A look at the evening sky is a nice way to wrap up your Christmas. It features the Moon, two bright planets, and some of the brighter stars in all the night sky. As twilight drains from the sky, the Moon is well up in the southwest. The Sun lights up more than a quarter of the lunar hemisphere that faces our way, so it’s a fat crescent. It’s waxing toward first quarter, on Saturday. The planet Saturn is to the upper left of the Moon, and looks like a bright star. It shines so brightly for a couple of reasons: It’s the second-largest planet in the solar system – more than nine times the diameter of Earth – and it’s topped by clouds that reflect much of the sunlight that strikes them. The only planet that’s bigger than Saturn is Jupiter, and it climbs into good view, in the east-northeast, by 7 or 7:30. In all the night sky right now, only the Moon outshines it. The “twin” stars of Gemini – Pollux and Castor – stand to Jupiter’s left and upper left. At the same time, the brilliant constellation Orion is off to the upper right of Jupiter. Look for its three-star belt aiming straight up from the horizon, flanked by orange Betelgeuse and blue-white Rigel. Taurus perches well above Orion. It’s marked by its bright orange eye, Aldebaran. And the Dog Star, Sirius, climbs into good view by 8 or 8:30, below Orion’s Belt. It’s the brightest true star in the night sky – a beautiful decoration for Christmas night. And why are we being asked to make adjustments to where we've let society's values about morals & ethics trump those of own soul's higher consciousness?This week's podcast begins with a review of last month's Scorpio New Moon opposite Uranus in Taurus energy during its third quarter waning period, which brought to the surface the need for us to evolve our sense of values to bring them into accordance with the “real” world. The shocking events—particularly those of this past week as this monthly lunar cycle waned—provided stark clarity & greater revelations that in order to evolve (read: survive) we must change our ways of thinking & acting. Or better yet, about how we must review our previous inaction on important topics.That's because we know now how the Mars/Neptune square from December 14 resulted in violence (Mars) based on distorted or fantastical thinking (Neptune.) The proof is evidenced by the horrific shootings December 13 & 14 at Brown University, the terrorist massacre at Sydney's Bondi Beach, Australia, celebration on the first night of Hannukah, & the patricide & matricide murders of Rob & Michele Reiner by a son with mental health issues. It couldn't be clearer that the issues of both gun violence & mental health & addiction—particularly in America—has been too long ignored. And that our society needed these sudden, shockingly horrific events to awaken us to the need for change. This is especially true given that gun violence in schools has gone on so long that two Brown University students had been victims of school shootings before. The secret revealed this past month is that we can no longer ignore these horrific events as a society here in America & do nothing.MARS ENTERED CAPRICORN, SUN SQUARED SATURN=BLOCKAGESSince Mars entered Capricorn December 14/15, depending on your time zone, & the Sun squared Saturn December 16, we've also experienced blockages. President Trump's blockade of sanctioned Venezuelan oil tankers, which in turn led to Venezuelan President Maduro ordering that naval vessels accompany these tankers is just one example.By then we also learned that a terrorist plot planned for New Year's Eve had been thwarted, as “federal authorities announced the arrests of four alleged members of an extremist group who are suspected of planning coordinated bombing attacks on New Year's Eve across Southern California.”We also learned by December 18, that there would be no extension by Congress of the Affordable Care Act (ACE) subsidies before they expire on December 31. House Speaker Mike Johnson effectively blocked that from happening & has ensured that millions will lose their healthcare coverage very, very soon. And, last but not least, there's the release of Trump's chief of staff Susie Wile's interview with Vanity Fair Magazine, which revealed another secret: She is not your typical chief of staff who advises a president & stands firm in their convictions about what's right or wrong. Rather she's an enable who describes Trump as having an “alcoholics personality.” Having grown up with an alcoholic father, Wiles knows one when she sees one. Astrologers Chris Brennan and Nick Dagan Best explore Mars-Uranus conjunctions in Gemini in US history, and how they have coincided with some of the most pivotal turning points during the Revolutionary War, Civil War, and World War II, in order to gain insight into the upcoming conjunctions from 2026 to 2032. This episode originated from research for the upcoming 2026 forecast, specifically noticing the striking Mars-Uranus conjunction that will occur on July 4, 2026—the nation's 250th birthday. Building on our previous work regarding the US Uranus Return and recurrence transits, we examine how the United States was founded under a specific Mars-Uranus conjunction signature. Because this alignment exists in the country's birth chart, its recurrence in the sky acts as a powerful trigger, particularly when it returns to the sign of Gemini. Our research uncovered a distinct narrative pattern across three major historical eras: the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and the period spanning World War II and the start of the Cold War. We found that significant "precursor" events often emerge during Mars-Uranus conjunctions in Taurus, which then escalate into major conflicts and structural changes once the conjunctions move into Gemini, before finally reaching a resolution or new status quo as the alignment shifts into Cancer. We track this sequence through history, noting astounding correlations where exact conjunctions coincided with defining moments such as the drafting of the Declaration of Independence, the attack on Fort Sumter that began the Civil War, and the detonation of the atomic bomb in 1945. We discuss themes of rebellion, military innovation, and the struggle for liberation that seem to consistently resurface during these windows of time. Finally, we apply these historical lessons to the present, analyzing the precursor events of the last decade to forecast the themes of the upcoming Uranus in Gemini cycle from 2025 to 2033. We outline the timing of the four Mars-Uranus conjunctions that will take place between 2026 and 2032, and discuss what history implies about the threshold we are currently crossing.
