We tend to take our life circumstances as fairly meaninglesss or conincidental events, perhaps even obstacles to God’s plan for your life. But in today’s passage we learn that the Lord who reigns over all, reigns over even our circumstances. This enables us to see every circumstance as a duty assignment. Join us as we study this passage together!

4. Philippians 1:12-18 Joy in Proclaiming The Gospel Pastor Phil Ballmaier Calvary Chapel Elk Grove 4-16-23 Pastor Phil normally approaches the study of The Bible verse-by-verse, but The Lord has laid it on his heart to study The Book of Philippians topically. Today Pastor Phil talks about the Apostle Paul's ability, despite being in prison and in chains, to praise The Lord and use every opportunity to share the Gospel with everyone he met, including his captors. We can only hope and pray that God would give us the grace and empower us to give Him glory in our afflictions, trials and hardships — and cease the moment to further the Gospel. The Book of Philippians was written by the Apostle Paul while he was imprisoned in Rome, likely around 61 or 62 AD. It is one of the four 'prison epistles' that Paul penned while in captivity. He counted it a joy to allow God to work everything for his good—even imprisonment. The Book of Philippians teaches us the secret of having joy in a less than perfect world. Calvary Chapel Elk Grove is a non-denominational fellowship located in Roselle, a northwest suburb of Chicago in Illinois. Is suffering spiritual? Does suffering cause us to grow in Christ? Listen as we move further into Philippians 1 this week.
The 3rd sermon in a series on Philippians. Paul encourages the Philippian congregation by assuring them that, even in his worst suffering, the Gospel is still conquering the hearts of their enemies with love and forgiveness. This, in turn, emboldens them to keep worship Jesus and bearing his witness, even if people try to use him and them for selfish purposes. As Paul writes from prison we see a man who is not in despair, depression or anxiety, but rather a man who’s hope is set on God. We learn a valuable lesson from Paul in this moment — we cannot allow our circumstances to shape how we think of God, but rather we should shape how we think of our circumstances based on what we know about God. Paul reminds his friends that his imprisonment actually helps the advancement of the gospel. In this life, we will have many hardships, but God does not waste our hardships. They are lasting hardships, because God will use any and everything in our lives. Even the difficult things. For Paul, all that matters is the gospel. Visit us online at: http://www.RenewalChurch.net
