In late December of 1979 two long-time friends took off from Moline Illinois to run an errand, but the two men failed to make their last stop and vanished without a trace. About 4 months later they were found dead and the location of their bodies were right under police's noses for months. These are the murders of Gary Harker and Cody James. Eh Yo! This week we speak with Dan Bush the owner of Analog Arcade Bar. Dan Has two locations for Analog Arcade Bar one in Davenport, Iowa, and one in Moline Illinois. Analog Arcade Bar has a great mix of new and old games. Analog Arcade Bar has lots of classics at their Davenport location as well as some Skeeball, air hockey, and consoles. Analog Arcade Bar can be found inside of an old bank which is really unique. Dan and I talk about what needs to be done to keep this scene growing and thriving. The game developers need to bring new, fun, and affordable games to the market so that smaller locations like this can keep the content fresh, the classics will only keep it going for so long. We talk about how Analog Arcade Bar has had some indie games displayed on location and how they are open to trials in the future. What do you want to see from arcade developers in the future? What games would you like to see in the arcade space? If you like what we are doing here at Indie Arcade Wave don't forget to like, share, and subscribe so we can keep the videos flowing. Come ride the wave with us, we are glad to see you here. "Everybody's been dying to know what we think about John Mayer's new record, Sob Rock," Dan asserts at the start of this episode. What's that? You don't actually care what we think about John Mayer's eighth studio album Sob Rock?! Well that's too bad. Eric and Dan are dropping their review of this late '80s inspired pop rock record whether you like or not. So buckle up, buddy. John Mayer songs previewed on this episode include: "Wild Blue" "Shot in the Dark" "New Light" Next up, it's time for yet another installment of everybody's favorite podcast segment about soap — Sudsin' It Up! This time the boys are reviewing Mad Viking's Beard and Body Soap in Blodorn (coffee, chocolate, peppermint) and Ragnarok (Fruity Pebbles-esque) scents. Get the bath water ready. Finally, the duo wraps up the episode with a review of two different collaboration IPAs. Dan shares his thoughts on Dangerous Dual Double West Coast IPA, a collaboration between Dangerous Man Brewing in Minneapolis and Dual Citizen Brewing in St. Paul, Minnesota. Meanwhile, Eric reviews All Gas No Brakes Triple IPA, a collaboration between ReUnion Brewery in Coralville, Iowa, and Wake Brewing in Rock Island, Illinois. Oh, and the Quad Cities includes Davenport (Iowa), Rock Island (Illinois), Moline (Illinois) ... and Bettendorf (Iowa). A question we fail to answer in this episode. You're welcome.

Back in October 2019 I made the almost 2 hour trip from Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Moline, Illinois to photograph and interview singer songwriter, Ian Noe. His music is a genuine reflection of his life in Kentucky and the stories of people around him. You could compare him to any number of legendary singer songwriters but I think that after you listen to Ian's music you'll see that the result of what he sings and the music he plays, is uniquely and completely original. Ian discusses putting the album together, some of the influences that affect his songwriting, and his dislike of EP's. Go to Ian's website and grab a copy of Between the Country and be ready to experience brutally honest songwriting, and a singer who, I will predict now, will be ranked among the legends of folk/country music in the next 20 years. For this episode I interview Liv Carrow, a social worker and musician living in Moline Illinois. Liv was in the middle of buying her first house, when the Global Pandemic hit. And it still went through, but it made for a bizarre and unusual experience, with complex feelings. It's very exciting to get to own your own home, a first home, and settle into a town with the commitment to stay. It's a privilege to not have to be subject to the complicated struggle and political weight of paying rent. It's strange to have a new place, and not be able to fill it with furniture from thrift stores, and with your friends and family. And as a social worker, it's a balancing act, trying to work from home, trying to work to support people who are trying to tuck therapy back into their lives, who can't leave their houses to do that, and trying to make safe spaces and boundaries in your new home for those intense emotions, and your own emotions. These are some of the things we talk about. So tune in! You can check out Liv's lovely music at https://livcarrowmusic.bandcamp.com/This interview was originally recorded on May 14th 2020 Get on the email list at bridgingthesocialdistance.substack.com
