EVACUATIONS UNDERWAY IN KIEV AS RUSSIA STRIKES CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE SERVING THE CITY.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Ukraine: Overnight, major strikes were reported throughout the country, as Russian forces conduct large-scale missile strikes on multiple fronts. Russia conducted an Oreshnik IRBM strike on the Bilche-Volytsko-Uherske Natural Gas storage facility in western Ukraine. Large-scale drone strikes were also reported throughout Kiev, which damaged infrastructure including the city's water supply.Analyst Comment: These strikes were the largest to hit Ukraine during the war so far. At the moment, battle damage reports have not been made public, however the use of an Oreshnik (which has only been used once so far during this war) would have undoubtedly crippled the gas storage facility, which serves most of Ukraine, including Kiev. The mayor of Kiev has urged citizens to evacuate, due to the inability for utility services to provide heating for most of the city.Caribbean: This morning the United States seized another oil tanker attempting to flee Venezuela. The M/T *OLINA* was seized off the coast of Trinidad, as part of the widening operation to target Ghost Fleet vessels smuggling oil out of Venezuela. This brings the total number to 5x tankers seized so far.-HomeFront-Oregon: Yesterday evening, a state of civil unrest broke out after a shooting was reported involving Customs and Border Patrol. CBP agents conducted a traffic stop of a known TdA member and his wife on Southeast Main Street, in the vicinity of the Adventist Health campus. During the traffic stop, the TdA member attempted to ram officers with his vehicle, prompting the shooting. From there, the suspects egressed from the area to the east, where they were found by Portland PD officers on East Burnside St. with gunshot wounds. In the hours after the shooting, riots broke out throughout the city, and carried on throughout the night.Utah: Yesterday evening an ambush was reported in Ogden, which originated from a domestic dispute. Local authorities initially responded to reports of shots fired at a single-family residential home on E 5800 South, in a subdivision south of the intersection of Hwy 89 and Crestwood Dr. When authorities arrived, the suspect began firing at police by engaging them from within the home with small arms. A barricaded-shooter situation developed, and after a few hours the suspect was detained by SWAT and identified as James Joseph Rios.Concerning casualties, 2x neighbors were wounded by the shooter, during the initial engagement that prompted the police response.Analyst Comment: What initially prompted this incident is unclear; at the moment it looks like Rios simply decided to start shooting at his neighbors either randomly, or due to a mental health incident. However, the investigation is still underway, so more details may come to light over the next few days.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: In Minneapolis, the situation is deteriorating on multiple fronts. Following the ICE-involved shooting a few days ago, ANTIFA forces have moved into the area to establish an "Autonomous Grieving Zone" at the site of the shooting involving Renee Good. Portland Avenue from E 34th Street to 33rd Street was blocked, with barricade obstacles preventing people from freely migrating through the area. Early this morning, locals reported that police moved in to clear the obstructions from the street, however a significant agitator presence remains throughout the area.Around the city, atmospherics aren't great: rioters continue to cause civil unrest, and open and clear threats to federal agents have become routine. Mas, muitas vezes, sentimos uma necessidade de se distanciar da família para compreender e descobrir o que de fato é importante para nós e nos diferencia. Pensar e repensar as escolhas feitas até o momento e visualizar qual caminho é escolhido quando a gente não se orienta pelo que é valorizado ou permitido pela família. E o final de ano costuma ser esse período para muitas pessoas, justamente quando a reunião familiar soa quase obrigatória em muitos casos. É importante rever os pactos que nossa família e até gerações anteriores a nossa fizeram e compreender o que influencia nossa história e nos impede de termos mais satisfação com a nossa existência. The San Diego native, and graduate of the University of San Diego, is the director of the U.S.-Mexico Border Program for the American Friends Service Committee. He is also an op-ed contributor to the online publication, Cal Matters. The two of them talk about how the root causes of the flow of immigrants into the United States, whether ICE should be defunded, and whether the left went too far in accommodating the undocumented -- and thus enabled the right. They also talk about why racism controls the Republican Party, how profoundly the Democratic Party failed Latinos, and what a real immigration solution would look like.

Co-Creating Care: Lessons from the Stage (EP:44) With Marco Antonio de Carvalho Filho, MD, PHD If medical education is meant to prepare people for the emotional realities of patient care, what might change if we taught students not only to do the work, but to fully inhabit the person they are becoming while doing it? Join host Stacy Craft, and guest Professor Dr. Carvalho Filho, as we explore an unexpected but deeply powerful intersection: the meeting of theater and medical education. Dr. Marco shares how the traditions of the stage, presence, imagination, emotional awareness, and co-creation, offer transformative possibilities for how we train future clinicians. Through stories of working with actors, facilitating embodied learning, and creating safe spaces for vulnerability, he reveals how theater can move education beyond checklists and simulations into something far more human. We discuss why presence matters more than prescribed communication “skills,” how students can reclaim their identities while learning to care for others, and why cultivating joy, curiosity, and emotional resilience may be essential to the health of both clinicians and the profession itself. Um motorista do 474, conhecido como linha do inferno no Rio de Janeiro, contou a Gabriel Weber que se, se a previsão do fim de semana é de sol, ele começa a "meter Alprazolam", um ansiolítico, já na quinta-feira. O arquiteto é autor de "474 Jacaré/Copacabana". O livro, a partir de um olhar de dentro do 474, busca entender o Rio de Janeiro e suas desigualdades. O ônibus liga o que ele chama de bairros-cativeiro da massa falida da zona norte a uma zona sul com um microclima mais ameno, que abriga as praias das pessoas de bem e onde toca João Gilberto. O túnel que liga os dois Rios, Weber diz, é como um portal místico —e depois de cruzá-lo, com jovens surfando em cima do ônibus e viajando nas janelas, o ônibus provoca um Big Bang na zona sul e se torna alvo da polícia. Para ele, por outro lado, esse corte que marca a urbanização carioca não gera uma cidade partida e o próprio 474 é um dos vetores que costuram os vários fragmentos do Rio de Janeiro. Nesta entrevista, o arquiteto afirma que não ignora os problemas de segurança relacionados à linha, mas defende que é preciso lembrar as condições de vida dos moradores dos bairros precários da zona norte e a elite segregacionista da zona sul, que vê as praias como espaços de uso exclusivo. Weber também discutiu as questões de gênero e racial que se manifestam no 474 e contou algumas histórias que presenciou, como um homem que desrespeitou o código de ética da linha roubando uma moradora da zona norte e acabou empurrado para fora do ônibus.
