What if success is not measured by how big your practice becomes, but by how aligned your life feels? Dr. Lona and Dr. Chris Grier explore what it actually means to build a remarkable life alongside a remarkable practice. They share the real decisions behind homeschooling, transitioning back to public school, structuring weekly marriage meetings, and protecting time for family. This conversation invites chiropractors to clarify their core values, define success on their own terms, and build a practice strong enough to support the life they truly want. It is a grounded reminder that growth only matters if it honors what matters most. Key Highlights 02:18 – The tension between massive business growth and personal values surfaces in a powerful opening reflection. 04:34 – Chris shares the family decision to prioritize homeschooling and intentionally limit business expansion. 05:59 – A deep dive into defining family core values and filtering every major decision through them. 07:37 – Simplicity, freedom, abundance, and peace of mind emerge as guiding anchors for life and business. 10:06 – The shift from homeschooling to public high school becomes a values-based family recalibration. 11:16 – Lona shares the homeschool decision process with her own children and protecting evening family rhythms. 15:24 – The idea of crafting your own dream challenges the social media version of success. 19:27 – Fortitude is required to stop defaulting back into overworking when pressure hits. 20:57 – A call to action: stop the hamster wheel, take time, and intentionally redesign your life. 22:50 - Dr. Kevin Day welcomes Success Partner, Dr. Jeff Langmaid of The Smart Chiropractor to discuss consistent email communication to improve patient retention, reactivations, and overall profitability. They discuss key metrics like net momentum and lifetime value, emphasizing that keeping and reactivating patients is far more cost-effective than constantly acquiring new ones, leading to stronger, more sustainable practice growth. A 4-year-old's Lenten question opens a bigger one: what does it actually mean to “act like Jesus” and pray, “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”? In this episode, Joe Rockey and Father Boniface Hicks connect Lent, Scripture, and real-life decision-making—showing that God's will is love, but love isn't vague “good vibes.” Love has reality, boundaries, and practical limits: what you can give, what someone can receive, and what wisdom calls for in a specific moment. They start with the Garden of Eden and the way God speaks truth about consequences, then move into how virtue matures us toward love as the “crown” of the virtues. The conversation closes with a key challenge: most of life isn't a carved-in-stone playbook—so how do we actually develop discernment, trust our judgment, and keep growing (with God's grace and the help of others)?Key Ideas“Act like Jesus” isn't imitation theater—it's becoming formed in God's logic over time, especially through Lent.God's will (in heaven and on earth) is love, and virtue exists to serve love.Love has limits in practice: what you can do, what others can receive, and what is realistically possible. We avoid what is clearly wrong, but we don't always instantly know the most loving “right” in gray areas.Discernment grows through prayer, experience, feedback, community wisdom, and noticing wounded places that distort decisions. The Holy Spirit forms Christians gradually—more sensitivity, better judgment, more Christlike freedom.Scripture Mentioned (no links)Genesis 2–3 (Garden of Eden context)Matthew 6:10 (“Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”)Galatians 6:2 (“Carry one another's burdens…”)Romans 13:10 (“Love is the fulfillment of the law”)Acts 3:1–10 (the beggar at the Beautiful Gate)Links & References (official/source only)Dr. Jordan B. In this episode, the MadPo3t sits down with writer Diana Esther to dissect the intersection of experimental craft and existential survival. Diana reveals how her "Freeflow" style wasn't just a choice, but a natural evolution born from deep experimentation—a process that exposed her innate talents and anchored her identity as a lifelong writer.Beyond the mechanics of the page, the conversation shifts into the "Deep Iron" of her life experiences. Diana shares her journey of overcoming cancer, a battle that radically recalibrated her understanding of the world and her approach to the creative process. This is a "Wisdom Driven" dialogue that challenges the listener to look past the surface of storytelling and into the very grit required to sustain a life of meaning.

There are seasons when strength feels thin and tears fall faster than we can hold them back. In those moments, it can feel like we’re barely surviving the weight of what we’re carrying. Yet Psalm 34 reminds us of a powerful truth: the Lord hears the cries of the righteous, stays close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Sometimes we wish God would instantly remove the hardship. We know He has the power to do it. But often, He doesn’t. Not because He is distant—but because He is deeply invested in a greater good we cannot yet see. Jesus does not stand far off while we struggle. He draws near. He sees every tear. He understands every ache. His compassion is not theoretical; it is personal. He is present in the sorrow, strengthening us step by step. Hard seasons are not wasted seasons. Even when circumstances don’t feel good, God promises to work them for good for those who love Him. His plan is redemptive. His love is steady. His presence is constant. If you are fighting through something heavy today, remember: you are not fighting alone. The Lord is close. He is holding you. And He is leading you toward something more beautiful than you can yet imagine. Main Takeaways God hears your cries and stays close when you are brokenhearted. Jesus feels compassion for your pain and walks with you through it. Not all hardship is removed immediately, but none of it is wasted. God is working redemption even when you cannot see it. You can find fortitude by leaning on His presence and promises. Today's Bible Reading:The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Life can change in an instant, testing our resilience, faith, and perspective. Lindsey Roy joins the show to share her journey from a traumatic boating accident that led to a leg amputation to a rare lung disease requiring a double lung transplant, revealing how these experiences reshaped her motherhood, leadership, and daily life. She reflects on trusting her body, leaning on community, and embracing vulnerability—showing how even the toughest challenges can inspire growth, gratitude, and a renewed sense of purpose. Key Takeaways: Life-altering challenges can become catalysts for deeper perspective, resilience, and purpose. Trusting your body and advocating for your health are essential parts of healing. Vulnerability in leadership builds trust, connection, and healthier work cultures. Community, faith, and support systems help carry the weight when life feels overwhelming. Adaptability and gratitude can transform limitations into opportunities for growth. About Lindsey Roy: Lindsey Roy has twice needed surgery to save her life. The first, a leg amputation after a traumatic boating accident and the second a double lung transplant after being diagnosed with a rare and progressive disease which constricted the blood vessels in her lungs. These experiences, coupled with her natural gifts for speaking and writing, have created a passion in Lindsey to tell her story in the hopes of helping others tackle whatever obstacles life throws at them. She did a TEDx talk in 2017 titled "What Trauma Taught Me About Happiness" which has been viewed by nearly 200,000 people. Her story has been featured in major publications, such as O Magazine, Fast Company, Forbes, and Working Mother. Lindsey's perspective is also honed by her roles as a corporate executive, mother, and wife. She is Senior VP Strategy & Brand at Hallmark, where she is leading various initiatives and groups—many of which draw from the lessons shared in The Gift of Perspective. She has a degree in Journalism & Advertising with a minor in Speech from Kansas State University and serves on many charitable boards, including Ability KC, Steps of Faith, and the Ad Council.

"WELCOME BACK TO ANOTHER EPISODE OF MAN VS MARRAIGE" ! You aren't born ready — you're built ready. And most of that building happens in the invisible moments…when you're making the right choices without recognition, without affirmation, and without anyone clapping for it.In this episode of Man vs Marriage, we talk about endurance without applause — the quiet responsibility that shapes a man long before results ever show up.You don't redefine yourself when you feel ready. You redefine yourself when you choose responsibility before readiness. This conversation challenges the quiet compromises men make with themselves — the justifications that explain why endurance should stop — and confronts the cost of quitting too early.Because quitting doesn't create rest.It creates a different version of you.And becoming a man you can count on — honoring the gift of life you've been given — is worth far more than any applause you may never receive. If you're doing the work no one sees…If you're swimming upstream…If you know the silent conversation happening on the inside…This episode is for you.man vs marriage podcast, man and marriage, men and responsibility, personal responsibility for men, leadership in the home, emotional control, masculine leadership, becoming a man, endurance without applause, forged in fortitude, identity formation, self discipline, integrity as a man, leadership under pressure, responsibility before readiness, men and purpose, resilience for men, quiet strength, invisible work, manhood and marriage
The video, "Follow: A Reflection on the Readings for the 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time," features Layperson Lisa reflecting on the Gospel reading for the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time (0:00). She shares a personal anecdote about a challenging decision to leave her full-time job to volunteer at the St. Clair of Assisi Retreat Center, a choice she initially resisted due to fear (0:07-0:49).Key takeaways from her reflection include:Divine Calling (0:50-1:28): Lisa recounts how a specific Bible passage, "They left their nets and followed him," resonated deeply during adoration, affirming God's call for her to abandon her livelihood and follow Him, much like the apostles Simon, Andrew, John, and James did.Fortitude and Trust (1:42-2:58): The reflection emphasizes the importance of fortitude, the courage to do what God asks, and to rely on Him rather than oneself. Lisa mentions St. Thérèse of Lisieux's "little way" and total abandonment to God, highlighting that God allows things to happen to draw us closer to Him.Discipleship in Action (2:59-4:31): After gathering His apostles, Jesus went out to heal, teach, and preach. Lisa asserts that all believers are called to be disciples, sharing Jesus with others, being a light in the darkness, offering an attentive ear to those in need, teaching about Jesus, and preaching the good news of God's love and the importance of prayer.Strengthening Fortitude (4:32-5:06): The video concludes by encouraging viewers to ask Jesus for a strengthening of their fortitude, a gift received at baptism, to overcome obstacles that prevent them from fully following Him, and to spread His kingdom as teachers, preachers, and healers.

In this episode of Uncommon Sense, I'm calling out a problem no one wants to confront: the normalization of partying, drinking, and casual sex especially among so-called “conservative influencers.”You cannot claim to defend Western Civilization while publicly celebrating the very behaviors that destroyed past civilizations. Conservatism without morality is just aesthetic rebellion. We don't need more clout, cocktails, or compromised values. We need a return to godliness, self-discipline, and moral responsibility because the future generations watching us will inherit whatever standard we tolerate today. If we want to save the West, we have to get serious about being truly Christian again.--https://www.bible.com/

Dive deep into the timeless wisdom of St. John Chrysostom's homily on Matthew 10:17-22. In this powerful commentary, Chrysostom provides a vivid contrast between the world-conquering fortitude of the Apostles—simple fishermen who triumphed over the Devil and the entire world through endurance and conversion—and the fleeting "honors" of pagan philosophers like Plato and the Cynics.**Key Themes in this Commentary:** * **The Unstoppable Gospel:** How the power of the Word dissolves the tyranny of nature and worldly opposition. * **Apostolic Victory:** The marvelous way the uneducated Apostles prevailed by converting their enemies and enduring suffering, rather than by combat. * **Endurance to the End:** An in-depth look at Christ's command for lasting patience: "He who endures to the end shall be saved." * **The Fortitude of Job:** A profound analysis of Job's trials, highlighting his unparalleled patience and self-denial in the face of loss, affliction, and hidden spiritual battles, even without the clear consolation of the resurrection or suffering "for Christ." * **A Call to Action:** A challenging message for contemporary Christians to practice self-control and spiritual warfare, avoiding "softness and negligence" in times of peace by training against their own passions.Whether you are seeking spiritual encouragement, historical context, or a deeper understanding of early Christian thought, this reading is essential.

Cattitude - Cat podcast about cats as pets on Pet Life Radio (PetLifeRadio.com)
On this episode of Cattitude, Michelle Fern welcomes author Tamar Arslanian and award-winning pet photographer Andrew Marttila to explore the revised and expanded edition of Shop Cats of New York. These beloved feline residents may not appear on leases or in travel guides, but they are just as essential to New York City as yellow taxis and corner delis. Nestled inside bookstores, record shops, breweries, hotels, and neighborhood businesses, shop cats bring warmth, personality, and magic to the city streets. Tamar and Andrew share heartfelt stories and vivid photography featuring unforgettable cats like Ratty of the East Village stamp shop, bonded duo Patience and Fortitude, and the legendary Jack Daniels Bagley. Beyond celebrating these pampered shop mascots, the book highlights the positive role shop cats play in communities, encourages businesses to embrace feline companions, and inspires rescuers to consider non-traditional, loving homes for cats in need. Equal parts travel guide, tribute, and photo essay, Shop Cats of New York is a love letter to the city—and the cats who make it purr.EPISODE NOTES: Bodega Bosses & Bookstore Cats: Inside Shop Cats of New YorkBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/cattitude-the-1-cat-podcast--6666768/support.

John talks about the epic failures by Trump lackies to accomplish many of his tasks including a federal judge ordering Kilmar Abrego Garcia released from federal detention and Trump's redistricting plan for Indiana being soundly rejected by a bipartisan majority in the state house. Then, he chats with Democratic Strategist Max Burns on the Senate rejected both the Democrat AND Republican healthcare bills, and Trump's newest war with Venezuela. Then finally, John jokes with comedian Tara Dublin on the chaotic mishaps in the news and they take calls from the Evil Army of the Night on how to navigate the mayhem of Trumpland.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Ever had a game session so draining that even your dice lose levels? In this episode, the RPGBOT crew resurrects one of D&D's most dreaded mechanics: energy drain, and the undead horrors that made it famous. From the White Box to Pathfinder 2e, Tyler, Randall, and Ash relive decades of pain, permanent debuffs, and emotional damage, all in the name of understanding why we're so glad energy drain is (mostly) dead. Grab your holy symbol, chug a potion, and prepare for a nostalgic necrotic nosedive. Join the RPGBOT Patreon If you want to keep your creative energy undrained, support the RPGBOT.Podcast on Patreon. Patrons get ad-free episodes, early access to our Masterclass recordings, and exclusive bonus content from Tyler, Randall, and Ash. Join us today at patreon.com/rpgbot — and help keep our hit points (and our humor) at full strength. Show Notes The RPGBOT crew takes a dark, funny journey through the history of energy drain — one of tabletop RPGs' most punishing and misunderstood mechanics. Starting with OD&D's dreaded Wight, they trace how "losing levels" evolved across editions — from instant death in AD&D to hit point maximum reduction in D&D 5e and drained conditions in Pathfinder 2e. Along the way, Ash shares stories from her Ravenloft campaign, Tyler explains why undead needed to be terrifying, and Randall asks the eternal question: "Did anyone actually have fun with this rule?" Covered Topics: How energy drain first appeared in the OD&D White Box The connection between Wights, vampires, and permanent level loss Why AD&D and 3.5 made energy drain one of the most hated mechanics ever Pathfinder 1e and the dawn of "negative levels" D&D 5e's kinder, gentler approach — max HP reduction instead of level loss Pathfinder 2e's drained and doomed conditions, and how they replace energy drain The evolution of innervation and life drain spells How modern systems preserve undead flavor without destroying players' progress A philosophical question: Should tabletop games hurt this much? Plus: a tangent about Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and how much punishment is too much Mentioned Creatures & Mechanics: Wight, Vampire Spawn, Shadow, Ghoul, Varghoul Innervation / Enervation spell Negative levels, Hit Point Maximum reduction, Drained condition Resurrection penalties in 3.5e and Pathfinder 1e Afflictions, Fortitude saves, and Constitution death spirals Key Takeaways Energy drain began as a brutally punishing mechanic — losing levels in OD&D and AD&D could erase hours of play progress instantly. Pathfinder 1e softened the blow with temporary negative levels, while still terrifying players with math-heavy penalties. 5e and PF2 modernized the concept into simpler, narratively cleaner effects like HP maximum reduction or the drained condition. Undead identity survived — even as the math got easier, the flavor of losing your vitality to a vampire or wight remained iconic. Players prefer tension over punishment. Modern systems preserve danger without making players rage-quit. Energy drain mechanics reflect evolving design philosophy — from simulationist suffering to storytelling sustainability. DM takeaway: Make undead scary through story and tension, not through math that kills fun. How to Play Holidays This Christmas season, while you're recovering from your own levels of exhaustion, the RPGBOT.Podcast is re-releasing our "How to Play" Series for Pathfinder 2e — perfect for new players and GMs ready to explore the system over the holiday break. Emma M. Lion returns with gusto in volume 2 by Beth Brower. Do you like underdog stories? Emma may be in a precarious predicament but she's not one to throw in the towel! Advice from Emma's father, “You must be fighting fit, Emma, whatever else. Most of life is the ability to be ready for what comes your way.”Young Hawkes (the unlikely vicar) informs Emma that her cousin has been confessing his sins and a much longer list of her sins while showing the scar from the teapot Emma tossed at him long ago following much provocation. The Tenant aka Niall Pierce attempts to solve the mouse problem with a cat. He and Emma communicate by sending messages through a hole in the wall that divides the garret, like the following:I REPORT THAT TYBALT HAS TAKEN A MOUSE.Your news proves to be the chief triumph of my day.WITH NO WISH TO CAST ASPERSIONS, I WONDER HOW THAT COULD BE THE TRIUMPH OF AN ENTIRE DAY?Tea with my Aunt, the Lady Eugenia Spencer, in which I was instructed how to behave in public: namely, like an unobtrusive but on the window.I RETRACT MY PREVIOUS QUESTION.Cousin Arabella bravely declares that, “Emma can't live with Maxwell's ghost forever…As painful as it is, however desperately we miss him, Maxwell has been dead for three years…Allow him to go.” Mary, Emma's friend and fellow survivor from Fortitude enlists Emma's help in solving a problem involving retrieving a confiscated copy of Jane Eyre and Jack (Mary's rented cousin). In the midst of Emma's comings and goings she intersects with the Duke of Islington's diary which she was unable to resist reading from cover to cover before returning it!We love Emma and her ability to move forward in spite of the trials her cousin places upon her. Won't you join the journey? Blessings!
Michael M. Uhlmann, LL.B., Ph.D. was my mentor in Constitutional Law for over a decade and convinced me not to go to law school but instead to study public law as a Ph.D. student, which I did. Here, we do an excursus on the Chevron Deference Deep Dive series on The Republican Professor podcast. We have Uhlmann on a book by Peter Wallison called "Judicial Fortitude: The Last Chance to Reign in the Administrative State." It's about Republicans calling for a revival of the non-delegation doctrine for the purpose of protecting individual liberty. We're going to make a fair use and do a transformative reading of the piece. Dr. Uhlmann died just months after this was published and so we are unable to have him as a guest on the podcast. We'd like to thank Claremont Review of Books for publishing Mike's "Full Court Press," the piece we interact with here, on Wallison's book. Go to ClaremontReviewofBooks.com for subscription options, and throw some support their way. You can find Summer 2019's "Full Court Press" written by Dr. Uhlmann there. We'd like to thank the late great Michael M. Uhlmann for his mentorship and professorship and for writing this, bringing this wonderful Wallison book to our attention. Go out and buy a copy of the Wallison book -- his books are excellent. What Wallison was calling for in that book partially took place last year when Republicans on the US Supreme Court reversed 1984's (no pun intended) Chevron decision. The Republican Professor is a pro-separation-of-powers-protecting-individual-liberty podcast. The Republican Professor is produced and hosted by Dr. Lucas J. Mather, Ph.D.

In 2023 Daniela and I were in Boston for something at Barstool - I can't remember what exactly. It was spitting snow like it does in the Northeast. I had on my favorite winter hat and got a like from Shit That I Knit. This is how I met Christina Pardy. I liked her instantly - she's a Masshole. Sweet, gritty, creative, earnest and motivated. I had her come to Barstool and we talked about her company and her vision. I was on here the other day and saw a post from Christina about selling STIT. It was vulnerable and honest. She talked about her mom, lifting weights, skipping the wine and reimagining her future.I think people shy away from talking about the end of things - like there's something shameful about it. I wanted to have this conversation with Christina to give light and space to the things that don't work outChristina joined WORK to lay it all out. In this direct, practical conversation on Healthy Mind, Healthy Life, host Avik explores how the four cardinal virtues—prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance—become a usable framework for real-world mental and spiritual well-being. Guest Matthew Jandernoa, founder of Steadfast Life, reframes virtue from “rules” into a map for becoming fully human. You'll hear why freedom requires formation, how appetites shape choice, and a simple on-ramp: identify your “champion virtue” using Gretchen Rubin's Four Tendencies to build momentum. Matthew shares a client story showing how the prudential sub-virtue of alertness can reduce panic attacks by widening focus and restoring creativity. If you want a clear, non-fluffy path to calm, confidence, and integrity, this episode lays out the steps. About the guest Matthew Jandernoa is a husband, father, and founder of Steadfast Life, a movement helping people make virtue human again—practiced daily by families, leaders, and believers seeking wisdom, discipline, and love. Key takeaways: Virtue is human tech: The root of “virtue” (from vir, “human”) frames it as a map for being fully human, not a moral checklist. Four domains, four anchors: Prudence = thinking well Temperance = desiring well Fortitude = meeting fear well Justice = acting/interacting well Freedom needs formation: Unordered appetites distort reality; rightly ordered appetites increase true freedom and durable happiness. Start where you're strong: Use Four Tendencies to find a “champion virtue”: Upholder → Temperance Questioner → Prudence Obliger → Justice Rebel → FortitudeGrowing one virtue lifts all. Anxiety tool: alertness (prudence): Replace tunnel vision with creative option-generation to neutralize intrusive thoughts and regulate the nervous system. Everyday practice: Choose honesty over comfort, courage over fear, balance over excess, and fairness over ego—small, repeatable acts compound. Resources mentioned: steadfastlife.net, Institute of Catholic Culture's course on the Four Cardinal Virtues, Gretchen Rubin's Four Tendencies.
