This week the men are joined by Karl Kuehn of the music projects Museum Mouth, Gay Meat, and Say Anything, who goes into detail on his history with blink-182, no, actually, we found a guest who likes them :). We also watched the 1999 Will Smith vehicle, Wicki-wicki Wild Wild West. Along the way we also discuss social media activity in a relationship, Mike brings up Joe Rogan, again, and Trace adjusts to his new lifestyle as an openly verified twitter account.
Spinning Out (another music podcast) We talk to artists about their favorite albums and go on wild tangents. This week's guest is my good friend Karl Kuehn (of Museum Mouth). We chatted about Incubus' 2001 album, "Morning View." Karl and I go way back, have played many shows together and even toured a few times together. So good to catch up and do an in-person chat together! On top of playing music in Museum Mouth, Karl has a new solo project called Gay Meat, and also does a podcast called It Rocks or It Sucks. Karl is heavily featured on the last Say Anything album, Oliver Appropriate, even singing lead vocals on the song "Your Father."

Museum Mouth bassist Kory Urban plays in a punk band but he's learned a lot by listening to country music, from song structures to first realizing that he wanted a girlfriend. After Kory discusses how his wife measures up to the character from "Daddy's Money" (he's not a gold digger - she's got her own money!), we talk about tropes and misogyny in country music and some of our picks for this year's Hopscotch Music Festival, which features a bill curated by Museum Mouth. Kory's pick: "Daddy's Money" by Ricochet, 1996 Keep up with Museum Mouth at http://www.museummouth.com/ and see them on tour with Max Bemis this fall!

John Meier of Naked Naps fame sat down with Jake from State Farm and Granma Kara last Friday at Hopscotch's Wristband City. He shared tales from the gone-but-not-forgotten Mattress Fort and the story of how he ripped his pants on stage. He also promises that the track names “Toyota Prius, The Silent Killer” and “Honda Civic '99,” off the Naked Naps and Museum Mouth split, are merely coincidental.

The pop-leaning electronic trio has raised the bar for local production expectations, incorporating live instrumentation and video projection in a way that the area has seldom seen before. Dax, Kate and Adam joined us in the studio last week for Carolina Grown in advance of the release of Local Love Vol. 1, their new covers EP, to provide a peek behind the curtain of their electronic wizardry.Throughout the hour the band discussed the motivation behind their local covers EP, the songwriting process, all of the work that goes into their visual projections, and shared a ridiculously hilarious freestyle song. Tune in to the full segment to hear covers of Museum Mouth, Weller and Rogue Band of Youth along with some revelatory discussion on their live performances.
