Monona Grove's road show made its appearance at Waukesha West in Level 3 of the 2016 Division 2 high school football playoffs. The Silver Eagles and Wolverines lit up the scoreboard in the first half, settled into a defensive battle in the second half, and after a missed field goal to end regulation by Monona Grove, headed for overtime. Waukesha West scored first, with Monona Grove answering back. The Silver Eagles decided to go for two and the win, and walked off winners 43-42 in overtime. At the end of the 2017-2018 high school basketball regular season, Monona Grove and Stoughton had even conference records heading into their regular-season finale in boys basketball. The winning team would be outright Badger South Conference champions heading into the postseason.
