From attempted assassinations of Supreme Court justices to violent attacks on law enforcement and conservative reporters, America is witnessing a crisis of two-tier justice. In this episode, we examine the alarming rise of politically motivated violence, left-wing radicalism, and lenient sentencing that emboldens attackers. We also explore the growing threat posed by criminal gangs and militarized illegal immigrants in U.S. cities, the mismanagement of law enforcement resources, and the consequences of political bias in the judiciary. Plus, we break down the ongoing implications for national security, public safety, and election integrity — including the federal response in Chicago and other major cities.

A week after a lenient sentence in a plot to murder a Republican‑appointed Supreme Court justice, another left‑wing attacker shows up with a manifesto and 200+ explosive devices outside a Red Mass. In this episode we trace the pattern — shootings at newsrooms, bomb plots at public religious events, violent confrontations at motorcades, and juries and judges who seem to treat left‑wing attackers differently. From Portland's streets to Asheville and Washington, D.C., we ask: when courts, prosecutors, and local officials consistently fail to hold violent offenders accountable, who protects ordinary citizens and public figures? Tune in for a fast, unflinching breakdown of the incidents, courtroom decisions, and the rising fear that a two‑tier system of justice is empowering political violence.

“We don't need to work on decoding because students have access to assistive technology and accommodations.”“We don't work on word-decoding in high school.”“Working on reading in high school is too little too late.”If you've ever heard any of these arguments, you're not alone. Unfortunately, beliefs like these do students a huge disservice. That's why in this conversation, I share a clip from my interview with Tom Parton, an SLP with a long-career of experience in secondary education, as well as literacy advocacy work. Tom Parton is a private Speech Language Pathologist in Normal, Illinois. He retired after 35 years of public-school practice. Tom is President of Everyone Reading Illinois and is a member of ERI's Legislative Committee. Tom has presented on autism and language/literacy topics at local, state, and national conferences. Tom participated in the ISBE Reading Instruction Advisory Group and Teachers of Reading Certification task forces. He is currently a member of the ISBE Dyslexia Handbook revision team. He is past-president of the Illinois Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is ISHA Honors Committee co-chair and a member of ISHA's Leadership Development Committee. Tom is the 2024 chair of the American Speech Language Hearing Association Committee of Ambassadors. In my commentary and the clip from the interview, you'll hear discussion on:✅ Why providing access to technology alone won't solve access issues if kids lack adequate reading and spelling skills. ✅ Why accommodations and modifications aren't a substitute for reading instruction, even in secondary school. ✅ The impact of word-decoding on activities of daily living. If you're serving students in secondary school, you won't want to miss this episode. You can listen to the original interview with Tom on De Facto Leaders here: EP 178: Are we allowed to say “dyslexia” in the schools? (with Tom Parton) Link here: https://drkarendudekbrannan.com/ep-178-are-we-allowed-to-say-dyslexia-in-the-schools-with-tom-parton/In this episode, I mention Language Therapy Advance Foundations, my program that helps SLPs and other service providers create a system for language therapy. Today's episode dives into the escalating chaos in America—from violent gang activity and human trafficking in Chicago to unchecked Antifa attacks in Portland, and shocking political threats in Virginia. We explore how federal law enforcement, local authorities, and political leadership intersect with crime, creating what some see as a two-tier justice system. We examine: ICE agents and journalists under assault while city police allegedly stand down. Transnational gangs and the Democrat cartel nexus allegedly impacting communities and politics. Political figures defending or ignoring threats and violence against opponents and law enforcement. High-profile cases highlighting disparities in law enforcement and accountability. This episode offers a raw, unfiltered look at lawlessness, political extremism, and the consequences for safety, justice, and governance in America today.

Sometimes, the answer is "I just want to know someone out there is playing it."  Often times, though, designers are knee-deep in designing their One True Game, have sunk countless hours and funds into the process, and want it "in every game store across the country! And Target too!" For a single-title publisher, that's nearly unheard of. If you can name an exception, it proves the rule. So, join me for a discussion of what the 3-tier system is and why you should hold it in mind as a designer-publisher.

Cet épisode a été enregistré via Zoom le 28 août 2024 dans le cadre du programme CAORC/Andrew W. In this episode, I reflect on my conversation with my colleague Cassandra Williams as we discuss book and resource deserts, as well as how to engage with school communities. In the interview clip I share, Cassandra shares a story of how one of her colleagues found a surprising way to increase attendance at parent-teacher conferences when he took the time to ask members of the community what their needs were. Additionally, I share my commentary on how technology can both help and hinder literacy skills. Cassandra Williams is a true innovator in the education field, having dedicated over 25 years of her life to revolutionizing existing systems and setting new standards of excellence. With a degree in Elementary Education from Southern Illinois University and a Master's from California State University, she is also the founder of two successful elementary schools in Indianapolis. More information at www.patreon.com/RejectedReligion. Tjalling is a PhD researcher at the Center for History of Hermetic Philosophy and Related Currents (HHP), based at the University of Amsterdam. His research interests include intermediary beings, magic, alchemy and Paracelsianism, and the reception of these subjects in (early to late) modernity. He investigates these topics from an environmental perspective as well as through social categories like class. His doctoral project entails an environmental reception history of the concept of elemental beings from the sixteenth to the early twentieth century, through its manifestations in magic, alchemy, literature, mining and agriculture. In this episode, we explore the shifting terrain of magical contact—where spirits, nature, and power intersect. Drawing from his article “Encounters, Evocations and Elemental Beings”, we'll trace the philosophical and esoteric implications of two very different modes of engaging with the unseen: Paracelsus's reverent encounters with elemental beings, and Dr. Rudd's ritual evocations. Along the way, we'll unpack the role of monsters, the ethics of spiritual mediation, and the deeper question of whether esotericism must rest on a singular, perennial foundation—or whether it can evolve, diversify, and apply to new contexts like ecology, psychedelics, tulpas, and even extraterrestrial contact. This is a conversation about relational knowing, cultural consciousness, and the future of interdisciplinary esoteric research.I have one correction to mention beforehand; Tjalling made a mistake in his wording when he mentioned the text De Meteoris (which comes up in the discussion), in his haste to explain the temporal trajectory. In all texts before De Meteoris elemental beings have souls. They are soulless from De Meteoris onwards, but that text lacks the possibility for elemental beings to acquire souls through marriage. The Liber de nymphis introduces that, and thus fulfills the implications of reciprocity and immanence (the “seeking out” or initiation of contact) that are absent from De Meteoris. PROGRAM NOTES Correspondences Journal Volume 12, no. 1 (2024)Encounters, Evocations and Elemental Beings Primary Source: A Book On Nymphs, Sylphs, Pygmies, and Salamanders, and On The Other Spirits (Paracelsus, Henry E. In today's episode, we're joined by Jacob Deysel, CEO of Critica, a company that is exploring rare earths in Western Australia. Jacob brings a wealth of experience across multiple commodities and jurisdictions, and is now focused on building a project in Australia at a time when rare earths are front and centre in the global supply chain conversation. We'll be discussing Critica's roadmap built around Scale, Simplicity, and Speed and what it really takes to deliver on that. We'll also touch on the challenges of metallurgy and processing, competing in a market dominated by China, and the all-important path to commercialisation and offtake agreements. Finally, we'll hear Jacob's personal reflections on leadership, lessons from his career, and what excites him most as he drives Critica forward. KEY TAKEAWAYS Critica is moving beyond just exploration to rebrand as Australia's next rare earth developer, with its flagship Jupiter Project positioned as the largest clay-hosted rare earth deposit in Australia. The Jupiter project is differentiated by its scale, simplicity, and speed. A key technical advantage is its highly homogeneous deposit and a clean flow sheet that achieves 95% mass rejection Critica has mitigated key industry risks by being a well-funded project with a milestone-driven approach to spending. Its location in Western Australia, a Tier 1 jurisdiction with stable government  Critica's goal is not to replace China, but to build a preferred non-China alternative for rare earth supply, focusing on producing a traceable, ESG-compliant feedstock BEST MOMENTS "We are no longer just an explorer in the rare earth space. Under my leadership, Critica is rebadging... and we're moving forward as being Australia's next rare earth developer." "The biggest technical risk that most companies struggle with is metallurgy at scale... We are addressing that through a number of parallel work streams that's running at the moment." "Being a clay deposit have allowed us to reduce the mass upfront by 95%, upgrade the grade, the feed grade from the resource by about 800% before we get to leaching." "We are not replacing China, we are building a preferred non-China alternative in Western Australia... OEMs are really looking for traceable, ESG safe, compliant rare earth feedstock." Source: reuters.com The original proposal, advanced under the Biden administration in 2023, was scrapped earlier in 2025 amid fierce pushback from the banking industry, which argued it would impose unjustified hikes in capital requirements—potentially up to 20% or more for large banks—hampering lending and economic growth. Bowman, appointed under President Trump, described the redo as an effort to "rightsize" these requirements for larger banks, making regulations more effective and efficient without weakening safety standards. Does This Affect Gold? Yes, the Basel III Endgame revisions are broadly viewed as positive for gold, potentially boosting demand for physical gold as a reserve asset. Under the updated framework, physical gold is reclassified as a Tier 1 asset—equivalent to cash or U.S.
