Today, we are speaking with Liz Dennett, the CEO and Founder of Endolith. Endolith recently spun out of Cemvita to form its own independent company. (Ep #200 with Moji from Cemvita)By 2050, we will need more copper than in the history of mankind due to the electrification of industry and developing countries. If we don't solve this, it could lead to geopolitical conflicts. Their tech uses microbes to eat crushed rocks and poop out copper (I did say explain it to me like I'm 5). They add this to existing mining operations to increase output by ~10%. This helps us get closer to solving copper demand. In today's conversation, we cover**Copper in electrification**Her journey to CEO of Endolith**Why copper could be the thing wars are fought over**The innovation behind microbial mining**The balance between generating hype and focusing on scientific advancementsEnjoy! ---

This is Steven's first appearance on Hallmark. His past roles include House of the Dragon, Return to House on Haunted Hill, and the TV series adaptation of The Flatshare. Chay Faraday Browne plays Tobias. Chay has 7 acting credits, including the series Right Swipe and The Surveyor. Love on the Danube: Royal Getaway was filmed on location in Budapest. Our Thoughts on Love on the Danube: Royal Getaway What We Liked Dynamic Duo:We enjoyed the chemistry between Dan Jeanotte (Joe) and Jessica Sipos (Ava). Dan consistently brings charm to his roles, and Jessica's energy was palpable. Their interactions felt genuine, contributing to the movie's overall emotional appeal. Supporting Cast:Catherine Disher's presence was a definite plus. She's the kind of character you'd want on your cruise — exuding wisdom and charm. Moreover, her scenes with Steven Pacey's Reynolds hinted at a compelling subplot that we wish had more screen time. Scenic Locations:The movie's on-location shoots were visually stunning. Budapest's beautiful landmarks and the vibrant European backdrops significantly elevated the movie. Visually, it felt more genuine and less reliant on the cliché Hallmark sets. Animated Intro:The custom animated intro for the movie was a delightful touch. It added a unique flavor and set a charming tone before delving into the story. What We Wished For Plot Predictability:While enjoyable, the movie followed the well-worn Hallmark formula a bit too closely, making it painfully predictable at times. The fake royal trope is getting tiresome, and we long for some fresh storylines in future films. More Cruise Content:For a movie centered around a cruise, there was surprisingly little "boat stuff." We hoped for more scenes showing the cruise experience, which felt sidelined in favor of land-based storytelling. ...

We had the pleasure of interviewing SHAED over Zoom video!Genre-defying band SHAED announces their new album Spinning Out out June 7th via BMG. Pre-save the album HERE. The band also released their new single “Rocket in the Sky.”The album comprises eleven songs exploring themes of family, love, and growth. Over years of writing, recording, and producing, Spinning Out cohered as a collection of snapshots and vignettes, reflecting on love and belonging from all different angles.“Rocket in the Sky” follows “Everybody Knows I'm High” as the second single from Spinning Out. “Rocket in the Sky,” while originally written about Chelsea and Spencer's daughter June, perfectly captures the feeling of loving someone so much that you can't even do the simplest of tasks. The creation of “Rocket in the Sky” was entirely organic and “super emotional.” Spencer and Chelsea started the song on the guitar, Max reimagined the chords on the piano, and all three finished it and tracked it in the living room.On the production, SHAED shared, “We produced it out in a bunch of different ways in LA, including a disco version, think ‘Staying Alive,' ‘Dancing Queen' energy. When we got back to DC, we listened back to the original demo and just felt that it had this unrestrained emotional performance by Chelsea that couldn't be replicated. So we kept the original demo, layered in a few elements to build the energy of the tune, and printed it.”About SHAED:SHAED weren't immune to spinning out. The trio of Chelsea Lee and twin brothers Max and Spencer Ernst had been living in a whirlwind for a long time — a long, circuitous, sometimes stop-start arc that included meeting as teenagers playing around D.C., living and writing at home together, and a surprise breakout hit in 2018's “Trampoline.” The runaway ascension of “Trampoline” led the band through an array of dream scenario milestones — soundtracking a MacBook Air commercial, two billion streams, and accolades from pop culture monoliths like iHeart and Billboard. But SHAED also experienced the pitfalls of following that unexpected success. Seeking a reset, the trio emerged from tumultuous times equally defined by existential crises and beautiful life changes to craft a sophomore album that was as true a statement of their identity as anything they had made thus far. There was only one name for it: Spinning Out.Spinning Out is the sound of SHAED's core ethos, their connection as family and musicians. Inspired by new love and parenthood, the album cohered as a collection of snapshots and vignettes, reflecting on belonging and connection from all different angles. While aided by collaborators like POWERS' Mike Del Rio, the bulk of Spinning Out was built on SHAED, as always, writing and recording at home together, chasing a more organic and lived-in atmosphere. Across moving ballads and graceful bops alike — including the emotionally bare title track, the soaring “Rocket In The Sky,” and the hazy earworm of lead single “Everybody Knows I'm High” (debuted in SHAED's February Kimmel performance) — the band catalogs all the trials, euphoria, confusion, and hope that ran through a messy few years. Once upon a time Spinning Out might've been born from fragmentation, but it became the story of SHAED doing what they've always done best — getting in a room and chasing the answer together.“Everybody Knows I'm High” was SHAED's follow up to their 2021 album High Dive.We want to hear from you! Charlie Hertzog Young became a climate activist in his early teens. His journey led him onto airport runways and into the halls of power, but also to a serious mental health breakdown. He had to rebuild himself physically and psychologically, before focusing his efforts on collective mental recovery in response to a planet in crisis. Spinning Out: Climate Change, Mental Health and Fighting for a Better Future (Footnote Press, 2023) explores how climate chaos and the failure of those in power to tackle it are causing an inevitable mental health crisis across the globe. The relationship between the climate and our emotional wellbeing goes far deeper than eco-anxiety. It goes to the roots of our civilization - its principles, its practices and its false solutions. With testimony from dozens of activists, organizers and researchers across every habitable continent, Spinning Out is a celebration (of other ways to be) and a manual for anyone who wants to fight for a better world, while avoiding burnout and despair. Wedding the needs of the earth with the needs of the human mind, Spinning Out offers a powerful, collective vision for change. Learn more about your ad choices. Spinning Out (another music podcast) We talk to artists about their favorite albums and go on wild tangents. This week on the pod I'm joined by Amos Pitsch of the band Dusk, and also of Tenement. We talked about NRBQ's 1972 album, "Scraps" We chat about the history of the band, the definition of power pop and branching out with your songwriting. So, if you're coming here as a big NRBQ fan, then just to note, there's tons we don't know about the history of the band. This chat is really more about our shared experience with discovering NRBQ. Speaking for myself, I'm a pretty new fan, somehow only really digging in over the last three or so years. Right after my chat with Amos I watched this very informative A&E piece on the band that really fills in a lot of holes we both had during our conversation. And if you're pretty new to the band yourself, I'd highly recommend that piece, if just for the hi-jinks the band pulls during it. Another piece worth checking out is Connie Chung's piece on the band from the late 1980s. With all of that said, I had a lot of fun catching up with Amos and really loved his band Dusk's newest album, Glass Pastures. Check it out now on Don Giovanni Records. https://countrydusk.bandcamp.com/album/glass-pastures Subscribe to our Patreon here: www.patreon.com/spinningoutpod Follow us on social media -- twitter and instagram (@Spinningoutpod)

About "Sealed with a List" This movie premiered on Saturday, December 16th as part of the Countdown to Christmas closing weekend. “Sealed with a List” was filmed in and around New Westminster, BC. Some scenes were also filmed in Langley at Martini Town, a set owned by Martini Film Studios. Emily Ting and Melynda Bissmeyer, along with Robin Gadsby are the writers on this film. Emily and Melynda had previously worked together on “Christmas at the Golden Dragon” in 2022 and Robin wrote “A Christmas Cookie Catastrophe” and “Christmas Sail” - which is a super under rated fave of ours from 2021. Katie Findlay plays Carley. Katie has 30 previous acting credits including “Love Strikes Twice” in 2021 for Hallmark. You might also recognize her from “The Killing” on Netflix - which is an incredible crime thriller if you haven't seen it. Katie was also in 26 episodes of “The Carrie Diaries” which was a SATC prequel, “How to Get Away with Murder,” “Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist” and most recently “Walker: Independence” with fellow Hallmark actor, Katherine McNamara. Evan was also in 10 episodes of “Spinning Out” for Netflix where he used his experience on ice to use. BJ Harrison plays Millie. BJ is a familiar face for Hallmark. She has 139 acting credits and has 4 upcoming projects - including “Holidazed” a project that has been in post-production purgatory. Maybe we'll see it in 2024? Tory Tunnell's original dream was to the Editor for Vogue. In college, she interned at places like The New Yorker and Harper's Bizarre, but she minored in Film, which started a trek to working as a Producer. These days, Tunnell is known for Holy Rollers, My Blind Brother, King Arthur - Legend of the Sword, Underground, Robin Hood, Spinning Out, and now Monarch - Legacy of Monsters. The latest series stars Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Anders Holm, Kiersey Clemons, and Ren Watabe. The plot reads, "Set after the battle between Godzilla and the Titans, revealing that monsters are real, follows one family's journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to Monarch.” In this interview, Tory talks about the mechanism of film both in terms of creativity and commerce, jumping in the deep with little to no experience, how she cold called billionaires, misdirects in any career path, being persistent yet not annoying, sticking with a project until it gets made, and how to actually make money in this business. We also mention Tory's husband and producing partner, Joby Harold, which I interviewed back in Episode 348 for Obi-Wan Kenobi and Misha Green, the showrunner for Underground back in Episode 03.
