Lindsay McIntosh is Juilliard-trained historical oboist with an impressive resume in the music world. She has appeared under world-renowned conductors such as William Christi and Masaaki Suzuki. In 2013, while completing her graduate studies at Juilliard, she founded New Vintage Baroque, an innovative period instrument ensemble dedicated to performing 21st-century repertoire on historical instruments. The ensemble received critical acclaim for its imaginative, cross-temporal programming and vibrant energy – hallmarks of Lindsay's creative leadership. As artistic and executive director of NVB, McIntosh self-produced 25 distinct programs, fundraised more than $100,000, cultivated the organization's board of directors, commissioned and performed 17 world premieres, collaborated in three opera productions, recorded and released an album of original works on the VIA label and performed in over 75 performances in the U.S. and abroad.Recognizing her professional strengths beyond that of a freelance oboist, in 2015 McIntosh joined the founding team of National Sawdust, a new, critically acclaimed music venue and non-profit arts Institute located in Brooklyn. There, Lindsay worked on the artistic team creating, implementing, producing and tracking projects at the core of the venue's mission, including ten group residencies and fourteen opera productions. In what was a surprise to many, Summer McIntosh, the best female swimmer in the world currently, decided to spend the majority of her 2025 season in Antibes, France. After training with storied coach Fred Vergnoux at a 3-week altitude camp, McIntosh decided to spend the rest of her preparation for Singapore in the south of France with Fred as well. This resulted in the Canadian super star winning 4 gold medals and 1 bronze in Singapore. Vergnoux, known for guiding Mireia Belmonte to Spain's first-ever Olympic gold medal in swimming at the 2016 Rio Games, discusses at length what the first half of 2025 looked like for his teenage pupil. He also shed light on what makes Summer as great as she is and why she's been able to enjoy all of the international success she has had in her relatively short career so far.

If you don’t already know who Brooke McIntosh is, you absolutely should! Brooke is running 14,000 km - solo around Australia; that’s between 60 and 100km a day, every day for 200 days, all with the ambition of raising $1.4 million for the Blue Tree Project’s mental health initiative. Brooke is doing this run without corporate sponsorship or media hype, just grit, purpose, and a small caravan crew. There’s a bit of a gender discrepancy here because it’s likely you might not have heard of Brooke, despite her surpassing some other guys who did similar running challenges that got a lot of media attention. Today we wanted to get a bit of an understanding of what Brooke is actually experiencing on the road: running through PMS cramps, worrying about creeps and safety, and dealing with online trolls all while staying committed every kilometre of the way.
