Rethinking Scripture PodcastEpisode 52: Acts 8 - The SamaritansAugust 9, 2022 - Host: Dr. Gregory Hall In Acts 8, Philip made his way to Samaria to tell them the story of the Christ. This was significant for a number of reasons, but mostly because the Samaritans and the Jews didn't normally associate with one another. You may already know that, but today we will examine more closely how and why these two groups came to be at odds.Resources Referenced and/or Read:Deppe, D. B. (2011). Picking up a book is easy enough. But understanding the words can be a challenge. And when we read Gods word, we need the Spirit to bring it alive.
Pastor Mike continues the Acts series by look at the encounter between Philip and the Ethiopian Eunich. In this message, Pastor Mike explains the divine appointment, a willing believer, and the responsive unbeliever.

How listen, and respond to, the nudges of God in our every day moments - even when they don't make sense? What do faith risks look like? The Gospel explodes across Samaria and starts to go to the ends of the Earth (through the Ethiopian Eunich)
We are all called to be evangelists in that we are to be witnesses of the gospel of Jesus Christ. By looking at the characteristics of Philip the evangelist which we see in this passage as he leads the Ethiopian Eunich to salvation, we can all learn how to be better witnesses of Christ ourselves.
As we return to our study in Acts, we have the familiar story of the Ethiopian Eunich. The Spirit of God spoke to Philip, and with a heart of surrender, he responded. Like Philip, His Spirit also prompts us. As His church, we must have a surrenederd heart and be a willing servant. God's love is for everyone, and we need to obey when He is calling us to share it. Scripture: Acts 8
Every Preacher worth his salt must preach Jesus Christ and Him Crucified. Satan is filling the church pulpits with preachers preaching prosperity, emotionalism, marriage, politics etc..... And folks who have not heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ are claiming they have been born again. Impossible-- Stephen preached Jesus Christ to the Ethiopian Eunich and he believed.
Acts 8:26-40: God loves everyone but especially loves the one. In this sermon Pastor Byron teaches over Phillip the Evangelist and the Ethiopian Eunich and what it looks like for us to be a church that runs to the one.
This Sunday Rev. Meyers preaches from the book of Acts, chapter 8 verses 26 thru 39, a passage known as "Philip and the Ethiopian Eunich." Recorded Sunday, Apr. 29, 2018 from the pulpit of Mayflower Congregational UCC Church in Oklahoma City.
This past week, right after #PAOC #gencon2016 in #Montreal, an Ethiopian Eunich came to stay in the #missionaryguesthouse in Pickering, ON. We ate all low-carb food, drank a ton of good coffee, and did plenty of talking...and neither of us know any short sentences! Between high fat meals, we dropped a discussion about #churchplanting in Ethiopia and beyond in the podcatcher. My guest opens up about #gencon, #family, #fogmachines, #coffee, #apostles, #diapers, #traplesschurches, #northafrica, #bigladies, #ownership and world domination. Be careful when you listen - you may just find yourself inspired and moving to Africa to join his team as they continue planting coffee churches across the continent!
