Executive Overreach: Minnesota Governor Ignores the People on Gun Rights Analysis: After failing to pass "assault weapon" bans through a divided legislature, Governor Tim Walz signed two executive orders to create a safety council and track gun violence costs. Hawaii's Wishful Thinking Meets Reality: A Supreme Court Showdown on the Second Amendment Analysis: Hawaii defends its "sensitive places" law in Wolford v. Do you think that there will be an influx of NFA stuff like SBR's, SBS's and suppressors since the One Big Beautiful Bill will be active? I know you guys don't go to SHOT anymore, but what would you like to see come out? John B - So I was listening to the AR-15 podcast and Dauly keeps saying you need to buy mags in “generational wealth” volume. What is it that you guys think is the appropriate number of mags to have for your rifle and pistol? Do I really need to have 10 mags minimum? Gus Gus - Hello people and Aaron, What one thing do you each think we do or use or teach in the firearms space that we will one day look back on and say “wow, I can't believe we let that happen” (besides letting Aaron speak). Could be anything from gear to training to lawfare practices. For myself, I think open emitter red dots on concealed carry guns will be looked at as weird and genX level fuddery and anyone who uses one will always feel like explaining it away like Jeremy does with iron sights. Thanks guys and Aaron Unfit for Human Consumption - What software would you recommend for tracking a gun collection? I have (only) a few dozen guns, and have been using "NMCollector" since about 2005, and it meets my needs. It is now $15/year which is very reasonable, and a "lifetime" activation is less than 85-bucks. A quick search on the interwebs for alternatives reveals "ArmoryBook" which is $200/yr for up to 50 records, and "GunTrack" which is $100/yr for up to 100 records; both are way over budget for my needs. Are there other softwares I'm not aware of that you'd recommend? I don't keep pictures generally, and all I really need to track is make, model, caliber, description, year & country of manufacture, source, cost, appraised value, etc for insurance records and for my wife to cash in on this "401(G)uns" fund when I'm gone (hopefully not for several decades). Jon Patton - https://theguncollective.com/ Dear WLS Hunter M - Wanting to upgrade my Ender 3 Pro to a Bambu X1C, but I am hesitant to buy one if there is a possibility of blocking 2A prints. I have seen where some people suggest never connecting it to the internet and only printing off of SD cards but it seems like you could be missing out on a ton of features. Is it worth it to connect it to the internet or play it safe and only use it offline? If it was connected and they pushed out anti-gun restrictions how could you get the printer back to printing freedom? Conner R - What are your go to snacks or meals when hiking, camping, hunting, or rucking? What are you favorite meals in general? Thanks!l Uvuana Suqit - Why does every host on the Firearms Radio Network seem to have an astigmatism? And a bunch of other media people in the firearms industry in general. I hear constantly about not being able to use red dots because of astigmatism, making the dot not a perfect circle, and some other shape. Just want to say that the projection on the glass for red dots won't be a perfect circle with the way they are designed/manufactured, and the “dot” has a weird shape because it is projecting a bunch of tiny dots to a general area on the glass to make up the dot. It does not create a perfect circle. And if you focus on the “dot,” then you will see “imperfection” vs looking at the target where the “imperfection” will be nonexistent, with the general dot shape being over the target. I'm just curious if everyone is mistaking this inherent design of the red dot projection for something that is wrong with their eyes. And when every host says they have an astigmatism, it just seems odd. Karl F - The conflict in Ukraine has demonstrated the usefulness of small drones when it comes to both reconnaissance and delivery of payloads. This usefulness could definitely extend beyond combat to a SHTF scenario. Have any of you considered adding a drone to your gear collection?#blamecanada Oopsie Daisy - If you wanted to escape thermal imaging, do you think throwing a mylar poncho over the wool Five Star Alterations poncho would have a greater effect on reducing your thermal signature? For no one in particular, I'm interested to hear all of your opinions on this. Nate B - How far back is too far back for barrel porting? I understand you'd like the port as far forward as possible as that is where it's most beneficial (better tilt point) but I've seen ported Glocks and other pistols where they have multiple, tiny holes that seem to be fairly close to the chamber. And I found this holster company that will make any custom holster you want. They do something that if have not seen before in adding leather to the inside for a smooth draw. I love the fact that they will make a custom holster for non stock guns, because none of my pistols are the stock setup. They just didn't want certain people exercising it. So they ruled an entire race had zero constitutional rights. This is the story of how fear of an armed population led to the worst Supreme Court decision in history—and why it matters for every gun owner today. What this reveals: The Court understood the 2A as an individual right, not just militia They feared an armed population—specifically armed Black Americans Gun control was a tool of racial oppression from day one They chose to strip citizenship rather than allow armed equality THE EXPLOSION: North erupts in fury Republicans see it as proof of "slave power conspiracy" (they're right) Abraham Lincoln rises: "What's next—making free states into slave states?" Four years later: Civil War begins 600,000 dead THE FIX: 13th Amendment (1865): Abolishes slavery 14th Amendment (1868): Overturns Dred Scott—declares all Americans are citizens This becomes the foundation for applying the Bill of Rights—including the 2A—to state governments THE 2A CONNECTION Why every gun rights advocate should know this case: ✓ SCOTUS explicitly tied citizenship to the right to bear arms—they admitted it was individual, not militia-based ✓ The Court's fear of armed citizens drove their decision—they'd rather strip citizenship than allow armed Black Americans ✓ Gun control as racial control—disarming populations has always been about power, not safety ✓ The 14th Amendment's purpose: Overturn Dred Scott and protect rights against state infringement ✓ McDonald v. Chicago (2010): Supreme Court incorporated 2A against states by citing the 14th Amendment's reversal of Dred Scott and how Southern states disarmed free Black people THE 14TH AMENDMENT - Ratified July 9, 1868—specifically to overturn Dred Scott Section 1 (the critical part): "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." What this did: ✅ Overturned Dred Scott — Declared ALL people born in the U.S. are citizens ✅ Protected rights against state infringement — States can't "abridge the privileges or immunities" of citizens ✅ Applied the Bill of Rights to states — Before this, only the federal government was bound by the Bill of Rights ✅ Made the 2A enforceable against states — This is why state gun bans can be challenged in federal court The 14th Amendment's Framers on the Right to Bear Arms: During congressional debates over the 14th Amendment, Republicans repeatedly cited Southern states disarming free Black people as a reason the amendment was necessary: Senator Jacob Howard said the amendment would protect "the personal rights guarantied and secured by the first eight amendments of the Constitution; such as...the right to keep and to bear arms" Congressmen cited "Black Codes" that banned Black Americans from owning firearms The amendment was designed to prevent states from doing what Dred Scott enabled: stripping constitutional rights based on race Modern Impact: McDonald v. Chicago (2010) — Supreme Court incorporates the Second Amendment against state and local governments Justice Alito's majority opinion: Cited the 14th Amendment as overturning Dred Scott Discussed how Southern states used gun control to oppress freed slaves after the Civil War Concluded the right to bear arms is a "fundamental right" protected by the 14th Amendment's guarantee that states can't abridge the "privileges or immunities" of citizens The direct line: Dred Scott says Black people aren't citizens and can't have rights (including arms) Civil War fought partly over this 14th Amendment passes to reverse Dred Scott and protect all citizens' rights 150+ years later, that same amendment is used to strike down state gun bans THE LESSON: The Constitution protects "the people"—not "some people." When courts decide rights don't apply to certain groups, nobody's rights are secure.

The Agency Brief The Militia Act of 1792: Federal Mandate for Private Firearm Ownership Five months after ratifying the Second Amendment (December 1791), the same Congress passed the Militia Acts in May 1792.   The Two Acts May 2, 1792 – Calling Forth Act -  Authorized the President to call the militia into federal service. May 8, 1792 – Uniform Militia Act - Mandated private armament and established uniform national standards (passed on the final day of the session).   Reason for Passage A direct response to St. Clair's Defeat (November 1791), the worst U.S. military loss of the era. Congress responded by: Expanding the professional army (the Legion of the United States) Requiring citizens to arm themselves as a ready reserve — ensuring the nation didn't rely on a large standing army many feared could threaten liberty   Who Was Enrolled “Each and every free able-bodied white male citizen” aged 18–45. Enrollment was automatic, with limited exemptions. Some states broadened eligibility.   Required Equipment (Section 1 — purchased and maintained at personal expense) Musket or firelock (military caliber, bayonet-capable) or rifle Bayonet and belt Knapsack, pouch, two spare flints Cartridge box with ≥24 cartridges (or ≥20 balls for rifles) Officers: additional privately purchased items (pistols, swords, fusils, etc.) Failure to appear properly equipped at muster resulted in fines enforced by militia courts-martial.
