The episode you are about to listen to is a conversation that took place between Eric, Evan and Dan that was recorded after allegations of sexual misconduct and sexual assault perpetrated by musician Sean Tillmann — who performs as Har Mar Superstar — were made public. We learned of the allegations shortly after releasing an episode of the podcast where we reviewed Har Mar Superstar’s latest album. This episode offers a behind the scenes look at the conversation that took place as we processed the news and debated how to best respond to it — or whether we should even respond to the news at all. We hope that releasing this episode encourages anyone listening to have similar conversations of their own and speak up if you are witness to any sort of inappropriate or abusive behavior. We stand with those who came forward about the sexual assault and misconduct perpetrated by Har Mar Superstar. This includes those who remain silent, but have had similar experiences regardless of gender or sexual orientation. There is no excuse for his behavior.  We also have decided to take down the two episodes of Beats, Beards & Brews where we reviewed the musician’s albums as a sign of respect to the survivors. Thanks for listening, and please, be kind to one another.

During the episode Eric mentions he will share some of the albums that explore Napalm Death's evolving musical style. Here are some albums to check out: From Enslavement to Obliteration (1988) – straight-up grindcore sound, with vocalist Lee Dorian Harmony Corruption (1990) – Mark "Barney" Greenway's debut on vocals, this album has some death metal influence Diatribes (1996) – Napalm Death's "controversial" exploration of the groove metal sound The Code is Red - Long Live the Code (2005) – Napalm Death's move to its modern sound Apex Predator - Easy Meat (2015) – prior release to Throes of Joy that "Barney" referred to as its companion album And just to verify, Haddonfield, Illinois, is the fictional town that is the setting of the Halloween horror movie franchise. And as far as we can tell from our limited research, Brooklyn Martinez — the owner of The Classics Pomade Company — is a dude, not that it matters! On another very special quarantine episode of Beats, Beards & Brews, the boys check out the 20th Anniversary Edition remaster of In Flames' game-changing melodic death metal album Clayman. Eric, Evan and Dan reminisce about discovering the "Pinball Map" music video for the first time and they reflect on how one band from Gothenburg, Sweden, impacted the lives of three teenagers growing up in Des Moines, Iowa. Clayman tracks previewed on the episode include: "Only for the Weak" (2020 remaster) "Only for the Weak" (2020 rerecording) "Pinball Map" (2020 remaster) While we're all stuck indoors, the seasons continue to change. As the fall weather slowly creeps in, Eric shares his thoughts on Iowa Beard Company's Hitchhiker Limited Edition Fall/Halloween Scent of beard oil and beard butter. Listen in to find out why Eric can't stop huffing this intriguing and slightly spooky scent blend. For the beer portion of the episode, the three amigos once again align in their beverage choices as they explore the brave new world of apple cider beers. OK, Dan's beverage technically is hard cider with hops added into the brewing process, but close enough. Evan and Eric drink Orchard Dawn, a graf beer brewed with apples. This unique brew, inspired by Stephen King's The Dark Tower series, is a collaboration between Confluence Brewing Company (Des Moines, Iowa) and Jefferson County Ciderworks (Fairfield, Iowa). Meanwhile, Dan sips on the Hop a Wheelie hard cider from Sociable Cider Werks (Minneapolis)  infused with Mosaic hops and guava juice. Break out those hoodies — or maybe just the apple cider brews depending on the weather around you — and embrace the fast approaching fall season with us.
