On this episode of the Sabol Brothers on Baseline, John and Scott are joined by their father, Rich! This is a special Father's Day podcast recorded on location at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. Rich reminisces the days of coaching the John and Scott in baseball, he also explains how baseball has a deep and rich history within the Sabol family dating back to the 1940s when Rich's father was an usher at Cleveland Municipal Stadium. Rich also  tells a story (that will make you cringe!) about what happened to his father's 1948 Indians World Series championship team-signed baseball!    Plus, the Sabol guys recap their trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame and open four sealed packs of baseball cards from the late 1980s with the gum still intact. John takes the plunge of trying to chew a 30+ year old stick of gum! Get ready to hear the crunch! Enjoy these stories of a father and his sons talking about a game they love and how it brought them close.     Follow us on Twitter: Podcast: @SabolBrothers John: @John_Sabol Scott: @ScottSabolFox8   The Press Play Podcast Network Follow us on Twitter: @PressPlayPods For sponsorship plans and more information, please email admin@pressplaypodcasts.com Visit our website at www.pressplaypodcasts.com

Joe Rizzo brings you baseball. Where it seems there is none, he's taking the Strat-O-Matic simulation of the 2020 MLB season as seriously as if it's happening in real life. If you're tired of hearing of Coronavirus and COVID-19, then this is your solace for about a half hour (sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less) a day. Riz, who has brought you an episode every single day since the season started, gave you the scores and highlights from a full Sunday slate of baseball, and went in-depth into the standings. Could the Padres possibly play the Indians in the World Series in 2020? Well, that might be worth a futures bet if you give any credence to how Strat handled the first 16th of the simulated season. So close your eyes, drift away, and let yourself imagine there is BASEBALL. The American League is stacked and the Cleveland Indians have as much of a chance to reach the World Series as any other AL team. That's the opinion of Yahoo Sports national baseball writer Jeff Passan, a Solon High grad, who joined Takes By The Lake this week. Jeff and Doug Lesmerises talked about his life growing up as the son of a Plain Dealer journalist, and how being a Cleveland sports fan shaped him. And then we dug in on the Indians. We compared this Indians team to the Indians teams of the 1990s. We compared them to the Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros, the three best teams in the American League. We talked about how long the Indians have to stay at this peak. We also talked about Trevor Bauer in the bullpen in the postseason. Few have a greater knowledge of the full baseball scene than Passan, who last year published a book called "The Arm," that went inside the most valuable commodity in baseball. If you care about the Indians at all, this podcast is for you. Next week, we'll get back to the Browns with a full season preview. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
