 12,400 people, but they consistently operate above that level, 14,000, 15,000. Before COVID, it was up to 17,000,” Camacho said. As a resident of Los Angeles, Scheer describes how he sees and knows that most of the time, the people who are getting arrested are part of the thousands of houseless people who line the streets of the city.
