This week we're joined by writer/director Ian Tuason, whose new A24 horror film Undertone is creeping into theaters March 13. The film plays with a deceptively simple question: what if the scariest thing in a movie isn't what you see… but what you hear later? We talk with Ian about building tension through sound, the eerie psychology of playback and EVP recordings, and why something as innocent as a children's song can suddenly feel sinister when it's heard through fresh ears. He also tells us about filming the movie in his own childhood home, the challenge of creating tension with minimal visuals, and the trust it takes to let actors experiment when they're carrying so much of the film. Plus, we get into what excites him about stepping into the world of Paranormal Activity next. And of course, Ian builds his Spook'em Scare'em Starter Kit. Headphones recommended... COME HANG OUT!!! Grab your blood cakes and head to Mother Malkin's pit! We're reading Revenge of the Witch by Joseph Delaney. As the seventh son of a seventh son, Tom is destined to become the Spook's apprentice (at least according to his mom). He learns to trap boggarts under steel (just don't get your fingers stuck!!) and imprison witches in barred pits - and makes friends like Alice, a girl with suspiciously pointy shoes, along the way. Grim, gross and fascinating, this is an apprenticeship like no other and we have so much to discuss. We are all witches, but are we good witches or bad witches? The Spook recommends putting us into pits just as a precaution. Lee is joined this week by friends and fellow podcasters Matt and Vaughn to cover a film unfairly slotted into the Blaxploitation genre, and a film that was pressured out of the theatres by the FBI, and thought lost for years: Ivan Dixon's "The Spook Who Sat by the Door" (1973), based on the controversial 1969 novel of the same name by Sam Greenlee. The three white as snow hosts have a pretty good conversation about a very black film, that's politically far deeper and more angry than most other black films of the era. The hosts also talk about what they've watched as of late. Join the Cobras with us, and lets take down the white establishment! We're starting 2026 the Mostly Horror way!! Talking horror with friends and arguing about what scared us the most. For our first episode of the new year, we're joined once again by Mike Scollins, writer for Late Night with Seth Meyers and a longtime friend of the show. Mike's been on with us plenty of times before, from general horror hangouts, to breaking down Scream 6, to helping us celebrate past Spook'em Scare'em Awards, and now he's back to do it again. This isn't a traditional awards show. There's no voting, no winners, and no attempt at consensus. It's just us looking back at the horror movies of 2025 and calling out what really stuck with us. The best deaths, the scariest moments, the most memorable monsters, standout international horror, and more. We don't always agree, and that's kind of the point. If you're catching up on what horror delivered in 2025, or you just want to hear three people who love the genre dig into what worked and what didn't, then this one's for you.So HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Make some of your resolutions to tell a friend about the show, watch more horror, and…COME HANG OUT!!! PREVIEW — Mary Anastasia O'Grady — Lingering Capital Controls Spook Investors in Argentina. O'Grady reports that despite President Milei's substantial deregulation initiatives, lingering Argentine capital control mechanisms continue systematically deterring foreign investors who harbor justified fears regarding restrictions on capital extraction and currency repatriation. O'Grady documents that previous Argentine administrations implemented draconian capital restrictions, deploying customs enforcement mechanisms including canine detection units on Uruguayan river ferries to prevent illegal capital flight. O'Grady emphasizes that investor communities remain chronically cautious regarding potential reimposition of capital controls by future political administrations, creating structural investor hesitation despite Milei's demonstrated commitment to economic liberalization and market-based reforms. 1950 TANGO IN BUENOS AIRES
Have you ever found yourself driving down a backroad, dreaming of buying a piece of land to call your own? In this episode, we sit down with legendary whitetail hunter and real estate developer, Spook Spann. While many know Spook for harvesting world-class deer, his background in real estate development—from subdivisions to commercial strip centers—is equally impressive.Spook shares his journey from a sawmill family to closing massive commercial deals (like turning an abandoned Walmart into a thriving Applebee's) and managing recreational properties for maximum value. We discuss why land is the number one investment on the planet, how to manage timber for profit and habitat, and why the "experiential return" of land often outweighs the spreadsheet numbers. Whether you are looking for your first 40 acres or your next commercial deal, Spook's philosophy on taking risks and "going for it" is a masterclass in building true wealth. To keep up with Spook Check out his Youtube, 11th Commandment Website, IG and FacebookTo Learn more about the 3 day event starting on 12/11/25 email chad@truewealthinvestors.comConnect with Chad on LinkedInFollow Chad on InstagramFollow Chad on YouTubeFollow True Wealth on FacebookBe sure to leave a rating & review to let us know how this show has helped YOU!Visit our website at www.TrueWealthInvestors.com for more real estate wisdom and resources.
Send us a textIn this episode of the Serious Angler Podcast, we sit down with Brian Latimer to break down power-finesse fishing for cold water bass, why he never changes his finesse approach even in winter, how to catch shallow bass in the cold months, and the bait cues he relies on when water temps drop. Brian explains late-fall and winter bass behavior, his swim jig + finesse worm confidence, and how to trigger lethargic fish in cold water without going ultra-finesse.We're also joined by Tripp Berlinsky, winner of the Bassmaster College Bracket and now headed to the 2025 Bassmaster Classic. Trip talks about confidence as a young angler, breaking into professional bass fishing, who he is as a fisherman, and drops some juice on throwing a big topwater Spook even in tough conditions.
In the final episode of Old Spook Lane Creepy Chats of 2025 covering spooky stop motion animated films, Arun and Patricia discuss about the 2022 Netflix animated film Wendell & Wild directed by Henry Selleck and co-written by Selleck and Jordan Peele. A teenage juvenile delinquent named Kat Elliot returns to her hometown Rust Bank to a private Catholic school. Her parents had died in a car accident 5 years prior and she still carries the guilt that she was responsible for it. Meanwhile, two demon brothers named Wendell and Wild wish to start their own theme park after being punished to care for their father's hair. When they learn that the hair cream can raise people from the dead, they see a vision of Kat and believe they can convince her to make their dream a reality. Kat wishes to use them to get her parents resurrected using the same hair cream. When the film premiered on Netflix, it was given decent reviews by critics for its animation, characters, and atmosphere, but was criticized for the story being too overstuffed and convoluted. It was also overshadowed by other stop motion animated films that were released that year such as The House, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, and Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio. What did Arun and Patricia think of this film?
Continuing Old Spook Lane Creepy Chats' theme of spooky stop motion animated films, Arun and Patricia discuss about the 2012 Disney animated film Frankenweenie co-written and directed by Tim Burton. Based on the 1984 short film of the same name, a young boy named Victor Frankenstein is devastated that his best friend, a dog named Sparky, was killed by a car. When learning about electrical impulses from science class, Victor decides to conduct an experiment bringing Sparky back from the dead. While succeeding, he has to keep it hidden from his family, neighbors, and classmates. But it won't be easy, especially one classmate who wishes to use the same tactic to raise his pet fish from the dead to win the school science fair. When the film premiered in theaters, it made $81 million dollars out of a $31 million dollar budget receiving decent reviews from critics and fans, but has since been forgotten due to other animated films like Wreck-it-Ralph and Paranorman being released in the same year. What did Arun and Patricia think of the film?
Trick or Treating Spook by Addy by 826 Valencia
In this episode of Old Spook Lane Creepy Chats, Arun and Patricia discuss about the 2012 stop motion animated film Paranorman. A young boy named Norman Babcock is ostracized from everyone in his small Massachusetts town because he's able to see and speak to the dead. His uncle informs him that every year, a witch places a curse on the town and it's up to him to read from a book to subside it for another year. But trouble strikes when zombies rise from the dead and the witch's curse becomes more and more powerful. Norman then realizes that to get rid of the witch's curse, it involves more than what was done for 300 years to keep her at bay. When the film premiered in theaters, it made $107 million dollars out of a $60 million dollar budget. It received critical acclaim from critics and viewers for its story, animation, atmosphere, and social commentary. What did Arun and Patricia think of the film?
Old Spook Lane Creepy Chats is back with its 4th year covering spooky stop motion animated films. Arun and Patricia start off with the 2009 Laika animated film Coraline based on the book by Neil Gaiman. A young teenage girl named Coraline Jones and her parents move into a new house in Oregon. Her parents are catalog writers for plants, flowers, and gardening and are too busy to give Coraline any attention. When she discovers a hidden door by the living room, she discovers another world where she meets with doppelgangers of her parents, neighbors, and home where everything is colorful, bright, and receiving attention and love from her Other Mother and Other Father. But then a cat tells her that things are not what they seem and Coraline doesn't listen to him at first, but notices things go wrong when her parents go missing. When the film premiered in theaters, it was critically and commercially successful making $185 million dollars out of a $60 million dollar budget praising the story, characters, atmosphere, and animation. It was the film that put Laika on the map for releasing high quality stop motion animated films. How well does it hold up over 15 years later?

All throughout October, we pick monsters from myth and media and speculate how they – or something like them – could evolve here on Earth, pulling inspiration from real-world species across our planet's history. This year's theme is Monsters of Nintendo! This episode, we take a trip to the Kingdom of Hyrule. How might nature develop an octopus-like monster with a penchant for projectiles? Our creatures to create this time: Ocotoroks. From the clanging of barred doors to the whispers of those who were silenced by cruel treatments, these facilities were meant to heal — but very often harmed, tortured, and killed instead. In this episode, we explore haunted wards, ghostly sightings, and the horrifying realities behind the stories - including lobotomies, electroshock, human experimentation, restraint, and neglect.
