Through Luke, we see that Jesus is the perfect Son of Man, what Paul calls the new and better Adam, and how He came to serve and save by God’s transforming power. And in today’s passage, we will see how Jesus meets us at our greatest point of need, in our lowest moments, and sees us through seasons of suffering.

Because dependency on God is the objective, we must let our suffering and weakness drive us toward more and more dependency on Jesus.
Welcome to The Oaks Community Church Sunday morning worship service. Today Minister Bethany Rivera is preaching on Luke 8:40-56, “Jesus Heals Publicly and Privately,” as we continue our study of the Gospel of Luke. The two stories in this portion of Scripture demonstrate how Jesus cares for the lost, for women, and for children—three groups of people that were not valued or cared for in the time Jesus lived on earth. These events show us how much Jesus values each of us. He knows our needs, and cares. He is the answer to all our needs. This message will bring hope and peace to you as you come to understand how much Jesus loves you. We are glad you are watching with us today. May God bless and encourage you. Be sure to download the Worship Guide. Click the “Download PDF” button and it will open in a new window where you may print it or save it to your computer.

Life can be hard. Life can be challenging. Sometimes we are confused or lonely. Other times we feel lost or we are in need of healing. It can be difficult to navigate these times in light of our faith. During our sermon series, Good Dirt, we have met many people along the way who have taught us, through their encounter with Jesus, how to walk out our faith. This week we meet two people who show us two different kinds of faith in Jesus and how Jesus works through each of them in their different circumstances. We learn that sometimes our faith is more proactive and sometimes it sits in patience. Listen in as we learn about these two faiths and how they can impact our lives each day.

Matthew records in this text two miraculous events. One is the raising from the dead of a twelve-year-old girl. The second is the healing of a woman who had a feminine issue of blood for twelve years. These miracles shake people to the point of submission before the authority of Christ. There is hopelessness without Christ and these states of death and sickness reflect that hopelessness. Christ's healing show HIS compassion and hope! Death and sickness do not have the last word ... Jesus does!

There is an old hymn that gets stuck in my head and heart from time to time, one I learned in the earliest days of my walk with Christ, one that never lets go. "O To Be Like Thee" was written by Thomas Chisholm in 1897. Its music may be dated, but its spirit should never be. As we continue our journey through the life of Christ in the Gospel of Luke, its second stanza fits like a soundtrack: Oh! to be like Thee, full of compassion, Loving, forgiving, tender and kind, Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting ,Seeking the wand’ring sinner to find. Oh! to be like Thee, oh! to be like Thee, Blessed Redeemer, pure as Thou art; Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness; Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart. "Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart." As we look at his life this morning, we are going to look at 10 characteristics of Jesus' heart that truly stamp his image on a disciple, so that we may have a heart--and the life that brings--just like His.
His ways are always best. We need to understand that to doubt that is foolish. Will you reach out and touch Him even now as we close with a moment of silence? Will you take that time daily to be still with Him?

When reaching out to Jesus, we can experience His grace, forgiveness, and peace, both now and eternally.

Living with hope and faith in Jesus is the key to which brings God's blessings in life
In this sermon Pastor Jimmy examines two very different healing encounters in the ministry of Jesus. In one encounter Jesus commands the woman to tell what has happened to her and in the other He commands a father not to share about the resurrection of his daughter.
Here's the question: Are you desperate for God? What does that mean? How do we live that kind of life? This message will challenge you to live a life that is desperate and dependent on something or someone BIGGER than you.
