Libby Lux from Portland based Bridge City Sinners gets down to talk about their recent tour with the The Goddamn Gallows and their recent appearance at Muddy Roots Fest. We talk a ton of shit and Libby regales us with a bunch of crazy ass stories from this tour, including right wing nuts getting the shit literally kicked out of them, and a flaming biker coming to their show in Virginia. We also talk about the challenges of being a female musician, and how we all can do better to respect the space and talent of the incredible women in our scene. PLUS we listen to tunes from The Bridge City Sinners, Rum Rebellion, Ground Score, Escape from the Zoo and Cop/Out.
Homeless people often pick up cans and bottles to make some money off of the deposits they get for returning them to a grocery store. Now, a new program called Ground Score is paying them to do this work cleaning up after outdoor events and keeping trash off the beaches along the Willamette River in Portland. We hear from Taylor Cass Talbott, development coordinator for Ground Score and Christine Alix, who gets paid by the program to pick up and sort trash.
Is it okay to eat a street banana? Why are dentures so damn sexy? These questions are too big for us, so we brought in our friend and new guest Dylan Lee to lend a hand. Don’t worry, there’s also find a rat cloner, a hamster taxidermist, and a dude named Jake who just wants a ride.Huge thank you to our early supporters on Patreon. Robert Rios, owner of Irican Productions and member of Faithless Saints, Sorry Not Sorry, and Ground Score, joins Black Bulb Podcast this week to discuss his start and his passion for music. It all started after he graduated from Expression College for Digital Arts in Emeryville, CA, and realized he could not afford to live in the Bay Area anymore. With connections, he decided to move up to Portland, OR, in 2008 and has since been a part of the music scene. Robert started doing recordings for bands for free or cheap for the first few years until it became a full-fledged studio as we know it today. Tune in to hear more about recording mishaps, how he prefers not to master the album after recording, and trying to make a living off music.Sorry Not Sorry: https://www.facebook.com/sorrynotsorrypdx/Ground Score: https://www.facebook.com/groundscorepdx/Faithless Saints: https://www.facebook.com/faithlesssaints/
