Advocating and Supporting Our Nation's Veteran and Military Entrepreneurs There are more than 2.5 million veteran-owned businesses in the United States, but that still accounts for just 9% of small businesses in the U.S. In recognition of our nation's military-affiliated entrepreneurs, and as part of USAA's 100th anniversary in 2022, USAA has joined with Bunker Labs to launch a six-city pitch contest to showcase, celebrate and support the next generation of entrepreneurs, with a focus on veterans and military spouses. The “From Service to Start-Up” pitch contest, which features a $100,000 grand prize and $180,000 in additional placement prizes, seeks to reinforce to the veteran community that their military service and experience are valued and that their leadership and positive contributions to their communities are important. USAA has provided Bunker Labs more than $2.5 million since 2018 to ensure military-connected entrepreneurs receive the resources and support needed to start successful business ventures through programs such as Veteran in Residence, a six-month startup incubator that provides veterans, military spouses, and military family members with the community, national business network, and resources needed to grow their business. MAJ (Ret.) Mike Kelly, Assistant Vice President of Military Advocacy at USAA. Mike, along with his team, focus on key veteran and spouse issues, including navigating the transition into the civilian workforce, entrepreneurship, financial readiness, and more. 100% BS is joined by one of the most censored people on the internet and simultaneously, one of the kindest and most compassionate people I've ever spoken to. Alec Zeck is the Founder and Executive Director of Health Freedom for Humanity and is an outspoken advocate for freedom, body autonomy, and empowering people from all walks of life to take ownership of their wellness and freedom. He is also a husband, father, West Point grad, and Army Veteran. Summary:This episode explores the profound changes that COVID has had on the individual and collective – spanning from eerie levels of censorship, unthinkable invasions of privacy, tribalism, inability to see truth, divisiveness, and how it distills into every individual involved. In a world plagued by so many complex issues, Alec and I attempt to break down how you can positively impact others while respecting their path and process. We formulate the way to embody love and compassion for all, how to make sense of tragedy and darkness, and why the Universe is balanced in everything it does – which means you are balanced, too. Finally, Alec shares solutions as a way to move forward. In a particularly impactful moment, Alec explains what “you are free by virtue of existing” means and why standing in that freedom as a man or woman will yield beautiful outcomes beyond imagination.Key Points:·      Alec's crazy censorship story (deleted over 7 times)·      How to change peoples' minds and get people to trust themselves·      Ways to reclaim your inherent power·      How the governments' mandates are enforced via the people·      Law of One explanation including Service to Self vs Service to Others·      How the Law of One applies to COVID, mandates, and power dynamics·      Why turning people back to themselves is the key to embodied transformation·      Why the road to changing someone's mind is found through their heart·      Behind the scenes of the Health Freedom Symposium  Alec Links:Donate to HFFHHFFH Podcast (Top 50 Health & Wellness)The Way Forward PodcastTheWayFwrd Telegram Shop The Way Forward  Bella Links:Bella on IG 100% BS on IG Join my NewsletterWatch this episode on YouTube Writing on Substack

Anu Verma interviews ex-veteran and ex-convict Dane Gordon. Dane grew up with an alcoholic father and mentally ill mother. He lacked real love and connection as a child and became addicted to alcohol and drugs during early adulthood. He was a six year army veteran which followed by a mental breakdown and then six years in prison after he had burnt a church down. Through trial and failure, he got himself together (with the help of others) and found life inside of prison. He found a passion for sharing his story and speaking with others about their stories which he dreamed of following through upon his release. One thing he decided was to have a better relationship with his father and so they became best friends and spoke everyday. As his internal life got better, he was finding freedom inside of prison and remarkably he had found a purpose. Then one day, he received a terrible phone call that his father had gotten into a motorcycle accident and was killed instantly, his world was shattered. He couldn't even go to his funeral. Today it's flower growers in the south west of England who say the lack of staff will mean more problems for them. Many say they lost a quarter of their crop this year as there weren't enough pickers. They're now recruiting for workers to start in December and say unless the government extends the Seasonal Workers Pilot Scheme to include them, within the month, they're likely to face the same issues. There are warnings that British fishing will lose £300 million in the next five years, rather than gaining £148 million as the Government promised. The figures come from the National Federation of Fishermen's Organisations which says a cost benefit analysis of the impact of Brexit shows there are few winners in the UK fleet, and that an ‘opportunity has been squandered.' All week we're looking at different ways of getting a job in agriculture and the variety of roles on offer. New entrants are usually at the start of their working life, but we hear from someone who went into farm management after a military career. At 20, as a young father who was no longer playing ball or attending school, Vargas felt like a disappointment to his family. In 2003, during the invasion of Baghdad at the outbreak of the Iraq War, Vargas watched a televised newscast in which a Marine helped to topple a statue of dictator Saddam Hussein. News reporters interviewed the Marine's family, who emotionally expressed their pride in his service. The next day, Vargas went to a military recruiting office to enlist. He later served in both Iraq and Afghanistan as an Army Ranger, became a drill sergeant, and after serving, even joined the U.S. Border Patrol. In this week's episode of Borne the Battle, Vincent Vargas discusses his many transitions between sports, military and civilian lives, getting into acting, his time on the Drinkin' Bros podcast, and the founding of Beteran, his Veteran-focused clothing line that emphasizes empowerment and positivity rather than the prevailing Veteran narratives of depression, alcoholism, and suicide.Borne the Battle Veteran of the Week: Army Veteran Ricardo Barraza Also Mentioned in this Episode: https://vincentroccovargas.com/ VETSmile pilot program to improve affordable dental care access for Veterans Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers to provide an additional year for eligibility and reassessment of certain participants

If you're an entrepreneur, tell us how you provide value to your clients.: I recently published my first book July 1 called Calmed.Growth After Trauma I just recently resigned from teaching after 12 years to start my own business to continue writing and helping others right, as well as helping veterans and their families. I have created a wellness course based on a healing framework that I would like to reach the families and friends of veterans. Eventually I would like to help people from all areas of trauma and struggle not just our veteran families. What were some small shifts in your mindset that you started doing to help get you to where you are today?: Well there is definitely a turning point when I started to educate myself on post traumatic growth. That has helped me to identify different ways to get more in touch with myself, practice mindfulness, and a whole lot of self-care. What breakthroughs have you had in life?: I would say the last year and a half there has been a number of breakthroughs. One of the first would be suffering from a head injury in February 2020 which then led to a rough recovery. Once identified that I was not in a good place emotionally, I knew I had to do something to get out of my funk. So from there I decided to get back to writing and write the book I told myself I would write for 16 years. I did just that but along with it came more breakthroughs with my own personal development as well as healing between myself and my husband who is also a combat veteran. Leaders are readers. What was a book that assisted you in life or is your "go to" for motivation/inspiration?: Struggle Well:Thriving in the Aftermath of Trauma by Ken Falke and Josh Goldberg --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/forginglife/message
