Website: www.ilborro.it Instagram: salvatore_ferragamo_jr ilborro    BACK STORY The Italian Association of Arizona is thrilled to announce its 10th annual Italian Festival at Old Town Scottsdale Waterfront, where attendees can experience Italy in the Valley on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The two-day festival will bring back its theme “La Strada del Vino”, translated directly as the street of wine, offering visitors new opportunities to experience Italian cuisine, wine, live entertainment and a special Italian guest star in honor of the festival's 10th anniversary. “We are pleased to welcome fashion leader and wine owner Salvatore Ferragamo Jr. to the festival,” said Italian Association of Arizona Founder Dario Soldan. “As part of the iconic designer family, Mr. Ferragamo Jr.'s attendance highlights the strong unity of the Italian community, and we look forward to celebrating our wonderful culture in Scottsdale." Salvatore Ferragamo Jr., the grandchild of Salvatore Ferragamo, the fashion designer and founder of the renowned Italian luxury fashion house known for its shoes and accessories since 1927, will be this year's special guest. Ferragamo's grandson owns part of the family wine company out of Tuscany, Il Borro, a super Tuscan wine producer, and Pinino, a Brunello wine producer. There will be a Ferragamo wine station open throughout the entire weekend of the festival, offering wine bottles and tastings. Ferragamo Jr. will attend the event briefly on Sunday afternoon. The two-day festival will feature over 30 wines from various regions in Italy, new Valley food vendors such as Luna by Giada and Elephante, along with returning favorites like Pomo Pizzeria, Mamma Lucy, Marcellino Ristorante and several others. Merchant vendors such as Outrageous Oils, Italian Harmony and Mamma Letizia will offer a selection of curated Italian products at the event. Additional items available include ceramic pottery from Lome, handcrafted apparel from Tea n Lace, jewelry, leather handbags and original artwork. This year, the festival will feature two stages with live entertainment along the waterfront. Programming includes cooking demonstrations from the festival's title sponsor, Greco & Sons, music performances by Ripalta Bufo, Sima and her All-Star Quartet, the Steve Ansel band and various street performers, including a group of 15 flag twirlers from Asti, Italy. Children can also enjoy face painting and balloon making at the event. The festival provides three ticket packages. The Salvatore Ferragamo Experience is available for $99.99 during the presale period from now until Tuesday, Sept. 30, offering one general admission ticket, six wine tasting tickets, four Ferragamo wine tasting tickets, as well as a wine glass and lanyard. After the presale, the price increases to $125 and does not include the wine glass or lanyard. The “La Strada del Vino” package consists of one general admission ticket, six wine tasting tickets, a wine glass and a lanyard, priced at $49.99 for presale and $65 at the regular rate. General admission tickets cost $15 if purchased in advance and $25 at the door. Children aged 12 and under receive free entry to the festival. The celebrations don't stop there. Ferragamo Jr. will also have an exclusive meet and greet experience on Sunday, Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside of the Ferragamo store in Scottsdale Fashion Square, right next to the festival. For $150, guests can personally meet Ferragamo Jr. and select a bottle of either the highly rated Super Tuscan Il Borro or the Brunello di Montalcino from Pinino. Following the festival, Ferragamo Jr. will host an exclusive dinner on Monday, Oct. 27 at Virtu Honest Craft in Scottsdale. Limited to 50 guests, this event will feature a seven-course menu paired with wines from Il Borro and Pinino, offering attendees the opportunity to dine alongside Ferragamo Jr. A portion of the proceeds will be contributed to the Italian Association in support of building a future Italian Culture Center. Asti is a town in the Piemonte region of Italy. It is a DOCG-recognized wine area, the highest level in Italy. I have heard that specifically looking for a Barbera from Asti is worth the search. Tonight, we will check out this theory.Barbera has a deep ruby color, light to medium body, and is known for its high acid levels. In the past it was known for being a high-production, every-day drinking wine. However, during the past twenty or thirty years, it has become a more serious wine variety, and many different styles can be found. Producers have started aging Barbera in barrels and producing the wine from vineyards with lower yields, which concentrates the juice. The DOC's have different maximum yield levels, and Asti has the lowest production levels. The best Asti vineyards are planted with Barbera. The best Alba (a nearby town) vineyards are reserved for Nebbiolo.A tell for the style might be the alcohol level. A less concentrated Barbera may have an alcohol content of 11-12%, while a richer, more intense wine can be 13% or higher. Tonight, our two wines are:2022 Lavignone Barbera D'Asti. I purchased this wine from Gateway Market in Des Moines for $24.99. According to the Wine Enthusiast, the nose on this wine jumps out of the glass with intense aromas of blueberries and plums, followed by violets and warm savory spices. The palate is very primary, with juicy and candied blackberries in the forefront, accompanied by subtle herbal and earthy notes that emerge and recede, finishing with energetic acidity. It received a score of 87 from the Wine Enthusiast, and has 13.5% alcohol. Cooper's Hawk Barbera features a deep ruby color with a nose of boysenberry, sour cherry, tobacco, and nutmet shifting to a palate with tart berries, full tannins, and noticeable acidity on a persistent finish. It is described as medium-bodied with lively acidity, and the fruit intensity offers notes of ripe cherry and raspberry, with subtle spice and earthiness, and a soft, smooth finish. We both loved the Barbera d'Asti, and rated it a 4. So the next time you want an Italian wine, give it a try.Next week, we will blind taste three differently priced white wines and see if we can find a good affordable white wine.

Romanzi, saggi, raccolte di poesie, graphic novel, albi illustrati, libri per bambine e bambini, romance, gialli, thriller: una vocazione alla diversità culturale, o meglio alla bibliodiversità, che permette agli editori piemontesi di andare incontro agli interessi, ai gusti e alle passioni di lettrici e lettori di ogni età e interesse.A seguito della felice esperienza nella passata edizione, per il secondo anno consecutivo l'iniziativa vede la partecipazione di alcuni gruppi di lettura. Key positions remain unfilled at several Clare secondary schools ahead of the resumption of the new term next week. There are currently nine vacancies in this county, six for teaching roles, and three for Special Needs Assistants. It comes as a new report from the ASTI has revealed that 42% of schools have been forced to remove choice subjects from the curriculum due to staffing shortages. President of the Association of Secondary Teachers Ireland Padraig Curley says the Government needs to take action.

The ASTI has warned that if the planned reforms to the Leaving Certificate go ahead, they may go on strike with their over 20 thousand members. This issue stems from questions about facility quality and fears about generative AI.Joining Kieran to outline the issues, and explain their reasoning is the President of the ASTI and practical teacher Padraig Curley.

Con dazi al 30% e cambio euro-dollaro sui livelli attuali «l export italiano di beni negli Usa si ridurrebbe di circa 38 miliardi, pari al 58% delle vendite negli Stati Uniti, al 6,0% dell export totale e, considerando anche le connessioni indirette, al 4,0% della produzione manifatturiera». Lo stima il Centro studi di Confindustria che evidenzia quanto sarebbe «forte l impatto netto sul Pil». L impatto sulla nostra economia «sarebbe mitigato dalla capacità degli esportatori italiani di trovare nuovi mercati di sbocco e di competere su fattori non di prezzo», ma «nel complesso, il livello del Pil italiano nel 2027 sarebbe minore dello 0,8% rispetto al sentiero baseline. L impatto - secondo l analisi di scenario - sarebbe amplificato dall incertezza nei rapporti transatlantici e dal rallentamento dell economia Usa. L effetto stimato è di medio-lungo periodo, cioè nel caso di dazi permanenti (e quando potrebbe aversi lo spostamento di parti delle lavorazioni negli Stati Uniti), perché molti prodotti italiani di alta qualità sono poco sostituibili a breve, specie in grandi quantità. Gli effetti dei dazi possono però essere mitigati da due aspetti: la capacità degli esportatori italiani di trovare nuovi mercati di sbocco; la possibilità di competere su fattori «non di prezzo». Il commento di Alessandro Fontana, direttore del Centro studi di Confindustria ai microfoni di Sebastiano Barisoni.Propensione al risparmio, sul podio tre province piemontesiPer il quinto anno consecutivo, Biella si conferma la provincia italiana con la più alta propensione al risparmio. E lì che le famiglie accantonano in media il 15,51% del reddito disponibile. A completare il podio, altre due province piemontesi: Asti (13,64%) e Vercelli (13,62%), ben al di sopra della media nazionale dell 8,27%. L altra faccia della medaglia? I cittadini di Crotone (4,63%), Siracusa (4,66%) e Trapani (4,79%) fanno più fatica a mettere da parte qualcosa. A rivelarlo un analisi di Unioncamere e Centro Studi Tagliacarne, che ha misurato la capacità di risparmio delle famiglie italiane nel 2023 a livello provinciale (ULTIMO DATO DISPONIBILE). I dati mostrano una geografia del risparmio articolata: se è vero che Milano, Roma e Torino concentrano da sole oltre un quarto del risparmio totale per effetto della loro dimensione demografica, è nelle province medio-piccole che si riscontra la maggiore inclinazione a risparmiare. Secondo il direttore del Centro Studi, Gaetano Fausto Esposito, a influire sono fattori culturali e demografici: le province più parsimoniose registrano una maggiore presenza di laureati, un età media più alta e nuclei familiari meno numerosi. E in molte aree del Sud come Avellino o Potenza si risparmia di più nonostante un reddito disponibile inferiore alla media nazionale, segno di una prudenza dettata dall incertezza economica. Lo scrive nei giorni scorsi il Wall Street Journal, citando fonti anonime, ricordando che i porti sono di proprietà di CK Hutchison, con sede a Hong Kong. Secondo quanto riportato dal quotidiano, funzionari cinesi avrebbero riferito a BlackRock, MSC e Hutchison che, se Cosco venisse esclusa dall'accordo, Pechino adotterebbe misure per bloccare la proposta di vendita dei porti da parte di Hutchison.
