I sit down with wedding photographer Erica Leman of Sweet Alice Photography to discuss a topic many photographers don't think about when trying to book clients: the emotional value and 'weight' of photos. Whether you're photographing a wedding, family portraits, or newborn images, the emotional impact can be different for every viewer. Here's a secret: people are more likely to book AND spend more money based on emotions! About Our Guest Erica Leman of Sweet Alice Photography is a wedding photographer and photography business coach located in the Hudson Valley of New York (Yes, her name is Erica, not Alice – Alice is her cat). When she's not spending time photographing weddings and teaching others how to run a profitable wedding photography business of their own, she's likely cuddling with her pets (two dogs and two cats), hiking with her husband, or doing a puzzle. You can also find Erica on Facebook and Instagram. Support the Nerdy Photographer Podcast If you would like to support the Nerdy Photographer Podcast, that's great. For more info check out: https://www.3books.co/ Chapter Description: Want to hang out in New York? Yes, let’s go back to pre-pandemic when sidewalks were full, strangers shook hands, and everybody popped in and out of stores like it was nothing. Sound like a faraway dream world? Yeah, it does to me, too. Yet somehow only a few months ago I flew down to New York and hung out in Union Square and The Strand bookstore with literary phenom Anne Bogel. Anne runs Modern Mrs Darcy, one of the world’s largest book blogs, as well as What Should I Read Next? and One Great Book, two of the world’s largest books podcast. Is that all? No, of course that’s not all! Do you know Anne? She’s like the Tasmanian Devil. She’s also a bestselling author and has three books to her name including Don’t Overthink It, I’d Rather Be Reading, and Reading People. Oh, and did I mention she’s the mother of four children!?!? In Chapter 57, Anne shares why she’s hesitant to look at people’s bookshelves when she’s just met them, what your ‘reading life’ is and how to grow and nurture it, what makes a city liveable, how Anne would organize a bookstore, and, of course, Anne’s three most formative books. I am so excited to share this conversation with you. I dare you to listen to Anne and not feel immediately excited to grow your reading life… Let’s go! What You’ll Learn: What is your reading life? How do you grow your reading life? What do your bookshelves say about you? How do you lean into reading new narrative structures? What books should you read to your kids to introduce them to death? What would Anne Bogel’s bookstore look like? How do you measure success? You can find show notes and more information by clicking here: https://www.3books.co/chapters/57         Leave us a voicemail. Andre Harrison is back, and ready to rumble for Episode 83! In it, we review a rather madcap IndyCar Grand Prix of Alabama which was one by Josef Newgarden for the second time in three years, and his first win for Team Penske, even if it was at the expense of Will Power's slow puncture. That and a whole lot more involving RHR in the wars, Scott Dixon's 7th Barber podium without a win, and Pigot getting the commentators curse, as Fernando Alonso came to town! We also go through a lot of news, including the latest F1 Strategy Group and the death of the "Halo", the odds that Sauber could be switching to Honda power, another F1 race in New York (Yes, again), and the sad news regarding Billy Monger and the retirement of Dale Jr. in NASCAR! Thanks for listening!
