God at Work: The Practice of Peace in an Unstable World - Rev. Donnell T. Wyche - a2vc.org. Like us on fb.com/vineyardannarboror watch our livestream Sundays @ 10:45am - vimeo.com/annarborvineyard Summary: In this powerful sermon, Pastor Donnell Wyche invites the community to consider what it means to be a peacemaker in a world marked by instability, injustice, and unpredictability. Rooted in Romans 12:18—“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone”—the message challenges simplistic or false notions of peace. Pastor Donnell reminds us that real peace is not about avoidance, politeness, or keeping quiet; it is an active, justice-rooted, and costly way of living that reflects God's heart for wholeness and dignity. Drawing on both scripture and lived experience, Pastor Donnell explores how peace requires posture, participation, and power-awareness. He names the pain of being misunderstood, dismissed, or gaslit, and affirms that some people or systems may not want peace at all. Even so, Christians are called to be people of peace, not doormats. Peace, he emphasizes, should never come at the expense of truth or dignity, and peacemaking may require letting go, speaking up, or even walking away from harmful situations. The sermon closes with practical wisdom for living peaceably: stay grounded in God's story, find beauty and stillness, engage scripture deeply, and lean into community. Even when efforts at peace seem to fail, God is present in the trying, the awkwardness, and the tears. God is at work in us and through us—right in the messy, faithful practice of peacemaking.

God at Work: When the World Feels Like It's Falling Apart - Rev. Donnell T. Wyche - a2vc.org. Like us on fb.com/vineyardannarboror watch our livestream Sundays @ 10:45am - vimeo.com/annarborvineyard Summary: In this first message of a new sermon series, Pastor Donnell Wyche invites us to wrestle with one of the most urgent questions of our time: Where is God in a world that feels like it's falling apart? In light of recent violence and tragedies, Pastor Donnell names what many of us feel—fear, anger, helplessness, and confusion—and draws us into the biblical tradition of asking hard questions. The people of God have long cried out, “How long, O Lord?” and “Where are you?” Pastor Donnell reminds us that these questions aren't signs of weak faith; rather, they are faithful expressions of grief, longing, and hope. Drawing on scripture—from Genesis to Psalms to the prophets—Pastor Donnell highlights a consistent truth: God hears the cries of the oppressed. God is not distant or indifferent. In fact, the biblical witness reveals a God who is deeply invested in humanity, who suffers alongside us, and who calls us to act with justice, mercy, and humility. While we may not always understand God's timing or ways, scripture and the lived experience of the faithful tell a story of a God who cares and who invites us to co-labor in the work of healing and justice. As the sermon closes, Pastor Donnell offers four practical invitations: to act courageously in small, just ways; to create contemplative space to be with God; to learn by immersing ourselves in scripture that shapes our moral imagination; and to commit to community, walking with others in faith. When the world is unstable, these practices anchor us in God's presence and call. Even in the darkness, we are not alone. God is near, and God is at work.

What happens when your past says you're disqualified—but God says you're not? In this week's episode of the Pathway Church Podcast, Pastor Brian talks with Jarrod—a husband, father, and leader—about his incredible journey from the streets to a transformed life in Christ. Jarrod grew up surrounded by crime, lost friends to gun violence, and spent over a decade selling drugs to support his young family. But through the quiet faith of his daughter and the persistence of a praying wife, God got Jarrod's attention—and changed everything. This powerful conversation explores what it means to walk away from the past, become a present father, and live unashamed of the Gospel. From street corners to baptism waters, Jarrod's story is raw, redemptive, and real. Don't miss this inspiring God-at-work story—because no one is too far gone. Grab your Bible, settle in, and let's walk this journey of faith side by side. You are loved—no doubt about it! TODAY'S DEVOTION: TODAY'S DEVOTION: God meets us in the midst of our struggle. Life brings with it many trials, sufferings, and disappointments, but the good news is that God is not distant from us in those places—he is right here, present, working within us even now. Paul reminds us in Philippians that “we are in this struggle together.” He writes of his own hardships, his imprisonment, and the difficulties that have come his way, not as marks of defeat, but as evidence that God is at work in all things. God is not done with us—he who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. That's the hope we're given: in the very midst of the chaos and trouble, God is shaping us, completing us, and drawing us close to him. Paul's confidence is that God's presence is active, transforming us from the inside out. Christ in us—the hope and the glory—brings change to our character and fills us with the fruit of salvation. It is here, in our ordinary pains and struggles, that God meets us, not just observing from afar, but walking alongside us and within us. This reality fills Paul with joy, and can fill us with the same joy, no matter what we face. So let us open ourselves to this abiding presence. Allow God's Spirit to meet you right where you are. Let his joy be your strength. Remember, even in the midst of it all, you are not alone—God is in you, working all things toward his good purpose. Let that truth produce joy and hope in you, and give thanks that you are loved and never abandoned by the One who is always with you. That's my prayer for myself. That's my prayer for my family, for my wife and my children, and that's my prayer for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Almighty and ever loving God, you have brought us to the light of a new morning. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit that we may walk this day in peace. Guard our steps from temptation, shield us from the weight of fear and shame, and lead us deeper into the joy of your presence through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. O Christ, light of the nations, Shine in every place where shadows dwell. Call the scattered home, heal the wounds of division and gather all people into the communion of your grace. May the knowledge of the Lord cover the earth as the waters cover the sea. Amen. And our Lord make my hands ready for mercy, make my eyes quick to see the hurting, my ears open to the cry of the lonely, and my feet swift to bring good news. Let me seek to bless, not to be noticed, to serve, not to be praised, to forgive, not to hold back. For in your way is life, in your mercy is healing, and in your love is the peace this world cannot give. Amen. And now, as our Lord has taught us, we are bold to pray: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. God At Work Is Life At Best by David Antwi
Saturday is review day on The Daily Promise. Every Saturday, we review the promises of the week so we can allow them to go deep into our hearts and lives. Here are the promises we covered this week. Colossians 1:13 – You are Part of the Kingdom of Light. 2 Peter 3:9 – God is Patient. 2 John 1:3 – Mercy, Grace, and Peace Are With You. John 4:23 – God Seeks True Worshippers. Philippians 2:13 - God is at Work in You.
Today's Promise: Philippians 2:13 The Christian life begins in the heart. God works in your heart to bring about His will and desire. So many Christians try to obey God on the outside without allowing God to change them on the inside. The Christian life is all about allowing the Holy Spirit to transform and empower your thinking so that your actions follow. You will find new strength and power to live the Christian life in victory and service to Christ as you allow God to transform and empower your heart.

When I was a teenager, I played on our church basketball team. Doyle was our center. Our arch-rival was an inner-city church. During the game, the center for the opposing team fouled out and blamed Doyle. When he walked to the bench, he pointed a finger at Doyle and said, “I'll be waiting for you in the parking lot.” He was a lot bigger than Doyle and the threat had Doyle shook up. After the game ended, our team decided we weren't going to let Doyle face the other guy alone. So, as we left the gym and walked out to the parking lot, we were one big group huddled up together with Doyle in the middle. As believers, the opposition we face isn't always as apparent as in this story, but it is real nonetheless. Every believer engages in some level of spiritual warfare against Satan and his schemes. Thankfully, we don't stand alone. God Himself stands with us whenever we face opposition. Contestant number 43,212 walked onto the stage to audition for Britain's Got Talent. She stood in sharp contrast to previous performers. Unkempt curly hair and a less than flattering dress suggested a frumpy housewife. Simon Cowell interviewed her briefly and her admission that she was 47 years old caused raised eyebrows and scattered laughter from the audience. Her awkward verbal responses added to the anticipation that her performance would be cut short quickly. Expectations hit rock bottom when she revealed the ambitious choice to sing “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables. But when contestant number 43,212 finished singing just the first phrase, “I dreamed a dream in time gone by” the audience had begun to cheer and applaud while each judge wore a look of amazement and disbelief. Her voice was beautiful and strong. She finished the song to a standing ovation, and Susan Boyle was on her way. Simon Cowell said later she was the textbook example of “never judge a book by its cover.” Sometimes God surprises us in the same way, working in ways and through people we might not expect. My call to the ministry came later in life. At 32 years of age, I was attending seminary full-time, working two part-time jobs, and my wife worked full-time. We were doing our best to take care of three small children and ourselves. Money was tight. A man from my home church knew of our financial stress and handed me a check for a large amount of money. Immediately my pride took over and I said, “Thanks but we'll get by.” After his insistence that I take the money, I refused again. In response, this man said something I've never forgotten. He said, “If you don't take this money, you'll take away the joy and blessing I have from giving it.” Initially I thought his statement was simply trying to convince me to take the money, but as I've grown in my walk with the Lord, I understand now what he meant. For believers there's a joy and blessing that comes as we let God work through us for the sake of others. Meeting the needs of others can reveal God's hand at work. Genesis 37 kicks off the story of Joseph, a narrative filled with betrayal, hardship, and divine purpose. Though Joseph is betrayed by his own brothers, thrown into a pit, and sold into slavery, we see that God never abandons him. This chapter highlights a dysfunctional family, unjust suffering, and God's sovereign hand working through it all. Joseph's story also serves as a powerful foreshadowing of Jesus—loved by the Father, hated by his own, betrayed, and yet ultimately raised up to The post Genesis 37 – God At Work In The Dark appeared first on Island Pond Baptist Church.

We need God's help, especially in times of uncertainty or distress. The question isn't, “Will God respond?” More often the question is, “Will we respond to God's help in faith and obedience?” The post ELISHA-SEEING THE HAND OF GOD AT WORK: God's Hand in Meeting Our Needs (YOU-Spr'25, Study 2, Session 2) appeared first on YOU.
I receive invitations on a regular basis. Not the big invitations such as, “The President and First Lady invite you to spend Christmas at the White House.” The invitations I receive are more mundane. This past week I received a number of invitations in the mail. The local car dealer invited me to look at their new inventory and maybe even spend thousands of dollars on a vehicle. I'll pass. I also received an invitation from the county to pay my property taxes in a timely fashion and avoid jail time. I might take them up on that one. One is God's invitation to join Him in His work, and the primary way He delivers the invitation is to reveal what He's doing. Elisha sets the example for how we should respond to God's call to join Him and serve. Pastor John reminds us God is working; God is always working. What we may miss is that He's working in you. Since the first time you asked for forgiveness until your last breath, the Lord's Spirit is at work in you. But before He fills us, He needs to empty us. Pastor John then instructs us that we need to understand how to grow.

If you want the flourishing, thriving life depicted in Psalm 112, you need to know the God of Psalm 111. They can't be separated. They are linked. These two psalms are each 10 verses. Psalm 111 describes the great God, and Psalm 112 describes a great, happy human life. If you know the unshakeable God of Psalm 111, you become unshakeable yourself. To truly know the God of Psalm 111 leads to the life seen in Psalm 112. Looking at Psalm 111 itself, we see a key link between knowing God and having a flourishing life. This psalm teaches about 1) a powerful, involved God, 2) a supernaturally changed life, and 3) the way to connect the power of God to your life.
