Do you feel like there are two versions of you—the relaxed, present summer version and the overwhelmed, exhausted school-year version? In this episode, we explore what that gap can teach you about the way you're leading and what overwhelm may be changing about who you are. You'll reflect on the habits, boundaries, and patterns that disappear when the school year begins and identify what you may need to subtract to feel more like yourself all year long. You shouldn't have to spend the entire school year waiting for summer to feel like yourself again.Get The Principal's Overwhelm Toolkit Here We're thrilled to be sponsored by IXL. BONUS: How AI Took the Boring Out of Agile Coaching—Where Scrum Masters Should Actually Start, With Michael Dougherty Today we speak with Michael Dougherty — "Agile Mike" — about how a 30-year veteran of solution development and product leadership made AI a working part of his Agile coaching practice. Michael walks us through the journey from early ChatGPT curiosity, to documentation as the first real win, to the personal-passion project that built his comfort with the tools, and finally to where every Scrum Master should start: the retrospective. From Curiosity to Toolbox: A Slow Burn That Started With User Stories "I tried, and I thought it sucked at that. I'd rather write this by hand." Michael's AI journey started in late 2022 with ChatGPT — like most coaches, he tried to make it write user stories and acceptance criteria. It didn't work. The output wasn't usable, and he went back to writing them by hand. What looks like a failure was actually the first lesson: not every coaching task is a good fit for AI, and the way to find out is to try. He kept experimenting in the background through 2023 and 2024 — Claude, Grok, Perplexity — while keeping personal use and business use cleanly separated. The real shift came at the Department of Homeland Security, where he sat alongside ex-Googlers, ex-OpenAI people, and an Anthropic alumnus on the team building DHS's internal chatbot. Watching what AI could do inside a heavily-protected enterprise environment changed his frame: this wasn't a productivity hack anymore, it was infrastructure. The Boring, Tedious, Now Quicker: Documentation as the First Real Win "AI has taken all those boring, tedious tasks and made them quicker, more valuable, and more fun to boot." The first AI practice that stuck was documentation — the part of Agile coaching nobody enjoys but every client demands. Michael had spent years writing SDLC docs from blank pages, and his co-author on Shift: From Product to People used to look at empty docs and ask for help getting started. AI removed that blank-page problem. He'd give the model the team context, the client's documentation requirements, and a template — and get a draft to edit. He stayed in the loop as the human, bringing context, judgment, and final shape, but he no longer started from zero. The same shift happened with presentations: instead of fighting PowerPoint spacing, he tells the AI to drop content into a template and gets back a formatted deck. Small tasks, but multiplied across a coaching week, they bought back real time. The Personal Project Trick: Find Something You Love First "Find something you have a passion with, something you really enjoy. That made me feel comfortable with AI so I could do more." Michael's strongest advice for coaches who feel intimidated by AI isn't to start at work — it's to build something for yourself, in a domain you care about. His own example: the Nordic Metal Tour Tracker, a personal AI agent for tracking heavy metal bands across Northern Europe (and Spain and Portugal). It plays music. It maps tours by country. It exists purely because he loves heavy metal. The trick isn't the tool — it's that working on something he actually cared about removed the fear and built the muscle memory. Once the comfort was there, transferring it to work became a small step instead of a leap. He references the rundown AI as a daily input that keeps him aware of how others — even people in their 80s — are using AI for everything from gardening to balanced school lunches. A Week With Preppy Paul: Agents, Connectors, and the End of Inbox Drudgery "Preppy Paul gives me a list of all my meetings today and the top three items I should have on each one — based on my notes, my email, my calendar." Michael's current weekly routine looks nothing like his Agile coaching week from three years ago. He works at Zion Cloud Solutions as a Tier 1 Google AI partner, splitting time across three roles: about 20–30% traditional Agile project management (coaching a Scrum Master on a state of Illinois project), and the rest as an AI Growth Engineer and AI delivery lead on short 4–6 week projects with 3–5 person teams. The backbone is Google Gemini Enterprise — a platform that lets him run Claude, ChatGPT, or any major model behind enterprise protection (Model Armor, the SAIF framework). Inside it, connectors pull in Gmail, Outlook, Calendar, Confluence, Jira, Slack, Teams, monday.com, and thousands of other tools — each agent inherits only the permissions the user already has. A few practical patterns he runs every week: Preppy Paul — an agent that prepares him for the day's meetings, pulling top topics per meeting from his notes, email, and calendar. Meeting-to-email — AI records and summarises every meeting, and he asks the agent to draft updates to specific team members directly from the summary. LinkedIn drafts in his voice — hashtags, formatting, and tone all match his style; he edits lightly and posts. The pattern across all of these: the agent isn't replacing the work. It's removing the friction between the meeting and the next conversation. The Retrospective: The Best Place for Every Scrum Master to Start "Don't have it be the same darn Jira spreadsheet of the same darn three questions every time. Go to AI and eat your heart out with it." When pushed for one thing a Scrum Master could try tomorrow morning, Michael was clear: the retrospective. It's the one Scrum event where creativity is usually welcome, where format experimentation has a low cost, and where teams are already expecting something new. Ask AI for retrospective formats that fit the team's current situation — review five or ten options, pick one, run it. The signal you watch for within a week is double: how many improvements the team generated, and how many of them actually got done. The simpler signal is the team's reaction. If at the end someone says "that was fun" — and then you tell them you used AI to design the format — you've shown the team what AI is good for without a single slide or framework. It's the smallest possible experiment with the largest possible upside. Experiment Like a Scientist, Not a Spectator "Don't be afraid of it. Try whatever you can with it. Have the viewpoint of a scientist." The trap Michael sees most coaches falling into is curiosity without commitment — reading about AI, watching demos, talking about it, but never building anything. His framing is the opposite: be a scientist. Run experiments. Some will fail (his user-story attempt did). Some will quietly become essential (documentation did). The way to find out which is which is to keep trying, in low-stakes contexts, with both personal projects and small work experiments. The coaches who'll be useful to their teams in 18 months aren't the ones who can describe AI accurately — they're the ones who've built enough small things to know what AI is bad at, what it's surprisingly good at, and where the human in the loop has to stay. Today our guest is Torrin Johnson, Executive Director of MTSS at Merced Union High School District in California. Torrin shares how his district built a Tier 2 support system from the ground up, what they got wrong at first, and how pairing trained intervention coordinators with explicit skill-based curriculum helped bring their suspension rate to below 1% across 11,000 students. He also explains why matching the right intervention to the right student need is the most important and most commonly skipped step in Tier 2 implementation, and why the difference between a skill gap and a motivation gap changes everything about how a school should respond. In this conversation, Torrin offers important reminders for educators and leaders: A strong Tier 2 system does not replace Tier 1. It runs alongside it, and students receiving Tier 2 supports still need a solid Tier 1 foundation underneath them. Applying the same intervention to every student regardless of need is not neutral. Matching the right intervention to the right gap is what makes Tier 2 actually work. Students who have never been explicitly taught self-regulation and interpersonal skills will tell you so. When schools teach those skills directly, students notice and respond. Principals are central to Tier 2 success. Investing in their understanding of the why behind the system is just as important as implementing the interventions themselves. If you have a handful of students who need intensive phonics intervention, a few who are reading well above grade level, and everyone else somewhere in the middle, you might be wondering: How am I supposed to meet all of these needs without burning myself out?The good news is that meeting every student's needs doesn't mean giving every student the exact same support. In this episode, Sara is breaking down how to support your struggling readers while still making sure the rest of your class is getting meaningful, appropriately challenging literacy instruction. She shares a helpful doctor analogy that reminds us that different students need different types of support—and that different doesn't mean unfair. You'll also hear practical ways to strengthen your Tier 1 instruction, use partner work to support all learners, make the most of your intervention time, and plan meaningful work for the rest of your class while you're meeting with small groups. In this episode, you'll learn:Why meeting every student's needs doesn't mean giving every student the exact same supportWhy not every student needs to meet with you in a small groupHow explicit Tier 1 instruction can better support struggling readers before intervention even beginsHow partner routines like RallyCoach can provide struggling readers with support while deepening learning for stronger readersA simple five-day intervention framework for making the most of your small group timeHow to plan meaningful literacy work for the rest of your class while you're providing interventionWhy it's okay for your intervention students and the rest of your class to be working on completely different assignmentsIf you're feeling overwhelmed trying to fit every student into a small group or make sure everyone completes the same work, this episode will help you rethink what effective support can look like. Your job isn't to give every student the exact same thing—it's to figure out what each student needs and provide the instruction that will help them grow.Resources Mentioned:⭐ The Stellar Reading Intervention Kit: Stellarteacher.com/intervention

He describes, almost line by line, the way I ran CottageLink Rental Management for the best part of 15 years: every contract in my head, every standard different, every decision routed through me. I got right up to that wall at 200 properties and never went through it. I sold instead. This conversation is honest about what that costs, and specific about what has to change before you can climb. Whether you are at five properties or 150, you are somewhere on this ladder. About the guest Simon Lehmann is one of the most recognized figures in professional short-term rental. He was CEO of Interhome, co-founder and chairman of Vacasa Europe, chairman of MadeComfy in Australia, and a board member at HomeAway and Breezeway. Through AJL Atelier he advises property management companies worldwide, with most of his one-to-one work in the 50 to 200 unit bracket. He hosts the STR Global Unlocked podcast and is launching the Simon Lehmann Academy, a self-serve curriculum built from 21 years of domain knowledge. Some people in this industry call him the Godfather. Key takeaways Below 50 units you are the system. Every standard, every owner agreement, and every exception lives in your head, and that is exactly what stops you growing past it. The first real hire is not a junior assistant or a VA. It is an operations person who can take 50% of the work off your hands so you can start being strategic. Saying yes to every property will cost you later. When operators finally analyze owner lifetime value and margin contribution per property, they typically find 20 to 25% of the portfolio is dragging the whole business down. Tier your owners internally, into three tiers, no later than 100 units. This is an internal exercise, not an owner-facing one, and it is the first step toward a single standard contract. The number worth building your reporting around is net margin contribution per unit. Most managers know how profitable the business is. Very few can tell you how profitable one property is. You have to fire yourself from the position that creates the biggest bottleneck in your company. Selling while you are still the operator means the buyer discounts the price by the cost of replacing you. Simon replaced 4,500 Swiss francs a month of software with tools he built himself, having described himself as technically illiterate six months earlier. The AI wall works the same way as the 50 unit wall. Once you break through it, it gets easier. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Add your name and email to our friends of the show list, we'll never share it. Michael #1: Web UIs for your reverse proxy Traefik, nginx, and Caddy all sit in front of a lot of self-hosted infrastructure, and all three are configured by hand-editing files. Three active projects put a control plane on top: Traefik Manager (Python + Flask), Nginx UI (Go + Vue), and caddy/ui (React + Node). All three are additive rather than replacements - none of them take ownership of your config away from you - which is the part that matters when the thing has write access to production routing. Traefik Manager is the Python one: Flask 3.1 and Gunicorn for the control plane, a lightweight Go agent for remote instances, currently v1.10.0 with an Android companion app. Nginx UI is a single Go binary at 11.3k stars, with a block-style config editor, an Ace editor doing LLM completion on nginx syntax, and an MCP server so agents can drive it. caddy/ui runs as two containers next to your existing Caddy, reads and writes your Caddyfile directly, and uses Caddy's /adapt API to validate before reload - no Docker socket required. Each one edits the config the underlying server already reads, so your files stay the source of truth and you can drop the UI without unwinding anything. Undo is a first-class feature across all three - timestamped backups with optional Git history, config version compare and restore, Caddyfile snapshots with one-click rollback. Observability is where they diverge: Traefik Manager does CrowdSec and a visual route map, Nginx UI does server metrics, caddy/ui streams access logs over SSE and pulls p50/p95/p99 off Caddy's Prometheus endpoint. Maturity spread is wide - Nginx UI has 11.3k stars, caddy/ui has 4 and was built in a single Claude session - and caddy/ui ships with auth off by default, so set CADDY_UI_USER and JWT_SECRET before it goes anywhere near a public interface. Calvin #2: Wagtail 8.0 is hot off the presses Link: https://github.com/wagtail/wagtail/releases/tag/v8.0 Custom base page models are now supported, so projects aren't locked into subclassing Wagtail's Page as shipped (Matt Westcott). New v3 REST API handles both read and write CMS operations, a first for Wagtail's API. A global registry for permission policies, plus full customizability for the remaining page views via PageViewSet. AVIF and WebP images are no longer auto-converted to PNG by default, a real behavior change to watch on upgrade. Five security fixes: page admin API restrictions, document identification by SHA1 hash, descendant collections in the Documents/Images API, snippet copy permissions, and the page translation endpoint. Formalized Django 6.1 support, and CI now runs on uv with a lockfile. Sponsor: Logfire from Pydantic Your AI agent failed at 2am. Was it the model? A tool call? The database? Most observability tools can't tell you, because they only see part of your stack. Pydantic Logfire sees all of it. One trace across your agents, LLMs, APIs, and database. You can even click “Onboard with your coding agent” to copy a prompt to have claude or codex integrate Logfire into your app. Thanks to Pydantic for supporting the show. Calvin #3: RISC-V is now officially supported by CPython Link: https://blog.python.org/2026/08/riscv-now-officially-supported/ CPython added RISC-V as a tier 3 platform under PEP 11, specifically the 64-bit Linux target riscv64-unknown-linux-gnu. RISC-V is an open ISA anyone can implement, unlike x86 and ARM, and its market is projected to quadruple by 2032. The RISE Project donated real RISC-V machines for buildbots; the author's work was funded by a Sovereign Tech Agency fellowship. What changes: the port is now a maintained compatibility target, so CPython changes are less likely to quietly break it. What doesn't: no python.org installers, no binary wheel parity for native extensions. Next up: RISC-V runners in CPython CI for pre-merge feedback, then a push toward tier 2, plus architecture-specific optimizations. The ask is testing. If you have RISC-V hardware, build CPython, run your test suite, file what breaks. Tier 3 is the weakest support tier. PEP 11 tier 3 requires a core developer contact and a buildbot, but failures on tier 3 platforms explicitly do not block a release. Saying "ongoing CI/testing expectations" oversells it. The honest bit is "someone is now on the hook for it, and breakage gets noticed," not "it's guaranteed working." Worth the caveat that this is Linux SBCs, not microcontrollers. A VisionFive 2 counts, an ESP32-C6 or Pico 2 does not. Those are 32-bit non-Linux parts where MicroPython is still the answer. Michael #4: Django's annual releases make every version an LTS Starting with Django 2028, Django will move to one January feature release per year, adopt calendar-based version numbers, and support every release for three years. The old distinction between standard and LTS releases disappears, giving teams a predictable annual upgrade path that aligns more closely with Python's own release and support cadence. Every Django release becomes the safe, long-supported choice, so teams no longer need to wait for a specially designated LTS version or absorb two years of changes at once. Each release gets one year of mainstream bug fixes followed by two years of security and data-loss fixes. New releases support the three latest Python versions and add the next Python release during their first year. Calendar versioning begins with Django 2028, followed by Django 2029 and so on. Three Django versions will be supported at any time, giving third-party packages a clearer rolling target. Nothing changes before 2028, and existing commitments for Django 5.2 LTS and 6.2 LTS remain in place. If your cost of acquiring new customers keeps climbing no matter what you spend, this one's for you.In this episode:- Why Google Search has a demand capture ceiling- The difference between demand capture and demand creation channels - Why branded search clicks cost 10-20x less than non-branded keywords - The "zone of indifference" and why it's 80% of your market - Why the agency rotation trap makes Google Ads more expensive- Why hook rate and hold rate matter more than landing page optimization - The B2B creative mistake of writing ads for users instead of buyers - How messaging extraction uncovers what decision-makers care about - Three questions to ask your agency if your Google spend has stalledMentioned in the Episode: Case Study on Optimizing Ad Spend: https://perpetualtraffic.com/podcast/episode-801-from-2-5m-to-4m-a-month-ad-spend-barely-changed-heres-why/ Tier 11's Data Suite: https://www.tiereleven.com/what-we-do/data-suiteJoin Ralph Burns and John Moran every Friday for The Ad Lab Live: https://www.youtube.com/@Tier11/streams Listen to This Episode on Your Favorite Podcast Channel:Follow and listen on Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/perpetual-traffic/id1022441491 Follow and listen on Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/show/59lhtIWHw1XXsRmT5HBAuK Subscribe and watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@perpetual_traffic?sub_confirmation=1We Appreciate Your Support!Visit our website: https://perpetualtraffic.com/ Connect with Ralph Burns: LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/ralphburns Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/ralphhburns/ Hire Tier11 - https://www.tiereleven.com/apply-now Mentioned in this episode:https://perpetualtraffic.com/advertise-with-us/

Jones and Keefe tier off every opponent for the Patriots for the 2026 season, and they seem quite optimistic for the Patriots.
Jones and Keefe continue the show with their thoughts on the Red Sox on another winning streak and how the roster and the lineup look as the post season slowly approaches. The two of them then question whether or not Chad Tracy should be the full time manager of the Red Sox and be there long term. The guys dive into Tier Tuesday where they tier off every Patriots 2026 opponent, and how tough really is the Patriots schedule this season?

Kate O'Connell, an international education consultant and leadership coach based in Cambodia, joins the podcast to discuss her journey from classroom teacher to headship across four countries. She unpacks the difference between coaching and mentoring, and how she blends both to help school leaders find their own answers. The conversation also covers Link Leaders' new "Leadership Studios"—peer cohorts that create safe spaces for leaders to connect and grow—and why differentiated, problem-based support is key to effective professional development. Kate closes with her mission to humanize education through leadership, and simple advice: get a coach. We're proud to be sponsored by IXL. Jethro D. Jones sits down with Simon and Jill from ClassVR at ISTE 2026 to talk about the company's newest VR innovations in education. They dive into Thrive, a sensory regulation product designed to support students who struggle with dysregulation, and preview ClassVR's new STEM library, which lets students safely experience hands-on experiments (like chemistry reactions and dissections) that are often limited by budget or safety concerns in real classrooms. The conversation also explores how VR builds "organic skills" that develop over time, why immersive, judgment-free environments help students practice soft skills, and what schools should consider before adopting VR — from full-solution onboarding to keeping VR sessions short and focused for maximum engagement. Lured Up Podcast 405: Live Streamed on - 8/18/2026 Publish Date - 8/20/2026 We got back to basics last week, so we get back to gameplay this week. We start with a recap of the last week including having a week off of events, Nickit Community Day, and the kickoff of the Water Festival. Adam worked a card show but was able to squeeze in the final hour, and Ken was able to play in Red Bank with a solid group of Trainers. The Water Festival is a pretty awesome event, with new Pokémon, boosted Shinies, and some solid Tier 1 and 3 Raids. This week is also a great one to put in some grinding as we earn more and more XP and Stardust bonuses as we progress through the event. That week off was a nice break but Lunala and Mega Starmie mean that it is time to get back to Raids.Lunala's Shiny debut will be a popular one for sure, and a Super Mega Raid Day for Starmie will be 6 hours of Mega Raid goodness. We take a look at both Pokebattler and GO Hub to put a little Raid Guide and Battle Party together for them both. We will likely see plenty of Mega Mewtwo Y in the lobbies as it is a top counter for both bosses. We have some time before the end of month push with XP, Worlds, Mega Ascension, and the Mega Finale take over our lives for a bit. This week is the perfect opportunity to perform your Pokémon storage and item maintenance. It has been a struggle for many to recover from GO Fest, so you should have awareness now if you want to make sure your GO Plus can run non stop during the events. Is buying box storage the answer? It is really only a short term solution because if you don't have an inventory plan, you will end up out of space very quickly. We wrap up with our Professor's Principle of the week, which takes a look at how important it is to position yourself in a way to achieve small victories. From setting fun and unique personal challenges in the game, to letting Party play guide you, there are ways to keep momentum pushing forward to make a gameplay session more fun and engaging, without needing a big reward at the end. It parallels well with life too. Pride is an awesome feeling that is helped along when you feel accomplished. Finding a process that includes small and achievable goals is an awesome way to keep yourself feeling driven and motivated to press on. Is your Meta ad account stuck at the same growth level? We can run a growth diagnostic and recommend the right strategy to scale your business.Talk to us at https://www.tiereleven.com/apply Posting more content doesn't automatically mean better results. One of our favorite clients learned that the hard way after posting 156% subscriber growth in under six months. Such growth never sustains on autopilot, and figuring out why is what separates a good agency from a great one.In this episode, Tier 11 growth strategist Thomas Mcnaught joins me to unpack the full growth diagnostic we ran for the client. We cleaned up messy attribution data, discovered 10-minute video ads with a 0.01% completion rate, and made the counterintuitive call to kill state-specific targeting entirely, letting Meta's algorithm do what it does best. The result? A 20-25% CAC reduction in one week, with more upside coming. We get into creative diversification, campaign consolidation, and why Google and Meta aren't competing but assisting each other. Listen in and then review your ad account for the same red flags. Episode 320: A Simple Framework for Your Tier 1 Literacy InstructionWhen students are struggling with reading, it's easy to immediately start thinking about intervention and small groups. But before we add more intervention, it's important to take a closer look at the instruction every student receives every day: Tier 1.How can you strengthen your Tier 1 literacy instruction without adding more to your already-full literacy block? In this episode, Tami is kicking off our Supporting Every Reader series by sharing a simple framework that can help you make your whole group literacy instruction more connected, intentional, and effective. She introduces the 3-2-1 Framework for Deeper Comprehension—a practical approach that helps students build the knowledge and skills they need before, during, and after reading. You'll learn why strong Tier 1 instruction is the foundation of literacy learning and how the 3-2-1 Framework can help you maximize the time you already have. Tammy walks you through three things to do before reading, two areas to focus on during reading, and one simple practice to use after reading—all centered around the same text.In this episode, you'll learn:Why strengthening Tier 1 instruction should come before adding more interventionWhy small groups can't carry the full weight of your literacy instructionHow to use the 3-2-1 Framework for Deeper Comprehension to strengthen whole group instructionThree things to focus on before reading: background knowledge, vocabulary, and text structureTwo areas to prioritize during reading: applying the reading standard and supporting students with syntaxWhy syntax instruction can help students make sense of complex sentencesHow writing about reading makes student thinking visible and deepens comprehensionWhy stronger Tier 1 instruction isn't about doing more—it's about making the instruction you're already providing more powerful and connectedIf you're looking for a practical way to strengthen your Tier 1 literacy instruction, this episode will give you a simple framework you can start using right away. The goal isn't to squeeze more into your literacy block, but to make the time you already have work harder for every student.Resources Mentioned:⭐ The Stellar Literacy Collective: stellarteacher.com/join

Jethro D. Jones interviews Jamie Candee (CEO of Edmentum) about bridging the gap between K-12 education and career readiness. They discuss how AI is reshaping the job market, why "durable skills" matter more than ever, and how schools can expose students to career paths early through career exploration tools, workplace internships, and real-world partnerships (like Edmentum's MajorClarity platform and Roadtrip Nation videos). In Episode 217 of the Equipping ELLs podcast, Beth Vaucher delivers exactly what every ELL teacher needs in the first weeks of school — a clear, focused, week-by-week guide for moving from reactive teaching to a system that actually runs. Not a perfect classroom. Not a flawless first month. A grounded, intentional system that carries both teacher and students through the rest of the year.Beth opens by naming the mistake she made herself for years — trying to do everything at once in the first week of school. Getting to know students AND assessing levels AND launching the first unit AND setting up routines AND connecting with homeroom teachers all simultaneously. The result: everything done halfway, nothing done well. The framework she offers instead is built on a simple principle she names early: sequence equals success. One focus per week. One question to answer by Friday.Week one is entirely about knowing students before teaching them. Beth gives permission to skip the full instructional launch and invest in relationship building first — because students who feel known acquire language faster, and that is not just her experience but research. For newcomers specifically she is direct and clear: your first job is not instruction. It is belonging. She walks through what Week 1 actually looks like — getting to know you activities, speaking routines established from Day 1 using topics students actually care about, and observation with a general lens. Crucially, Beth frames this through an assets approach rather than a deficit one, asking teachers to focus first on what students can already do rather than immediately cataloguing gaps.Week two shifts from general watching to intentional informal assessment — one domain per day across the week. Monday speaking, Tuesday listening, Wednesday and Thursday reading and writing. Beth cautions against redundancy with classroom assessments already happening and encourages ELL teachers to use existing data rather than adding more assessment burden. By Friday teachers should have three clearly formed groups and have made one specific connection with one homeroom teacher — one observation, one resource, one relationship started.Week three is about launching and running. Beth connects directly back to the previous episode's unit planning framework and also offers a simpler entry point for teachers who are not ready for a full unit: DM the word ROUTINES on Instagram for five simple classroom routines that create the structure without requiring a fully designed unit. The key deliverables are baseline writing samples, speaking recordings, and any documentation system that teachers will actually maintain through the year.Week four is adjust and accelerate — looking at what the system is showing and responding. Moving students between groups, adjusting scaffold complexity, identifying students who need more targeted support than the group structure provides. Beth specifically names SLIFE students and long-term ELLs as the populations most likely to surface at this point — and frames the data collected in weeks one through three as preparation for the harder conversations with admin and colleagues that will happen in October and November. The episode closes with an honest and warm invitation to the free week trial of the Equipping ELLs membership — framed not as a sales pitch but as a direct response to the moment when the framework is clear but the resources are not yet there.FREE TRIAL: equippingells.com/trial — full access for one week, no credit card required.MEMBERSHIP CODE: TAKE20OFF — 20% off Tier 3 yearly for podcast listeners.FREE ROUTINES: DM ROUTINES to @EquippingELLs on Instagram.
Episode 319: MTSS 101: What Every Teacher Needs to KnowMTSS is one of those education acronyms that can quickly start to feel overwhelming. What does it all actually mean, and how does it fit together? What exactly is MTSS—and what does it mean for you as a classroom teacher? In this episode, Emily is breaking down the basics of MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) to help you understand what it is, why it matters, and how your everyday instruction fits into the framework. She also clears up one of the biggest misconceptions about MTSS: it's not a separate program just for struggling students. It's a framework designed to make sure every student gets the right level of support at the right time. You'll learn how Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 work together, why strong Tier 1 instruction is the foundation of an effective MTSS framework, and how data and progress monitoring can help you make better instructional decisions for your students. In this episode, you'll learn:What MTSS actually is and how it supports all studentsWhy strong Tier 1 instruction is the foundation of an effective MTSS frameworkThe key differences between Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 supportWhy tiers should describe levels of support rather than label studentsHow data and progress monitoring help determine when students need additional supportWhat it might mean if more than 20% of your students need interventionWhy early intervention is so important for preventing learning gaps from continuing to growIf MTSS has ever felt confusing or overwhelming, this episode will help you see the framework in a much simpler way. You'll walk away with a clearer understanding of how the tiers work together and how MTSS can help you provide students with the support they need to be successful. And be sure to tune in next week as we continue our MTSS series and talk about how to put MTSS into practice in your literacy classroom.Resources Mentioned:⭐ The Stellar Literacy Collective: stellarteacher.com/join

Ryan Wormeli and Derek Brown answer your questions on wide receiver values, running back strategy, tier breaks, dynasty trades, keeper leagues, superflex drafts, and the players they are targeting most this season.
