We demystify a whole lot in this episode of Tech DECIPHERED. We demystify Venture Capital and its nitty gritty decision-making processes and operating models. We demystify Private Equity vs Venture Capital and explain the differences between both. We discuss factors for Start-Up success and demystify entrepreneur “ageism”. Last but not least, we disagree … on the Tesla Cybertruck. Nuno: Hey, Bertrand, how are you? I'm well. Bertrand: Pretty good, thank you, Nuno.  So, what are we going to discuss today? Nuno: So we're gonna discuss a couple of different areas.  One, we're going to demystify VC: a couple of articles on the venture capital space and we'll agree with some of the points made, we will disagree with others, we'll again go in depth and try to demystify the discussion. Then some other articles on de-mystifying startups and founders in particular, and what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur. And finally we'll talk about gadgets and we'll talk about cars today, which is really, really cool. Bertrand: I know you are very excited. Nuno: I am super excited. We only have one article on cars, but I think we can go on for some time. Bertrand: And which car are we going to talk about?  Nuno: We are going to talk about the cyber truck, that thing that does Tesla announced. And we're going to talk about other stuff that's cooler and what's happening in the space. There was a recent announcement as well, of a couple of new electric cars, and so we'll go a little bit off piste on that one. The other side of the table - Entrepreneurs who become VCs (02:31) So, let's start with our first topic today , and we'll start with this good article, from Andreas Goeldi,  titled "What I Didn't Understand About VCs When I Was Still a Founder". It's great that he's coming with his perspective having been a founder, an entrepreneur, now on the venture capital side, and being able to relate, in a way, more easily, from a founder perspective, entrepreneur perspective what it is to be a VC.  And let's go point by point on this one. So the first point that he makes, I agree actually with all of his points. I think there's some nuances around some of the explanations and rationale that he's giving ...

On this episode we talk about the Productivity Week Policy from the Podcast Outside/In, the episode is titled 32 Is The New 40 Published on January 31, 2019. Summary of the podcast “The 40-hour workweek is as American as apple pie, and it's been around almost as long. So, is it finally time to re-think our Monday-through-Friday lifestyle? With modern mechanization and automation, should we all have more leisure time? And what would that mean for the environment? Producer Jimmy Gutierrez looks into the history of work culture, where it's being challenged, and makes the argument that we all should be working less, you know, to save the planet.” Outside/In We talk about the possibilities of this policy becoming a widespread success, some of the drawbacks and some of the things we think they overlooked or missed in their arguments about having a 32 hour work week. As well as some of the potential successes and drawbacks of instituting a 32 hour work week and other subjects in and around this topic. ~ Show Notes: www.thesocialchameleon.show/Is-32-The-New-40 ~~~ Giveaways can be found here www.thesocialchameleon.show/pickme Links & Resources www.thesocialchameleon.show Call: (480) 525-5258 Email: info@thesocialchameleon.show Connect With Us: Facebook: fb.me/SocialChameleonShow Instagram: instagram.com/socialchameleonshow Twitter: twitter.com/SocialChamShow Subscribe: YouTube: bit.ly/SCS-Subscribe Anchor: anchor.fm/social-chameleon-show Apple Podcast:apple.co/2L8hl6R Google Podcast: bit.ly/SCS-Google-Podcast Spotify: spoti.fi/2KYJ0GF Stitcher: bit.ly/SCS-Stitcher Google Music: bit.ly/SCS-Google-Music More Apps Here thesocialchameleon.show/podcast #SocialChameleonShow #32IsTheNew40 #WorkWeek #32HourWorkWeek --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/social-chameleon-show/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/social-chameleon-show/support

When you think of retiring early…you might think 55..50…Mr. Money Mustache retired when he was 30 – which WAS the youngest age I’d heard of retiring at…until I got an email from my guest today Travis Hornsby. He is 25 years old and claims that he is retired! My first reaction was – WHAT? And then I laughed…and then I thought I really need to talk to him. A little more about Travis: Up until this year he was working as a bond trader at Vanguard. He had passed the CFA exams, and was on track to become a Portfolio Manager, but he realized that he wasn't fulfilled…reminds me of a tony robbins saying that success without fulfillment is FAILURE. Travis had always been a big saver since college, so he decided to take the plunge and start saving two-thirds of his income and live like a pauper with the goal to retire at 25, which he has just achieved.  As of right now he is enjoying his retirement by traveling the world. He’s already been all over Europe, and plans to travel to South America and Asia next. Today he’s coming to us all the way from Poland! He has started the website millennialmoola.com to share his advice and help others save and live more. He also has a brand new book called 25 IS THE NEW 65, where he shares his story of how he retired early and shows other millennials how they can do it too.
