For some, slowing down our thoughts and being ‘present' can be hard especially in our busy lives. As Humans have evolved we've become chaotic and our minds can be quite noisy and cluttered. One method is to take a ‘time-out' of our hectic schedules by sensory deprivation in the form of an hour session in a floatation tank. Aisha's guest in this episode is Dominic Berry from the Floatworks in Angel, who describes it as “mediation with stabilizers” as he discusses the many health benefits of this method of mindfulness and how it can improve our mental wellbeing as well as many physical symptoms. This series is sponsored by Arima CBD oils which many people have found helpful in alleviating the symptoms of physical pain & anxiety. On this episode I am joined by co-host William Brown as we dive into the world of Floating with Co founder of Floatworks Chris Plowman. Floatation therapy is the practice of lying back in one of our world-leading floatation tanks and experiencing a blissful, healing state. How floating works:The water in each pod contains half a tonne of Epsom salt, allowing you to float effortlessly. It matches the temperature of your skin and the air, giving you the feeling of complete weightlessness. It’s usually pitch black and silent in the pod too, unless you wish to have relaxing music, or the light on.Free from sensory input, the muscular-skeletal system and sympathetic nervous system wind down into a state of deep relaxation and serenity, in which your body and mind can heal and replenish - resulting in many benefits, like reduced stress and better sleep.A float lasts for 1 hour, with 10 minutes of ambient music at the beginning to help you relax – or longer if you request it. You have full control of opening and closing the pod, and of the light inside it. Music starts again to signal 5 minutes before the end of your float.Chris is the co-founder of the new Floatworks based in London. He’s a trained Breathwork practioner. When he’s not breathing deeply he’s usually in downward dog. Chris is mainly found at the float centres perfecting the Floatworks experience and laying a strategy for Floatworks future.William is close friend, Personal trainer, Visionary and co founder of the Active Vegans who has been residing in Australia over the past year. RunDisney’s Virtual Race Series celebrates 80 years of Marvel this summer, and we decided to make it a “not-so-virtual” 5K for the July Ironman medal! That meant the chance to fuel up for the 5K at a Walt Disney World Resort.  We chose to get breakfast at Port Orleans French Quarter.  Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory has breakfast options that are unique to the Port Orleans resort and celebrate New Orleans right.  We had the Shrimp and Grits with poached eggs and the Mickey-shaped Beignets with Chicory Coffee Ganache.  Plus we had the Chicory Coffee to go with these fantastic breakfast picks.  We can’t wait to get back there! Where at Walt Disney World should we complete our last virtual 5K in August? Then where should we explore and indulge?  Let us know!  Our email is info@runeatdrink.net. Or you can call at 941- 677-2733.   THAT’S A WRAP Want to reach us with a tip, trick, or recommendations?  Our email is info@runeatdrink.net. One of the perks of podcasting, is that I get to meet some incredible people.  On this episode, we speak with one of the co-founders of the Floatworks centre in Vauxhall.  This is the leading place to go for all things sensory deprivation, and with plans to add more float centres in central London, Ed is leading the charge in this ever growing industry. If you haven't heard about this already, the concept is simple.  You hire out a pod for an hour or so and float in salt water.  The unique factor is that all senses are quietened.  You are in complete darkness, with no sound, or any other distractions.  We discuss both the physical and mental benefits that can be gained from regular sessions, and why so many people, including top level athletes are now doing this.  This is the second podcast with Ed and the 4th on the benefits of floating.  One of the reasons for this is the parallels it has with meditation. Furthermore, the floatation tank is the perfect environment to meditate as you have no other distractions than your thoughts.  For me, this is a very special and spiritual place and an exited to see the world opening up to it.

WDW Radio # 466 - Live Review of the New Sassagoula Floatworks Breakfast Two of the many things I love are New Orleans and food, and when you combine those TWO into a newly-updated dining experience in Walt Disney World, it's like hearing a Siren’s Song, so I had to go see (and taste) for myself. This past weekend, the Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory reopened after a long refurbishment at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort. So this week, I invite you to join me around the table as we sample, share, and review breakfast in NOLA, right in Walt Disney World.
