This week Car & Ken find themselves here, which is where? Who could say. After Doing A Good Quality Time, they share their recent experience, which leads into the Beefy News of “networking”: What is it? How do you do it right? Why can it be done so wrong? Is it both necessary and gross? More questions than answers, but it taps into underlying issues of insecurity, ego and purpose, which is always important to explore. In Awake & Asleep the friends try to deconstruct the impossible and get derailed by Shaquille O’Neil. Also this week, the friends do an Accidental Learning about Chinese social media and Gigantism. Plus: Ken’s so busy! Car’s got a messy brain & it’s hereditary! Jerry wants to play! Siri has fomo! Yawni DiFranco! SPOILER ALERT: The Throne Zone starts at 46:21 and covers S8 E2 & E3, but mostly covers feelings.

Talking Through The Damned, with Ruthie!!! That’s right! Ruthie returns to the podcast, after taking Fear Season 3 off and missing last week. In this episode of The Walking Dead Talk Through, Ruthie and I discuss the non-stop action that was in The Walking Dead’s Season 8 Episode 2, titled The Damned, along with a couple of unexpected turns and some questionable moral decisions. I thought it was a good episode, though maybe not as good as last week. Ruthie, however, didn’t care for it too much. The return of Morales! It was unexpected, but Rick comes face to face with a blast from the past: Morales! Morales was a character that was a big part of Season 1, but he left with his family to go to Birmingham instead of staying with our survivors. Clearly, he didn’t get there and probably lost his family. Hopefully, we will know more next week. Ratings are down It is normal for ratings to go down from the season premiere, and this was the case this time around. The Damned got a 3.99 in the 18-49 demographic, dropping not only under 10 million but under 9 million, with 8.923 million viewers. This is down from 5.03 in the 18-49 with 11.439 million viewers last week. I wonder if we will be under 10 million going forward. Even with the decline, the show is still a ratings juggernaut. That’s it for The Damned! Please leave your feedback for The Walking Dead, Season 8 Episode 3, titled Monsters, by Tuesday 6 PM Eastern/5 PM Central. Check the Facebook group for any deadline changes. I may be taking the week off again, but that hasn’t been finalized. Other Fun Stuff Completely Unrelated to The Damned! Talking Through Mercy Hi, Brian here, and Season 8 of The Walking Dead is finally here! We have been teasing the return of Ruthie for weeks now, but she’s out sick this week, and my Fear the Walking Dead Talk Through co-host Kyle wasn’t available to sub in, but I was able to secure some special guests to help me analyze S8E1, titled Mercy. Joining me are fellow podcasters Reese Nicole Brown of The Introverted Nerd Watches and Ben Beck, co-creator of the Next Level Network and co-host of the DC Prime Time and Next Level Showcast podcasts. It’s All Out War! This episode marks the beginning of either the season or half-season, of a section in the comic book known as All Out War. Rick comes to the Sanctuary, with the start of an elaborate plan to defeat the Saviors. All goes well, except for one thing… The episode is also marked by what appears to be three timelines: The main timeline, either future, possible future or dream timeline, with an older Rick, and what may be a near-future Rick, standing by a grave, with red eyes. Time will tell what the heck this all means, but we’ll be watching! We also re-examine the TWD/FTWD crossover, with Ben and Reese giving their thoughts on it. Ratings are DOWN CONSIDERABLY over last season!!! We see a big drop in the 18-49 rating from year to year. Mercy got a 5.03 in the 18-49, with 11.439 million viewers. This compares to last season’s season premiere, which got a near-record 8.36 and 17.029 million viewers. It is lower than the last season finale in the demo, which got a 5.42 18-49, but higher in total viewers with the finale’s 11.314 million viewers. We want your feedback! Remember to leave us your feedback for next week, S8E2 titled The Damned by Tuesday 6 PM Eastern/5 Central. One of the best ways to leave feedback is on our Facebook group. Did the Reunion Special whet your appetite for more Poofcast? Scott, Adam & Toby are back, and they're attempting to answer some of the mail that arrived while they were away. Somehow this involves Toby and Adam recounting their experience watching a Jedward concert. Cabaret Karaoke, the Trevor Ashley weather report, and trying not to make eye contact during a spit roast. WARNING: The Poofcast contains coarse language, adult themes, sexually explicit discussion and an increasingly annoying impression of Trevor Ashley.
