From the desk of Pete: Summertime tent-pole movies were a staple of the 90s and few films were more tent-poling than Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Robin Hood didn't start the trend but rather it defined what a summer blockbuster should be: hire a star-studded cast, dress them all in incredible costuming, film in stunning set locations, don't write an overcomplicated script, and pepper in enough humor so as not to take yourself too seriously. This movie was so much in the public zeitgeist that kids were playing Merry Men and Sheriffs instead of Cops and Robbers... well maybe not but I like to think so. Grab your kids and a big bowl of popcorn, this one should be on the watchlist.

They stopped an armed robbery, held a suspect for police, and protected their coworkers — then got fired for it. Kim St. Onge uncovers the infuriating story of two St. Louis Starbucks employees who fought back against armed robbers at a campus-area location in December 2023, only to be terminated for violating company policy. Surveillance video just surfaced after years of litigation, and the details will make your blood boil. These workers were pistol-whipped, attacked, and staring down what they believed were loaded guns — and Starbucks said they should have just complied. The lawsuit is back in St. Louis circuit court and the outcome could send a massive message to corporate America about whose side they're really on. When companies value liability over the lives of the people who work for them, something has gone deeply wrong in this country. You need to hear every detail of this one. Ro Khanna says tax Elon Musk and the billionaires. But what happens when the "wealth tax" becomes government ownership? In this Good Morning Liberty episode, Nate and Chuck break down socialism's rise inside Democratic politics, the "fair share" tax argument, Ro Khanna's fight with Elon Musk, USAID cuts, DOGE, student loan debt, and why wealth taxes sound simple until you look at how assets actually work. They also explain the difference between free market capitalism and the crony capitalism Americans are angry about, why politicians never use new taxes to lower the deficit, and how "just pay with shares" turns into the government owning pieces of private companies. "It is no secret that music contracts can be rather brutal on artists. On April 21, 1976, six bandits raided the Victoria Club where Melbourne’s biggest bookies were settling their accounts with cash. Atiende a mis palabras, hijo mío; préstales atención. Just after midnight on May 12, 2006, a man woke up in his quiet London suburb to the sound of pounding on his front door. He answered it and found his neighbor standing outside, looking shocked. The neighbor said something had happened to the man's sister. The man immediately ran down the street, towards his sister's house. He was afraid of what he'd find, because he was always warning her to be more careful, but she never listened. And when he arrived, he found a trail of blood running down his sister's driveway. On the afternoon of August 23, 2003, Erie, Pennsylvania pizza delivery driver Brian Wells walked into the local branch of the PNC Bank and handed the teller a note warning that he had a bomb and they had fifteen minutes to hand over $250,000 or it would detonate. Unable to access the vault, the teller gave Wells all the cash on hand and he left as the employees triggered the emergency protocol.Fifteen minutes later, Wells was spotted by police and placed under arrest. However, when they went to put handcuffs on the suspects, the officers discovered that Wells did indeed have an explosive device on him—it was strapped to his neck and rigged to explode. Officers cleared the area, but failed to alert the bomb squad in time and the device eventually exploded, killing Wells just three minutes before the bomb squad arrived. The bizarre death of Brian Wells seemed to bring his brief criminal career to an end; yet as investigators began digging into the background of the delivery driver-turned-bank robber, they discovered the plot to rob the PNC Bank was far more elaborate than anyone had imagined.
