Finn discusses whether Urban Meyer will return to broadcasting and whether he remains hirable; what he thought of the news of Rosenthal; the Week 18 schedule in the NFL; why the Cowboys remain a national team; the upcoming Beijing Olympics and why we think it is going to be the least-watched ever; and more. 2021 was an eventful year in Sport Law. This episode dives into the best sports law stories Conduct Detrimental covered. We start with some honorable mentions (3:57) being the Super League formation and deterioration; the current MLB Lockout and CBA negotiations; Bishop Sycamore making it onto national television as a scam; Kyle Beach's career ruined by the inaction of the Chicago Blackhawks by covering up his sexual assault; and Henry Ruggs terrible drunken mistake that caused a loss of life and his potential imprisonment. Top Ten Stories: 10) Evander Kane (16:03) has had a lot of run-ins in the sports law sphere this year, with allegations of gambling/throwing games, throughout his messy divorce. 9) Florida Sports Betting (20:47) was predicted by the Sports Gambling Guru himself, Dan Wallach, for being in violation of Federal Law. 8) Trevor Bauer (23:35) signed a massive contract with the Dodgers and didn't play for most of 2021 and the foreseeable future, and in similar fashion to Deshaun Watson. 7) Urban Meyer (25:54) was fired for cause by the Jacksonville Jaguars, and we analyzed whether or not it actually was for cause. 6) Washington Football Team and Jon Gruden (30:54) as a result of NFL's investigation into the terrible team culture created by Dan Snyder at WFT, and Jon Gruden's emails being the cause of his firing as HC of the Raiders. Also, will the final WFT investigation report be released, or any of the 650,000 emails? 5) Deshaun Watson (37:01) for a good majority of 2021 has been dealing with off-field legal battles as a result of 22 women accusing him of numerous lewd sexual acts. There still haven't been any criminal charges filed. 4) NCAA v. Alston (39:19) created a spark for the name, image and likeness movement as the NCAA opened the door for athletes to receive extra-permissible benefits. 3) NIL (39:19) began on July 1, 2021 and we entered the Wild, Wild West. Numerous players have struck NIL deals and because there is no guidance from the NCAA nor federal legislation, we have begun to see deals that toe the line of pay-for-play. 2) Cleveland Guardians (50:00) was a story that Dan Lust noticed right from the start, and we brought to life. The Cleveland Baseball Team was bested by the Cleveland Guardians roller derby team, and even after the settlement, the roller derby team still owns the website and social media handle. 1) St. Louis Rams Relocation Lawsuit (56:23) was easily our #1 story of 2021. Although one of our most recent, Dan Wallach's legal analysis brought this lawsuit to the national spotlight. The possibilities of an expansion team and very high damages hung in the balance as the case almost went to trial in 2022. However, the city of St. Louis received their $790 million settlement. Thank you all for an amazing 2021 journey and we look forward to what 2022 has in store for all of us in the world of Sports Law. *** Have a topic you want to write about? ETT entering your ear canal on a Monday is nothing new. This Monday is no exception. We're back with the nonsense that includes a progression from the intrigue the name Davonte brings Evan, to then speaking on an old western film with a character named Cadillac Jack, then moving into how drippy people got on the dirt roads back before it was paved, and finally ending it off with a gentle reminder to let your manhood breath a lil bit. Big shouts to the XYXX pod on their first event. We appreciate you for the invite and can't wait to see what's up next. ETT x XYXX Part 2?!Jumping into the main event here! We start with the Trevor Bauer and fade into the Mets. Manager search along with placement of key signings from them so far this offseason. Then we decide to take a dive into the two most ridiculous college football coaching contracts right now. Money, houses, private jets, and football. Song: Don't Try It by Larry June ft Cardo

Today's word of the day is ‘Chuck Norris' as in Walker, Texas Ranger as in the Texas Rangers now have the most expensive middle infield in the history of baseball. That's right. Corey Seager, 10-year, $325M… Marcus Semien, 7-year, $175M. Holy! The team just opened up a new stadium last season, but now they're spending like they want fans there. The Tigers gave $140M to Javy Baez. Teams are spending spending spending! Being afraid of the lockout have caused a craze in the market from ownership like we've never seen before. (11:55) Robbie Ray is headed to the Seattle Mariners. The Toronto Blue Jays replaced him with Kevin Gausman. Why would the Blue Jays want this swap? Was this Toronto telling us something? (16:30) Yankees fans are FURIOUS with Brian Cashman right now. The team has yet to pay big money for a free agent yet. Why not? Is it a smart business move? Is it fear of the market? (18:50) The negotiations are ongoing. The deadline is tomorrow night. What are they arguing about? Is there going to be a joint lockout announcement? Do the players get paid? Do they get an extra year on their deal? (30:20) Review: True Story. (33:20) Tiger Woods has returned to the camera life. He spoke openly for the first time since his February accident. Let's discuss what he said. (37:40) NPPOD. (39:20) Marcell Ozuna only gets a retroactive 20-game suspension for domestic abuse. Ridiculous. Rob Manfred can now use this for when Trevor Bauer's time comes up. Extremely disappointing. (42:50) MLB expanded playoffs are the new talking points. It leaked yesterday that this crazy idea of teams picking opponents and more teams making and so on. What is happening here? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin' Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space. This week, we begin by discussing the debacle that is the Mets' front office search and how it is becoming increasingly clear that it is not “the pressures of New York” that are deterring candidates, but rather the New York Mets. We also talk about Zack Scott's dismissal and the latest that has come out about the circumstances surrounding his firing. We also pay tribute to the late Pedro Feliciano in the aftermath of his sudden passing. Next, we talk about a report from Business Insider that details sexual misconduct by Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy and discuss the toxic culture built by Barstool that continues to uphold men like Portnoy and Trevor Bauer. We also discuss MLB's requirement that teams cover housing for minor leaguers starting in 2022—a victory for minor league players and their advocates, but something that should be the beginning of change, and not the end. ESPN MLB Analyst and Writer Tim Kurkjian joined OverDrive earlier today following the Jays victory over Tampa Bay last night. He touched on that, Vlad Jr's MVP chase, which pitcher takes the mound for the Jays in a Wildcard Game & whether we ever see Trevor Bauer take the mound for MLB again.
We talk Yankees and Mets' 9/11 ceremony and game, the series finale and the whistling controversy, why it's being labeled as “cheating,” Max Scherzer collecting his 3,000 strikeout in one of his best career performances, how it's still weird seeing him in a Dodger jersey (and speculating about how he truly feels about being a part of a juggernaut team), the Brewers combining for a no-hitter and why this was the last thing people who are already tired of no-hitters this year needed to see, a check-in on the Triple Crown race for Vladdy Jr., the announcement that Trevor Bauer won't be pitching for the remainder of 2021 and much more! Enjoy! MERCH: the30takepod.com/store
